It was a Junkin Mother’s Day Weekend

May 15, 2013

This past Mother’s Day weekend, I went to Beaumont and had a wonderful visit with my parents. One thing mom, dad and I love to do is go junkin and when I roll out of bed, throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, pull up my hair and head out the door with no makeup on… it’s serious junkin time. We spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday at a great flea market, in some awesome antique shops and a super great junk shop. We found so many great finds for upcoming Delight In The Art of Collage Kits that I’m going to have a hard time letting these finds go to new homes. Here’s just a peek at some of the awesome things I purchased. I’m talking vintage trims, vintage earrings, fabric for quilt squares,...

Mother’s Day Projects

With Mother’s Day just around the corner I thought I would share a few project ideas from my book “Delight In The Seasons” that would make wonderful gifts for any mom on Mother’s Day. You can create a beautiful mini album just for mom sharing stories and photos from special times and moments spent together. This project is featured in the Spring Chapter on pages 46 – 49. I show you how to create the beautiful flower accenting the front cover of this album. If you prefer to create projects, this piece can be found in the Spring Chapter on pages 50 – 54. I show you how to create this beautiful felt message banner.  You can hand stitch any special sentiment you wish for your mom. My mom has this project sitting in her...

Mother’s Day Recap

May 18, 2012

I hope you all enjoyed your Mother’s Day as much as I enjoyed mine. My family made me feel very special. First I was treated to a Dyan Reaveley class at Stampers Anonymous. Carolyn Ross and I went together and had lots of fun. I can promise you this is the messiest my hands have ever been in my LIFE! I think the one thing I really loved about Dyan’s class was she didn’t give you time to over think what you were doing when creating the background for the album. This is one of my issues with art journaling… I over think everything! I just need to do it and free my very detailed, over analytical creative brain. Dyan gave you the perfect amount of time to do the technique and move on… no over...

A Little Something for Me

May 6, 2011

If you haven’t checked out Suze Weinberg’s etsy shop you need to… she creates some really cool and funky necklaces. I purchased one a few months ago that I just love and talked about it here. Well the other day I took another look in her etsy shop and BAM found another necklace I had to have. I tell ya I can only go and look every few months because I would purchase one every time I visited. This one has all the colors I wear and I love all the baubles she added, so what’s a girl to do… click add to cart. The quality of Suze’s workmanship, beads and baubles is top notch but then again, I would not expect anything less from her. And today, I will finish book project #60...

Mother’s Day Charms

May 5, 2011

Here is a very sweet gift to create for mom this Mother’s Day…. her very own mom charms. The charms shown below are charms of my mom as a little girl and her mom as a young lady and in her early 40’s. A necklace accented with charms of images of your mom, her mother and all your siblings would be a wonderful gift. You could even accent the charms with pearl baubles. I think this would make a very special gift and one she will cherish. Please note you will need to print your photos using a laser printer or the image will run once you apply the glossy accents. Supplies Used: Two Peas In A Bucket carries all the supplies used… Tim Holt Facets, Tim Holtz Baubles, Glossy Accents, Fiskars Fingertip Craft...

Mother’s Day Pin or Charm

May 3, 2011

This week with my final book deadline being Monday, of next week, I’m going to try to do some quick posts of projects you can create for Mother’s Day. If I miss a day or two… well you know what the deal is… So today I created a pin that can easily be placed onto a necklace and used as a charm, if pins are not for you. Or you can attach it to her gift as an accent on a gift bag or box. I’m sure you all can think of lots of different ways to use this cameo. The Maya Road Mini Chipboard Cameos Set is super fun to alter. If you’ve not yet had a chance to play around with these give them a try. I think you’ll love them. You can...

Mother’s Day Ornament/Tag

May 5, 2010

Here is an ornament/tag I created using an image from this vintage lady pdf. I LOVE these images and plan on creating a few more ornaments to attach to gift bags as needed. I always write a little note on the back of the tag for the recipient as I feel it adds such a personal touch to the gift. And I was really happy with how the rose looked on the tag too. I added a little creamy brown ink to distress it just a bit. I think it’s perfect. Those of you registered in my Tips, Techniques and Tutorials workshop, I will be posting the tutorial on how to recreate this soon. So be watching. Supplies Used: Maya Road Scroll Frames, Ledger Paper, Sheet Music, Platinum Stickles, Maya Road Chandelier Bead, Self...

Faux Vintage Millinery Pin Tutorial…

May 7, 2009

I love anything vintage especially vintage millinery pins. I always wonder how the previous owner wore theirs… did they adorn their hat, a lapel, accent a scarf or sweater etc… so with Mother’s Day just around the corner I thought it might be fun to make one just for Mom. You could present this pin to her by attaching it onto a card, placing it into a special altered box or by attaching it to the center of a bow to include with another gift. Either way I know she will love it especially since you made it just for her. I hope you enjoy this simple tutorial of a time gone by and oh so treasured millinery pin.
