Need a crown, of course you do!!!

Mar 18, 2015

Saturday, I was at The Crafty Scrapper attending a birthday crop for my super sweet & awesome friend Trisha Perkins. At her party, she had Cheryl Darrow of Ten Seconds Studio come and instruct everyone on how to make leather crowns. This was WAY WAY WAY out of my comfort zone as I’m a vintage paper kinda girl and there was zero vintage paper to be found here, but let me tell you I now have a new addiction. Working with emboss-able leather is so fun and if you ever have the chance to take one of Cheryl’s crown classes do it, you will LOVE it! Cheryl brought her tools  and molds for the non-doodle calligraphy girls in the class, which as you can see I was one of those girls. Once everyone had their leather pieces embossed...

Jenni Bowlin Studio ~ Happy Birthday Card

Apr 16, 2013

Here is card 4 of 4 of my all occasion card set. I had a blast creating with Modern Mercantile and plan on using every single scrap I have remaining. It’s just too inspiring to toss away any scrap no matter how big or small. The 3D collage of Maya Road flowers accented with the butterfly & star pins, Doodlebug Design buttons and JBS milk cap completes this card perfectly. Creating 3D collages is one of my favorite things to do and the little groupings make a wonderful impact. And here are all the products I used to create this card. Jenni Bowlin Modern Mercantile ~ Patchwork, Hodge Podge & Miscellany, one Maya Road Kraft Note Envelope, one medium Jenni Bowlin True Vintage Milk Cap, one Maya Road Silver Fox Vintage Lace Mum, one Maya...

Studio Makeover ~ Part 2

Mar 27, 2013

I am so close to being finished with my studio makeover. I just need to hang the curtains over the shelving unit to the left, find a small piece for additional storage to put up on the shelves along the wall on the far left then hang some vintage photos I have and bam… it’s done. I’m really loving the mix of all the things I love with my supplies. To me, personal touches are what make a room warm and inviting.  So let me give you a close up tour and show you how I combined personal treasures and vintage finds among my crafty products. This is what I see when sitting at my work table. I’m using a berry basket to hold my adhesives, a mini pie tin works perfectly for my...

Maya Road Sneak Peek ~ Wood Bird Cages

Jan 8, 2013

In between book projects, I squeezed in a little creative time to make some small CHA projects for Maya Road. I must say, I’m LOVING the new Wood Bird Cages (page 1 in the catalog) and 4″ x 6″ Card Sentiment Words Stamp Set (page 4 in the catalog). This tag was fun and pretty quick to create. I started with an Inkssentials #8 Manila Tag and covered it with Pink Paislee patterned paper. I then used the Maya Road Ornate Feathered Friends 4″ x 6″ stamp set as a background stamp (page 15 in the catalog). I then machine stitched a straight stitch all around the inside edge of the tag and distressed and inked the edges. Tip: I leave the stamps on the clear sheet as the come when purchased then ink the stamps with...

Blast from the Past 3

Aug 7, 2012

This is the mini album that started it all… I wanted to create something special for my oldest daughter Terri, who was getting ready to celebrate her 17th birthday. I had seen lots of mini albums in the gallery at Two Peas In A Bucket and decided Terri’s upcoming birthday was just the push I needed to jump into the world of creating mini albums. At first I was scared to death because I had no clue what in the world I was doing or even how to begin. I went to a scrapbook store which was just down the street and started looking at all the products. Mind you, this was a very strange world to me. I was still learning what Rub ons and brads were and never mind the overwhelming feeling...

A Birthday Luncheon Surprise

Jun 28, 2012

Madelyn had a super special day, yesterday. In this photo she had no clue what fun was headed her way. Before coming to see us this week, she discovered there was an American Girl store in Dallas. Madelyn LOVES her American Girl My Twin and wanted so badly to go and get her dolls ears pierced. So me being me could not just settle for that knowing her 9th birthday was so close… July 2nd. Before she arrived I called and made reservations for a surprise birthday luncheon in her honor. Ansley and Terri were able to come celebrate with us and my mom and dad and her mom and Malcolm made sure to send her money (unknowingly to her it was tucked inside her suitcase) so Madelyn could purchase her beloved McKenna doll. The...

Today, marks my mom’s 70th birthday!!! Or maybe I should say, today marks the 35th anniversary of her 35th birthday? If you have my book “Delight in the Season Crafting a Year of Memorable Holidays and Celebrations” you know she and I have created all my life. So in honor of mom’s birthday/anniversary celebration, how about a book giveaway? All you have to do is leave mom a birthday wish in this blog post, then when we hit 70 wishes I’ll have her pick a winner for a signed copy of “Delight In The Seasons.” This is one of my favorite layouts in “Delight In The Seasons” of my mom and her mother. It really captures both of them so well. Vintage inspired patterned papers, fabric cabbage roses, leaf pins, butterfly and lots of...

A Wilton Grad Confession

Feb 29, 2012

Hi, my name is Lisa and I’m a Wilton cake decorating graduate. I’ve decorated cakes and cupcakes for years but I do have a little secret that I must share/confess. If you are in a crunch for time this cake is awesome, easy and keeps your kitchen spotless (well as spotless as it was before you started, this cake is amazing but not a miracle worker) there is no mess to clean up what so ever. So what’s the secret you ask… well, I’m super lucky that Tom Thumb (local grocery store) is just around the corner from our house. Their bakery makes an incredible fudge iced chocolate 8 in. round double layered cake. It’s only $7.99 if you use your rewards card or $11.99 if you don’t. Ansley loves it and we have been...

Just a note.

Aug 19, 2011

Hello again! Christine from Cocoa Daisy here to share a couple fun cards I made using this month’s kit “Siren’s Call”. Every month before I put my kit away to start working with the next one I like to make a couple cards with the leftover bits on my desk. This month’s kit had the perfect bright, primary colors to create a couple cheery cards. For this first card I punched 1″ circles from the Cosmo Cricket paper and then ran them through my sewing machine, letting the machine run a few stitches in between each circle to create a banner like affect. I laid them out on the card in random order, placing foam adhesive under some to add a little dimension. I finished off the card with a tag and this cute...

Vintage Girl Birthday Card

Aug 17, 2011

Hi all!  It’s Darcy from Pink Persimmon again.  This week my sister, Judi, created this set of cards using our new Hello Vintage Girl stamp set and a sneak peek of some ATC patterns that we are releasing at the end of the month. (wink…you’re the first to see them!) Judi had so much fun making these envelopes look just like a vintage pattern.  She even created a template to share with you today.  Download the envelope template at our website here.  It is sized to be similar to an A2 card, so it fits a standard 4.25″x5.5″ card inside. Our Hello Vintage Girl set is really fun to use with paper piecing.  Stamp the outline of the girl on to the envelope or tag first, then stamp her onto another piece of white...

My Friend Card

Aug 5, 2011

The embellishment on this card can be created and used for so many different themes. I love making them for birthday cards and other special occasions. All you need are two different sized scallop circle punches. I used the Fiskars Extra Large and Large Scallop Circle Punches, patterned paper, the button is optional as you can place a sentiment in the center if you would like, some ribbon, pop dots and Stickles (of course). Punch one scalloped circle using each punch, place the smaller scallop circle onto the center of the large scallop using pop dots, cut two pieces of ribbon to the desired lengths and attach them to the back of the large scallop circle. I use Fabri-Tac as I find this holds trims better and you use far less liquid adhesive. You...

Pocket Favors

Apr 15, 2011

These Pocket Favors are perfect to hold all kinds of items to hand out at bridal or baby showers or birthday parties… really these are great for any holiday or special occasion. A group sitting in a bowl waiting to be handed out would look really cute. Especially, if they are all done in different but coordinating papers. Supplies Used: TP Roll, Jenni Bowlin Patterned Paper, Scallop Scissors, Glue Stick Adhesive, Sewing Machine, Cream Thread Instructions: Apply a glue stick type adhesive onto the back of your patterned paper and cover the TP roll with patterned paper. I used Jenni Bowlin’s 4″ patterned paper so I needed 2 sheets. Using a sewing machine  and cream or white thread, stitch the end of the TP roll as shown above. Now here is the tricky part...

Birthday Box

Feb 18, 2011

This is a small gift box for a special birthday someone. I think my favorite part is the vial with the candle inside and the make a wish journaling strip wrapped around it. My husband Alan was looking at me a tad bit strangely as I was burning down the candle so it would fit inside. He is not a visual person so he could not figure out what in the world I was doing. But once he saw the finished project it all made sense to him and he loved it. I really like the tissue tape bow too… it is covered in crystal coarse glitter and outlined with Platinum Stickles. Anything birthday themed has to have glitter. Ha who am I kidding, it’s more like anything I create has to have glitter....

I’m home

Feb 3, 2011

It sure did feel great sleeping in my bed last night although I was hanging on for dear life because Chief was hogging my entire side of the bed. I must say the drive was a whole lot of scary getting home. I have never seen so much ice ever in Texas. Ansley has not had school since Monday and will not have school tomorrow either. Tonight and tomorrow morning we are supposed to get snow so no telling what tomorrow will bring in the weather department. Although they say it should get warmer Saturday so the ice should melt. We shall see. I certainly have enough work to keep me busy for the next month as my step-by-step photo shoot is next month. While at CHA I was happy to get a new...

CHA Day 3

Feb 1, 2011

What a great day today was. Thank you to all my sweet friends who came by the booth to wish me a happy birthday. It was so sweet of all of you. Those of you that decided to sing happy birthday to me I thank you too even though I wanted to run and hide. It was funny and I must admit so sweet. Carolyn and Keri made me a birthday card out of one of the catalogs they got at the show. I will have to take a photo of it tomorrow so you can see… it is too cute!  Caroline and David took all the Roadies out to eat and surprised me with a wonderful brownie and singing waiter after dinner. Yes I was beet red, wanting to hide but was touched...

CHA Day 2…

Jan 31, 2011

Over 100 make-n-takes and yards and yards of Pleat Satin Edging having been cut, day 2 of CHA has come to an end. Tomorrow I will be with Maya Road from 10:00 until 12:30. Then at 1:00 I will be doing a book signing and make-n-take for F+W Media (booth #2234) until 2:00. From 2:00 to 2:30 I will be doing another book signing for R+M West Coast Distributors (booth #608). Now remember, since I am on a tight schedule F+W Media will be handing out only 20 tickets to those in line just before my book signing and make-n-take. Inspirational Baubles…

Jan 21, 2011

Not that I don’t already have enough to keep me busy with CHA  just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to make something small to randomly hand out to a few people each day at CHA. Just little random acts of inspiration and kindness. And yes, it does involve UTEE. I tell ya this stuff is so fun. And I am so glad to hear some of you are going to wipe the dust off your jars and use yours. I got lots of email yesterday thanking me for the UTEE inspiration. Just remember I WARNED YOU… this stuff is addicting. I plan on altering 14 of these little hearts. Each one will have a different word and different embellishments. I will post a tutorial on how I made them in...
