CHA Workshop… hope to see you there!

Dec 11, 2009

I am thrilled to be able to teach a workshop at CHA this year. F & W Media asked me to create a project using techniques taught in my book “Delight In The Details” which will be released at the show. Of course I was thrilled to have been asked and certainly accepted the opportunity. I will only be teaching this workshop once and I kept it small… only 50 people as I really like to be able to interact with as many people one on one as possible. I will also share a few make n takes that you can easily recreate in your store. Just a little added bonus in the class. I will have instructions available via email in PDF form for those stores that are present. Below is a sneak...

Let it Snow…

Dec 4, 2009

I gotta say I am impressed with myself today… two big blog posts in one day.… As promised here are the instructions for this sweet snowman ornament that was part of Debby’s 12 Days of Home for the Holidays. You want to make sure to keep checking Debby’s blog because she has a new designer featured each day. I love reading how others preserve their holiday traditions. How do you preserve yours? Instructions: Using a paintbrush apply Manila paint all along the sides of your paper mache ornament, let dry. Cover the top of your ornament with vintage sheet music. Using ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink — Creamy Brown, ink the edges of the paper mache ornament. Using a paintbrush apply Collage Pauge Decoupage — Glossy all over the top of the vintage sheet music...

Mittens and Snowflakes

Nov 6, 2009

I love the cuff on these mittens. They remind me of when I was around 3 or 4 years old living in Kittery, Maine. One winter I remember sitting in the back seat of my Mom and Dad’s blue Volkswagen Beetle with my hands all toasty and warm inside my brand new muff. I loved that muff and thought I was something else using it. I think it’s funny how a little piece of craft Boa can remind me of something long ago. Instructions: Cover the front and back of three pages from a Maya Road Mitten Chipboard Coaster Book with vintage wallpaper. I used Aleene’s Paper Glaze adhesive when attaching the wallpaper. Sand the edges of each mitten using a sanding block or Emory board. Apply a clear drying liquid adhesive around the...

And for you, SURPRISE another Christmas project. I have a feeling this year Old Fashioned Mica Snowflakes are going to be on everything! For the time being this little gem will sit in my curio cabinet until I can find it’s perfect little holiday spot.  I love how the light catches the glitter, tinsel and mica snowflakes… it is so sparkly. Tomorrow, I will share a little project that will make the cutest holiday swap gift. Instructions: First pull out the cord hanger on the ornament as you will not need it. Paint a cube shaped paper mache ornament using a Manila colored acrylic paint. Once dry ink lightly the edges using ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink in Creamy Brown. While the ornament is drying bleach three different sized Bottle Brush trees (4.5″, 3.5″, 2.5″)...

Kinda Sad…

May 20, 2009

Yesterday I received my complimentary issue of Memory Makers July/Aug issue… This layout is part of the “Trends To Try Today” article by MMM ’08 Staci Etheridge. It shouldn’t be too hard to guess my trend… Glitter! I used pre-glittered patterned paper and chipboard letters, created my own glittered brads, accented patterns on my papers using Stickles and altered chipboard using loose glitter. Yes, I love glitter. It is sad to think that this is my last publication with Memory Makers. I have so loved working with everyone and will certainly miss them and this...

Jan 19, 2009

I guess you can tell I LOVE Maya Road. Seriously love everything Deb and Caroline make and the great thing about their products are they mix and match perfectly. Well needing a break from book projects yesterday I decided to use the bird pattern to create my own fabric embellishment. Talk about super EASY to make. Seriously easy. This is the first piece of fabric anything I have ever sewn. Yes I got the sewing machine to sew on paper. Family Artifacts…

Aug 19, 2008

I was given a Masters Challenge and thought sometimes it’s not about the people or the moment I like to scrap about but the item. So here is my challenge.… “Get out your trim, buttons, chipboard and patterned paper and create a layout about a childhood toy or family artifact that still brings you joy. Post your responses to the creativity challenge in the forum at memorymakersmagazine.com/masterschallenge. The hobby horse shown in this layout was put through some very vigorous rides. My brother Richard would rock back and forth as far as the springs would allow and go as fast as he could. Sometimes this action would lift the metal frame off the floor which scared me. He rode this hobby horse like a true cowboy on a mission. I on the other hand...
