Home and Missing the Old Family Homestead

I just returned from my yearly visit to Buckhannon, WV with mom and dad. I always love driving them up to see family. We have the best time together sitting in the car for 19 plus hours and literally laugh until we cry. It’s always a wonderful adventure with these two. But once home I miss seeing them every day and miss enjoying the quietness of sitting on my aunt and uncle’s porch listening to birds as they fly by, listening to a turkey or two and watching the deer eat pears and apples from trees planted by my great great aunts and uncles many many years ago. Stopping to Smell the Flowers

For the next 10 days I am going to do my best to unwind. Those of you who know me, know I’m wound up tighter than an 8 day clock. Well, for the next 10 days, I’m determined to unwind and not think of my “To-Do List” that is waiting for me when I get home. Although, just typing the words “To-Do List” makes my inner 8 day clock wind up. Yikes! Anyway, back to the unwinding… Yesterday, I started my day looking at this view. Back to Reality…

Today, summer is over as Ansley started back to school as a senior. My goodness did these years pass by fast. I still cannot believe this is her last year in high school. I best enjoy her as much as possible this year as I know she will be ready to fly the coup soon. Which brings me to ask this question… What in the world will Alan and I do with just the two of us at home? We have always had a child in the house as I married Alan when Terri was 2 years old.
