Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers

Feb 11, 2011

I bet you were expecting another tag using Perfect Pearls? Well this one features Ranger’s Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers. When using paint I find it most inspiring to create whimsical pieces with brighter colors rather than my usual vintage style and shades. Kinda strange when I think about it. Also, did you notice I used my Canvas Album as inspiration for this tag? If you did, you are a very devoted blogger. I always find it fun to use items around my scraproom to create designs… one of the simplest things to create are polka dots with the non-bristle end of my paintbrushes. All you do is dip the end of the brush into the lid of the paintbrush and start creating dots. Clean up is super simple too. All you have to do...

Condolences and another tag…

Feb 10, 2011

First I must give my heart felt condolences to my Aunt and cousins. Yesterday, my Uncle David passed away peacefully at home. Uncle David was a quiet man yet when you talked with him he was so interesting as he could talk about all kinds of wonderful topics. Sadly, 10 years ago he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and not long after that Parkinson’s disease. Aunt Brenda cared for him at home every single day from the time of his diagnosis. Even though it is a blessing Uncle David has passed on it is still so sad and he will be missed. Aunt Brenda was a wonderful example of how family should care for family. We never heard her speak of any frustrations which I am certain there were many and we never ever heard...

Jan 20, 2011

I was asked to create a few things for Ranger to display at CHA. One of the products they wanted me to create with was their Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE). I had not really played around with this all that much but let me tell you I now have a serious addiction… really, if you have not created with this you need to give it a try. It is FUN and comes in several different colors. I used their Platinum, Black and Gold to create this wall hanging. Supplies Used: UTEE – Black, Platinum, Gold, Clear, Platinum & Crystal Stickles, Distress Embossing Ink, Maya Road Philadelphia Uppercase Chipboard Alphabet, Maya Road William Mini Chipboard Alphabet, Perfect Medium, Perfect Pearls – Perfect Pearl, Perfect Pearls Mist – Perfect Pearl, Heavy White Cardstock, Archival Ink...

What was I thinking?

Feb 11, 2010

Seriously, I had no idea I would have such a wonderful response over my book. I honestly put my heart and soul into each project and wrote in the hopes that you would feel like we were sitting at the kitchen table chatting. You all have been so incredibly wonderful and I thank you so much. This being said I had NO idea I would be so busy after I came home from CHA. My feet hit the floor running. Everyone that purchased a book from me… it is on the way so start stalking the mailman now. I have been answering email like crazy so if you sent me one and I have not responded as of yet please know I am answering them as quickly as I can. I am also designing...

New Products I love…

Jan 16, 2010

Since Maya Road sneak peeks will continue Monday I thought I would show you a few products already revealed that I really love. I love how gorgeous this Red Medallion Flower accented with a Crystal and Vintage Black Pearl Pin looks next to an Uppercase Philadelphia Chipboard letter that is altered with fine silver german glass glitter. You can bet I will be tinting some Crystal Pins with my copic markers or alcohol inks using this Tim’s cool fillable pen in the near future. I love how cute this heart and arrow from the Love Mini Chipboard Set looks altered with vintage sheet music and fine silver german glass glitter. It is attached to one of the Mixed Scallop Triangle Banners from the Mini Set. And I think this button from the Mini Button...

Forced Creative Vacation…

Aug 14, 2009

For the past few weeks I have had back spasms which has caused me to take a forced creative vacation. Which by the way is complete and total torture for me. But sitting and creating for any length of time is just too painful. Since I really love sharing tutorials on my blog and having the issue of not being able to sit upright for too long a period this has not allowed much blog time. And since I am working on my All Hallows Eve online workshop my sitting time is very limited. So what I plan on doing for the next several weeks is share some tips and products I really love. I get emails sent to me all the time asking what type of tools I use and prefer for certain...

Happy National Scrapbook Day…

May 2, 2009

Today I finally get to debut my “Vintage Sampler”. This is the first of many free online workshops I plan to share. For those of you who do not know about this workshop you can check it out here. Here is a little snippet of my thoughts behind the creation of this project. I wanted to create a project that incorporated items that reminded me of home as well as the strong family bond most of us share. I decided a vintage sampler would be the perfect project to accomplish this task. The letter “P” symbolizes my family name, the milk cap symbolizes how we as families nourish each other, the buttons and pearls symbolize how we mend each others spirits during difficult times, the vintage flocked flowers symbolize how families help each other...

Ever wonder how I work…

Mar 12, 2009

well I work best in small tight areas as you can see from this photo. This workspace is about 10 x 6 and I mean inches not feet. I made a project today in this teeny tiny space. Tomorrow I hope to work in at least a 12 x 12 inch space. To the right of this tight little space is this big mess but you can see some of my favorite embellishments and accents for projects… Stickles, Pearls, Scallop Ric Rac, Fiskars Tools, Cream Embroidery Floss, Tim Holtz Distressing Tool (seriously the best out there), Plastic Spoon for Glittering, Aleene’s Paper Glaze, Collage Pauge, Old Book Page etc. Wish I could show you the project I made using these items… I guess you will have to wait until Oh mid February of next...

A little Valentine Tutorial…

Jan 19, 2009

I guess you can tell I LOVE Maya Road. Seriously love everything Deb and Caroline make and the great thing about their products are they mix and match perfectly. I always look at their coaster albums and think they would make wonderful fabric patterns. Well needing a break from book projects yesterday I decided to use the bird pattern to create my own fabric embellishment. Talk about super EASY to make. Seriously easy. This is the first piece of fabric anything I have ever sewn. Yes I got the sewing machine to sew on paper. Anyway, I thought I would create a little tutorial thinking you might like to give this a try. Supplies Needed: 2-Ring Heart Binder (1 page) Sheer Heart Scallop Book (1 page) Heart Chipboard Book (1 page) Bird Chipboard Book...

Homecoming in Texas…

Oct 3, 2008

WARNING… very, very, very long post about 2.5 days in my life. Centennial High School has their homecoming game tonight. If you live in Texas you know all about the MUMS! Those of you that do not, well… girls and boys wear them… girls have these big honkin things pined to their shirts that hang almost to their ankles and boys wear a smaller version around their arms attached to a garter. Well Ansley and her boyfriend Taylor aren’t going to the dance (decided to just hang out instead) so I wasn’t really sure how all this mum stuff worked. So I asked Ansley last week to please find out for me ASAP as I needed to know the garter etiquette. Well she found out for me all right… TUESDAY night at 11! I...
