Jenni Bowlin Studio ~ Congrats Card

Apr 11, 2013

It’s no secret I love Jenni Bowlin Studio products. I’ve been so lucky to have her sponsor all three of my books and have used her products since she started manufacturing items. When I saw the new line Modern Mercantile designed by Lisa Dickinson at CHA‑W I was in love. Modern Mercantile works perfectly with all of Jenni’s amazing embellishments. Today’s card is 1 of 4 that I’ll be sharing with you over the next several days. All the completed cards measure 4″ x 5.5″. To create this card I used Modern Mercantile ~ Miscellany, Patchwork,  Etcetera & Hodge Podge patterned papers, a Maya Road Kraft Scroll Frame Journaling Tag, a JBS True Vintage Milk Bottle Cap & a Flatback Reader Flair Piece, some Maya Road Linen Burlap Trim, a JBS Kraft Feather Tags, Vintage Photo Distress...

CHA‑W 2013 ~ W should stand for Whirlwind

Jan 21, 2013

CHA~W was a whirlwind for sure. There were so many exciting things to see and do I have no idea where to start. To me CHA is like a mini reunion, it’s always wonderful seeing old friends and making new ones.  Below are the adorable make n takes Caroline designed for me to teach each day of the show. I love that she always has a different one each day. And can you believe some attendees have created every make n take I’ve done with Maya Road since my first show with them in 2007. The Maya Road make n takes were so popular that each day by 1:00 we finished all we had prepared and had to scramble to come up with a new one. My table is always crazy with a line...

CHA-Summer 2012 Day 2

Jul 18, 2012

Today, I was in the Maya Road booth all day doing make-n-takes. Let me tell you my feet and knees hurt so bad tonight I can hardly stand it. But before heading to bed I wanted to show you some of my favorite Maya Road products which just so happen to be pretty popular with store owners too. But before I show you these photos let me first show you this one… this is Terra Cameron with Simon Says Stamp. You can purchase my Antiquated Collection stamp sets from Simon Says Stamp HERE. If you ever have a chance to chat with Terra and/or Heidi you will love every second. They are the sweetest. Okay now on to the photos of my favorite new Maya Road products. Make n Take Giveaway

Feb 7, 2012

The last day of CHA‑W, I showed lots of people how to create this super cute flower pin. You use about 12″ of Maya Road Satin Pleat Trim, 12″ of Maya Road Pleated Tulle and a Maya Road Antique Jewel Button for the center. To create the flower all you do is attach the pleated tulle on top of the satin pleat using Fabri-Tac adhesive at the sewn edge of each piece of trim. Then starting at one end  loosely begin rolling the two trims until you get to the opposite end. Next, apply Fabri-Tac to a punched patterned paper circle and attach the bottom end (sewn edging) of the rolled trims to the punched circle, let the trims spread out a bit to resemble a rose. Then using a hot glue gun, attach...

Maya Road DT Member Canvases

Feb 4, 2012

I always find it fun to see what members of the Maya Road Design Team create when given the same challenge. Each CHA‑W Caroline gives the DT members a blank canvas and tells us to alter it as we want, she only requires that we stay true to our style and include any Maya Road products we want… it is such a fun challenge. During CHA I took photos of each  DT member’s canvas so I could share… I hope you’re ready for some amazing inspiration because this post is filled with LOTS! Andrea Wiebe Angella Peardon  Anne Jo Lexander also known as Ania Caroline Lau Dina Wakley Emily Pitts Julia Stainton Karen Grunberg Linda Albrecht Lisa Pace that’s Me Ronda Palazzari Shelley Haganman  I wasn’t kidding when I said loads of inspiration. Miniature Charms

Dec 14, 2011

I’ve been having fun creating these miniature charms in between working on CHA projects and other design commitments. Yes, it’s that time of year again… CHA‑W is just a little over a month away. I will be working in the Maya Road booth again with some wonderful make n takes lined up and have two book signings for my new book “Delight In The Seasons”.… I cannot wait for this book to debut. I’m so proud of it! Ok on to the charms… the base measure 3/4 inches square and are actually vintage bingo pieces. I attached heavy white cardstock on the top of each bingo piece then using Coffee Archival Ink and several different Antiquated Collection stamps I stamped parts of the images from the Perfumery (crown), Pocket Watch and Robe Pattern (Fine...

Leaving on a jet plane…

Apr 28, 2011

I’m heading to Ranger U today and cannot wait to play all weekend with a group of friends I’ve never met, yet feel like I already know.  We have been emailing and planning for weeks. New Jersey just might not ever be the same again once we hit the streets. So while I’m gone I thought I would give you all a little something to create this weekend. “You R 2 Tweet” is now a free online workshop. I hope you have fun creating the mini banner. This is a class I taught at CHA when my book debuted at CHA‑W 2010. You can use my book “Delight In The Details” to reference the techniques used in this project. The page numbers are included in the instructions. To gain access to the workshop click...

Stanley Ruler Necklace

Apr 20, 2011

Here is something I made with one of the items dad brought me. It’s a necklace made from a 6″ Stanley Ruler. It started out as a bracelet but I was going to have to leave two of the pieces off and did not want to do that so a necklace it became. I must admit it was hard cutting that cute little ruler but I really like it as a necklace so now I’m over it. Sunday night, dad and I went to Lowe’s and got a Dremel. Oh the ideas I have swirling in my head. Dad gave me a quick lesson on how to use all the parts that came with it but I still think there will be many a phone call made his way. But I plan on making some...

Altered Paper Mache Book

Feb 15, 2011

This altered piece uses all brand new CHA‑W release products by Tim Holtz. I was so happy to see the Fractured Doll in my box of products to design with.… I love these dolls and you get two different sized dolls per package! Next to the white seam binding I attached one of his new Chain Tassels. These are the perfect accent for a project and I love the movement of the tassel. The patterned papers used are from his new Paper Stash — Crowded Attic line. This paper line is so pretty and has designs in it for all styles. The butterflies and moths behind the Fractured Doll and among the paper flowers inside the book are from Tim’s new Salvage Stickers — Crowded Attic. I really like the butterflies and moths images....

Ranger Designer Challenge

Feb 14, 2011

I was thrilled when Ranger asked if I would be interested in creating a canvas for their Designer Challenge. I could not reply back fast enough with a very excited yes! They sent each designer a box filled with a 12 x 12 frame, Perfect Pearls and Perfect Pearl Mists and told us to create something that reflected our style. Well I knew mine had to include book pages, Platinum Stickles and glitter and once I got started I could not stop. I used loads of Ranger product and when you look at the list below you’ll realize I’m not kidding. It was so much fun to sit and just create whatever came to mind. I cut the grungepaper into squares, embossed them using my cuttlebug then sewed them all together with a zigzag...

Set Up Day…

Jan 28, 2011

Setting up the booth begins. Yep, all these crates contain the product you want and purchase. But before the store owners can get the CHA‑W release products into their stores setting up the booth and getting all the products and show samples up for display must be done. This is certainly NOT the GLAMOROUS side of trade shows. But at least Caroline makes it as fun as possible. Sarah and Laura find the humor in lots of things during the process and make you laugh but David well… he is like a grumpy old man. The opening up of the crates… let the madness begin. David a.k.a Mr. Grumpy pants, Caroline and Laura. We just finished putting down the floor and are now getting ready to put up the walls. Walls are up and...

No Stress Just Work…

Oct 24, 2010

This will be my new motto told to me by a sweet friend for the next six months as I will begin working on my SECOND book tomorrow. I am so happy I have been given the chance to work with F & W Media once again. My new book will be technique based just as “Delight In The Details” but it will have step outs on how to recreate not only the techniques but ALSO some of the projects. So excited about this new twist. My first deadline is November 26th so i will be somewhat of a hermit over the next month as these projects will be for the cover and I want them over the top wonderful. Not sure if I can tell you the theme of the book just yet...

New online workshop “You R 2 Tweet”

Feb 20, 2010

This “You R 2 Tweet” mini banner is the fun project I taught at CHA‑W in Anaheim this past January. The great thing about this online workshop is you don’t have to show up at 7:00 a.m. to start creating like I and everyone else had to do. You get to create this project in the comforts of your own home and on your own time. I tell ya not being a morning person sure did make that a tough time slot for a class but we all made the best of it (most with Starbucks in hand) and had a great time creating. This mini banner was created so everyone could finish the project in 90 min. which explains why I only used 3 pages from the Maya Road Mini 2‑Ring Triangle Banner...

Webster’s Pages…

Jul 6, 2009

I am so happy, I can finally tell you all my news… I am now part of the Webster’s Pages Design Team. I was lucky enough to have Webster’s Pages as a book sponsor and now get to be part of their amazing team. If you are not familiar with their products you really need to check them out here. Their products, color schemes and designs are incredible. Today, I created this brooch using the trim and lace they debuted at CHA‑W 2009. It is their Ivory and Cream, Coco Ruffle, Spring Green Lattice and Turquoise Petite. I am going to attach this to either a purse or t‑shirt… not sure which one just yet. Vintage Brooch Tutorial Cut a piece of Ivory and Cream lace to 12″ in length. Thread a sewing needle...
