It will be released in January and is currently available through pre-order on Amazon. I love how the designer Amanda Kleiman created a collage of my projects for the Introduction and each chapter. EnviroTex Resin Button Charm

Feb 8, 2013

I love my “Vintage Button Bracelet” so much I decided to create a matching charm to wear on a necklace. Using Nunn Design Glue I attached a piece of vintage ledger paper inside the bezel. I only put one coat of glue on top of the ledger paper since just a bit was going to be seen. If the resin produced stain marks on my paper I was not going to worry about it. But I’m happy to say one layer of glue did the trick. But I’m not going to push my luck with just one coat if I want more of the paper showing. I will do 2 or 3 glue applications because you know how Murphy’s Law works… Once the glue dried I placed a vintage button that was slightly smaller than...

Family is Everything

Dec 26, 2012

This is the canvas I created for Mom. I made her a family tree sorta canvas. You will see me at the top as I’m the oldest, then I placed my two daughters Terri and Ansley underneath me. Next is my brother Richard, then my sister Belinda and her kids Amanda, Brittain, Madelyn and Isabella (Bellie). I created this canvas using the Maya Road Portrait Chipboard pieces, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Acrylic Paint Charcoal Black, Traditional Tan and Blank Canvas. I accented the sides using the Heart stencil by Dina Wakley as the hearts were the perfect size for this piece. I traced mine onto the sides using a pencil then using a paint brush filled them in with black paint and white accents. I painted each portrait chipboard piece using black paint. Once dry...

Dream Tag

Aug 9, 2012

Here is a fun tag to create that is filled with all kinds of little techniques that are perfect to use on other projectsl. I started with a plain manila office tag and covered it with vintage ledger paper. Next, using the Maya Road Ornate Frames stamp set and Jet Black Archival Ink, I stamped the frame images onto the ledger paper. Next I took the new Maya Road Floral Garden Fabric Tape and filled the inside area of the frames. I then accented the flowers with Diamond Stickles and let it dry. Once dry, I covered the Fabric Tape with Glossy Accents and let it dry. Make sure you have a pin handy to pop any air bubbles that occur. Here is a little tip: I like to leave the stamps on the acetate...

Blast from the Past

Aug 2, 2012

While organizing photos in my gallery, late last night, I stumbled upon some layouts I created when I first started to scrapbook back in 2005. Oh goodness do I have some fun layouts to show you… it’s so funny to me looking back at what I’ve created. When we first moved into our home the summer of 1999 there were gorgeous sunflower fields all over. I loved going out each morning and taking photos of them with the morning sun highlighting each petal. It truly was gorgeous. I did learn one hard lesson though… did you know when you cut wild sunflowers they seep this REALLY STICKY stuff? When this sappy stuff gets on anything it’s like trying to remove gorilla glue… I didn’t think I would ever rid my kitchen table of this...

Maya Road Mid-Release – Hexagons

May 15, 2012

Yes, I’m in love with the new Maya Road Hexagons. They come in three sizes, basically small, medium and large and some are die cut which allows you to create a nice frame on top of another as I did with the hexagon that has the vintage sheet music inside. This canvas is covered with circles punched from old ledger paper and sheet music and a few doilies here and there. Each item is attached with natural beeswax, then sealed entirely with beeswax. Each hexagon is coated with beeswax and accented with a vintage button, bingo butterfly motif and altered key. The key is inked with Adirondack Pigment Snow Cap, covered with Glossy Accents and accented with a 5mm cream colored pearl. The crocheted doily is one my mom made… I have her creating...

Vintage Style Portrait Charm

Apr 13, 2011

I love the Portrait Stamp Set by Maya Road as the images remind me of the silver charms that are on my grandmother’s charm bracelet. She has every grandchild and great grandchild represented and I can remember always looking at it trying to find my charm. I thought it would be fun to make charms of my daughters to put on a long necklace made from a piece of silver ball chain. I really like how vintage looking they turned out and plan on making more as gifts for friends. Supplies Needed: Foundation Chipboard Set, Portrait Stamp Set, Acrylic Block, Vintage Ledger Paper, Black Eyelet, Jump Ring, Glue Stick, Black Archival and Creamy Brown Ink, Glossy Accents Tools Used: Craft Knife, Craft Matt, Sanding Block, Crop-a-Dile, Pliers Instructions: Apply glue stick adhesive to the...

Boobie Canvas…

Oct 5, 2010

I bet that title got your attention. Remember the canvas I did and said it was for a great cause… well below is all the info on how you can try to win mine or any of the other talented artists who participated in Cheryl Darrow’s canvas raffle. It would be awesome if she could send a great big fat check to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. You can remove the Jenni Bowlin vintage image inside the canvas niche. I think it would be awesome to place your own family photograph inside. The ledger paper used on my canvas is from 1933, the book page flowers are from an old American Literature book and the vintage shell buttons are from a collection a man had been collecting for YEARS. He had over...

For a great cause…

Aug 30, 2010

I was asked by Cheryl Darrow to alter a canvas however I wished for a very good cause… this canvas will be up for auction at her Breast Cancer Crop. I created this canvas using a TENseconds Studio 12″ x 12″ canvas with a nitch as well as ledger paper from 1933, vintage buttons, old book pages, scrabble tiles, rhinestones, Maya Road trim and chipboard, a vintage flower frog, Stickles and Distress Stickles. The photo inside can be removed and replaced with your own family photo. The handmade flowers are created from old book pages. The instructions on how to create these flowers can be found in my book “Delight In The Details“. I love how they look. The trim has been aged with creamy brown ink. The scallops are accented with Diamond Stickles...

Aug 26, 2010

Gosh my blog is taking a huge hit right now. I guess I will give you a quick run through of my week. Lots of neat things going on. First off I am super excited to be a part of Paper Cowgirl next year. I was thrilled when Cindy asked if I would be the guest speaker and a teacher at her event. This is going to be such a super fun weekend. On a sad note my grandfather has said his good byes and has told everyone he is ready to pass on. If you would please send him comforting thoughts and prayers I would really appreciate it. My Dad has been with him since last Friday. Thankfully my Aunts made it to ME yesterday to see him. So needless to say since...

Having fun with paints

Jun 1, 2010

I have been playing around with a new style that is so funky and whimsical and I am really loving it. Painting seems to be less stressful on my shoulder so I am working in this medium for a bit. You will notice I still included my favorites… vintage ledger paper and sheet music as well as a beautiful vintage rhinestone button. It has been fun venturing outside of my comfort zone. The paints I used  are by Claudine Hellmuth and I think they are awesome. The colors are wonderful and the consistency of each bottle  is perfect. Her paints are super creamy. I used the end of my paintbrush to make the polka dots, a coffee mug to create the white circles, an old stencil I had for the numbers. A charcoal pencil...

I love small houses…

May 11, 2010

I could create an entire village out of this old fashioned putz style house. Really, there are so many wonderful ways to decorate this sweet little house. I have other patterns in my head to create as well but I wanted something simple this go around. I like the simplicity of the black paint against the old book page. Also the accented star… it’s a Texas thing in gold German glass glitter really adds a nice pop of color to the front. Oh and don’t forget the crystal coarse glitter, it adds the perfect amount of sparkle. Tips, Techniques and Tutorials I have been super busy creating some new technique classes to teach at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. My “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” Technique Class will be taught June 12th at...
