Sirens Call

Jul 29, 2011

It’s Cocoa Daisy sneak peek time again and I think you will love the colors and textures of the August kit. I certainly do. The main kit is called “Sirens Call” and Christine has several wonderful add-on kits. I picked “Calypso” and the “Mist and Ink” Add On kits. Christine certainly has an eye for blending patterns and colors. She has the perfect balance of neutrals and brights. I accented the dots on the patterned papers above using Diamond Stickles and stitched and stitched and stitched this project like crazy. Aug. 1st I will get to show you all the projects in full. I had fun creating these little wired button flowers. I used 24 gauge wire if you want to give them a try. I think they look super cute. I altered the...

Sight Seeing and Jenni Bowlin

Jul 25, 2011

The day before CHA opened Ronda, Christine and I walked the Magnificent Mile and came upon a gorgeous church. The First Presbyterian Church building was dedicated on May 10, 1914 and every single square inch of this church is stunning. We could have stayed there all day taking photos. The garden was so peaceful with not one bit of color but green. Just incredible. I love that the plaque near the church entrance says, “This church is open daily for rest, prayer and relaxation.”  Just a little warning… this blog post is heavy on photos. I was not kidding when I said we could have stayed there all day long. So now onto CHA. The day it opened I could not wait to see what my book sponsors where debuting. Well Jenni Bowlin certainly...

All Occasion Card

Jun 30, 2011

Here is a quick card to create and give for any occasion. I used products from the Cocoa Daisy July Main Kit “Urban Loft” and the “Telegraph Hill” Add On Kit. I love the lace paper found in the “Telegraph Hill” Add On Kit. It’s gorgeous and was so hard to make the first cut. I added the vintage milk bottle cap (from my stash) because the cork buttons fit inside so perfectly. Then Jenni Bowlins yellow rhinestone bow topped it off and complimented the Maya Road trim at the same time. I’m in major book editing mode right now so please excuse the shortness of the blog post. But since going outside does not appeal to me one bit since the temps will be 100 degrees all week. Editing is the perfect thing...

Gift Box

Jun 29, 2011

I altered this box using the Main Kit “Urban Loft” by Cocoa Daisy. I plan on placing a gift card inside for a special someone on their birthday. Afterwards they can use the box to store small items inside. Altering items is one of my favorite things to do… I love turning something that was discarded and no longer wanted into a new treasured item. That is one reason my closet looks like a hoarder lives in my studio. I cannot pass up small boxes and paper mache items. I always think, “Oh this would be awesome to alter.” I really like the flowers that come in the “South Loop” Add On Kit. They are prefect to create a little floral grouping. And you know I love the Maya Road Crystal Trinket Pins. There...

The Big Book of Scrapbook Pages

Jun 22, 2011

Have you all seen this book in your local scrapbook or craft stores? If not, you need to look for it as it’s filled with LOADS of inspiration for every scrapbooking topic you can imagine. I was thrilled to be asked to create a few projects for the book. F+W Media included a spotlight on my book “Delight In The Details” along with my two projects. As you can see Jenni Bowlin sponsored products for these two projects. Oh how I love Jenni’s products. I certainly do have a hoarding issue with her items. If you love Jenni Bowlin products as much as I do make sure you check out her Inspiration Blog.… it’s filled with LOTS of incredible projects. Thanks for the sponsorship, Jenni. Here is a closer look at the two projects...

Remember Today…

Jun 6, 2011

Actually I wish the cardstock sticker said “weekend” as it was such a fun one. Friday night, I taught my “Quilted Memories” class at The Crafty Scrapper. I left a few kits with Carolyn if you would like one. Just give her a call at the store: 972–923-3151. My friend Lisa E. joined me at the store which is always fun. We’ve been friends going on 11 years. She is my scrapping buddy. I had some super fun ladies in class and hope to see them again soon because we sure did laugh a lot. After the class was finished Lisa and I stayed and laughed with Carolyn (the owner). The girl cracks me up and is always entertaining. Saturday, Lisa E. and I went to GASC in Arlington to see Carolyn’s awesome booth....

Happy National Scrapbook Day

May 7, 2011

What better way to celebrate NSD than with a giveaway. While I was cleaning out a corner of my studio, I came across two mini album kits of the project I taught in Mykonos, Greece, this past September. It’s a fun mini album to create and can be any theme you want. You get an entire sheet of Jenni Bowlin Reverse Black Stickers so the title and journaling should not be an issue. This kit includes products from Maya Road and Jenni Bowlin and comes with the complete instructions already printed out for you. All you need to add are your photos, Glue Stick Adhesive, Foam Squares, Diamond Stickles, Black Pen, 3mm Cream Self Adhesive Pearls, Creamy Brown Ink and Basic Tools. Two Peas has some awesome NSD Specials so don’t miss out on...

Stanley Ruler Necklace

Apr 20, 2011

Here is something I made with one of the items dad brought me. It’s a necklace made from a 6″ Stanley Ruler. It started out as a bracelet but I was going to have to leave two of the pieces off and did not want to do that so a necklace it became. I must admit it was hard cutting that cute little ruler but I really like it as a necklace so now I’m over it. Sunday night, dad and I went to Lowe’s and got a Dremel. Oh the ideas I have swirling in my head. Dad gave me a quick lesson on how to use all the parts that came with it but I still think there will be many a phone call made his way. But I plan on making some...

Pocket Favors

Apr 15, 2011

These Pocket Favors are perfect to hold all kinds of items to hand out at bridal or baby showers or birthday parties… really these are great for any holiday or special occasion. A group sitting in a bowl waiting to be handed out would look really cute. Especially, if they are all done in different but coordinating papers. Supplies Used: TP Roll, Jenni Bowlin Patterned Paper, Scallop Scissors, Glue Stick Adhesive, Sewing Machine, Cream Thread Instructions: Apply a glue stick type adhesive onto the back of your patterned paper and cover the TP roll with patterned paper. I used Jenni Bowlin’s 4″ patterned paper so I needed 2 sheets. Using a sewing machine  and cream or white thread, stitch the end of the TP roll as shown above. Now here is the tricky part...

I’m home

Feb 3, 2011

It sure did feel great sleeping in my bed last night although I was hanging on for dear life because Chief was hogging my entire side of the bed. I must say the drive was a whole lot of scary getting home. I have never seen so much ice ever in Texas. Ansley has not had school since Monday and will not have school tomorrow either. Tonight and tomorrow morning we are supposed to get snow so no telling what tomorrow will bring in the weather department. Although they say it should get warmer Saturday so the ice should melt. We shall see. I certainly have enough work to keep me busy for the next month as my step-by-step photo shoot is next month. While at CHA I was happy to get a new...

No Stress Just Work…

Oct 24, 2010

This will be my new motto told to me by a sweet friend for the next six months as I will begin working on my SECOND book tomorrow. I am so happy I have been given the chance to work with F & W Media once again. My new book will be technique based just as “Delight In The Details” but it will have step outs on how to recreate not only the techniques but ALSO some of the projects. So excited about this new twist. My first deadline is November 26th so i will be somewhat of a hermit over the next month as these projects will be for the cover and I want them over the top wonderful. Not sure if I can tell you the theme of the book just yet...

Just a little Batty…

Oct 11, 2010

This is how I feel today… so many fun things in the works it is making me a little crazy. Good crazy but still crazy is crazy and I need to focus. So here is the last Halloween chipboard piece that I altered from the Little Yellow Bicycle Jumbo Chipboard set. I think I am going to keep all these grouped together in this arrangement as they add a little Halloween spirit to the room. Supplies Used: Little Yellow Bicycle Jumbo Chipboard Shapes, Jenni Bowlin (Family Tree) Uncle Jim Patterned Paper, Maya Road Felt Beaded Blossom — Black, a Black Gelly Roll Pen, Gold Stickles, Brown and Gold Seam Binding Trick or Treat Boo Spooky And a Little Boo to you Also I have two new classes scheduled at The Crafty Scrapper. “You’ve Got...

and a little Boo to you…

Oct 10, 2010

This “Boo” would make a perfect mask if you wanted to do so. I was being a bit lazy yesterday and didn’t want to drive to the craft store to purchase a wooden dowel but the “O’s” are perfect for eye openings. This chipboard shape is covered with Jenni Bowlin paper, outlined with Platinum Stickles then covered with Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter. I then accented the upper portion of the “B” with Maya Road embellishments and some seam binding. Supplies Used: Little Yellow Bicycle Jumbo Chipboard Shapes, Jenni Bowlin (Family Tree) Cousin Rose Patterned Paper, Maya Road Crystal Star Pin, Maya Road Vintage Pearl Pin, Maya Road Felt Beaded Blossom — Brown, a Black Gelly Roll Pen, Platinum Stickles, Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter is not listed in the store but check out...

Well maybe not so much… maybe more cutie than spooky. I like how this trio looks together and think I’m going to keep them in this greenery. Sunday, I will post the Bat and Boo. Now I am off to create a card class for The Crafty Scrapper. If you are local I hope to see you there. Carolyn’s store is such a happy place to be. Trick or Treat

Oct 7, 2010

I’m not one for scary Halloween… I like cute and whimsical Halloween so when I received these cute Jumbo Chipboard Shapes from Little Yellow Bicycle I knew just what I was going to do… cover them with Jenni Bowlin pattern papers and accent them with lots of Maya Road goodies. Today, I worked on this cute little pumpkin. Tomorrow, I will show you the ghost. I can’t make up my mind if I want to attach a dowel to the back and make it a pick, make a hanger out of a bow or just tuck them here and there around the house as they are… what do you think? Supplies Used: Little Yellow Bicycle Jumbo Chipboard Shapes ~ Pumpkin, Jenni Bowlin (Family Tree) Aunt Charlotte, Cousin Rose, Aunt Kathryn Patterned Papers, Jenni Bowlin...

Boobie Canvas…

Oct 5, 2010

I bet that title got your attention. Remember the canvas I did and said it was for a great cause… well below is all the info on how you can try to win mine or any of the other talented artists who participated in Cheryl Darrow’s canvas raffle. It would be awesome if she could send a great big fat check to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. You can remove the Jenni Bowlin vintage image inside the canvas niche. I think it would be awesome to place your own family photograph inside. The ledger paper used on my canvas is from 1933, the book page flowers are from an old American Literature book and the vintage shell buttons are from a collection a man had been collecting for YEARS. He had over...

Cocoa Daisy Destination ~ Mykonos

Sep 28, 2010

This past week was spent with a wonderful group of ladies (as well as a few husbands) from all over the world and a group of teachers (Ali Edwards, Jenni Bowlin and Karen Russell) who I have admired for a very long time. I still cannot believe I was lucky enough to be a part of it all. Tricia and Elina did such a great job selecting the accommodations, the food for our breakfast and dinner each day, the cocktails each evening as well as having a cooking class and Greek dance lessons at the hotel. Each night was a special dinner out at a restaurant with either Ali Edwards or the Daisy Instructors, a lunch with Jenni Bowlin or a tour with Karen Russell. There was a tour provided to see the ancient...

A group of us went to lunch with Jenni Bowlin and I was one of them… certainly no surprise to you as it is no secret that I love and adore Jenni and her products. The restaurant Tricia took us to was a really sweet restaurant that was seaside. The view was awesome. the colorful flags were so pretty as we walked into the restaurant their menu felt just like a book… I had to keep reminding me with what Ali says… we do not steal or borrow we gather.… I so wanted to run out with this menu inside the restaurant… loved the way they folded the napkins to look like party hats the view was gorgeous as you could see the sea and all the white buildings of Mykonos Yes I ate...

Jenni Bowlin Paint Dabbers…

Sep 13, 2010

Did you know Jenni Bowlin now has acrylic paint dabbers and ink pads that match her color schemes perfectly? Well if you didn’t she sure does and they are awesome. I got to play with some while creating this mini album for a guest blog post on her Inspiration blog. I love Chili Powder as it is a wonderful shade of red. I used the Chili Powder, Lemon Drop, Malted Milk and Fountain Pen when creating this mini album. If you want to see photos of the inside visit her Inspiration blog… And I cannot believe I head for Greece this Friday. I am running around like a crazy woman getting all my last minute items and hoping everything will fit into one suitcase… I really do not want to bring two. Thankfully I...

A Gray Sky and some sprinkles…

Sep 2, 2010

means it is a perfect day to work in the scraproom and what better products to play with then Jenni Bowlin and Maya Road. I have to say I am in love with Jenni’s new paints ( have not tried the inks yet but I am certain I will love them as well) the colors match exactly with all her inspiring products. I still need a few more colors of her paints and ink which I will be purchasing soon. I gotta have them all. Once I finish this mini album it will be filled with cute photos of Ansley and her friends. As you can see I started out with a Maya Road 4″ binder album, painted it with Jenni’s new paints (Chili Powder “inside”, Lemon Drops and Malted Milk “outside”) and plan...
