Birthday Box

Feb 18, 2011

This is a small gift box for a special birthday someone. I think my favorite part is the vial with the candle inside and the make a wish journaling strip wrapped around it. My husband Alan was looking at me a tad bit strangely as I was burning down the candle so it would fit inside. He is not a visual person so he could not figure out what in the world I was doing. But once he saw the finished project it all made sense to him and he loved it. I really like the tissue tape bow too… it is covered in crystal coarse glitter and outlined with Platinum Stickles. Anything birthday themed has to have glitter. Ha who am I kidding, it’s more like anything I create has to have glitter....

I’m home

Feb 3, 2011

It sure did feel great sleeping in my bed last night although I was hanging on for dear life because Chief was hogging my entire side of the bed. I must say the drive was a whole lot of scary getting home. I have never seen so much ice ever in Texas. Ansley has not had school since Monday and will not have school tomorrow either. Tonight and tomorrow morning we are supposed to get snow so no telling what tomorrow will bring in the weather department. Although they say it should get warmer Saturday so the ice should melt. We shall see. I certainly have enough work to keep me busy for the next month as my step-by-step photo shoot is next month. While at CHA I was happy to get a new...

Snowglobe Class…

Nov 30, 2010

I’m so looking forward to this weekend as Trisha Conlon and I will be teaching our “Winters Wonderland Snowglobe” all day workshop at The Crafty Scrapper. Today I will be busy kitting my part of the class and typing up instructions. I will help you with the paint and paper part, Trisha will help you with the snowglobe assembly and soldering part. It is going to be so much fun and lunch is included. I really wish you could see this beauty in person as it shimmers from top to bottom. The patterned papers used are from the new Melissa Frances Line “Home for The Holidays”, you will adorn three sisal trees with Mica and the roof of the house with Diamond Stickles and Iridescent Glitter. You will outline the house with Platinum Stickles...

Super fun gift for both Dads and sons

Nov 26, 2010

I have got to tell you about this neat toy my brother-in-law Douglas has that I think will be a great surprise gift for all the men in your family. Last year he thought these remote controlled helicopters or the Phantom 6010 as he calls it were so cool he bought one for Alan. Let me tell you Alan was entertained for hours which I deeply appreciated and I am sure you would too. Although, Buster our schnauzer thought it was an alien coming down from outer space trying to invade his territory, so he was set on seeing it destroyed. I suggest if you have dogs in your house you might be a tad bit careful flying this thing around them. If it ends up in their reach it will experience instant death....

What a busy week…

Nov 24, 2010

I hope you all are getting ready to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. We will be having a very slow paced day tomorrow. This year we are staying put as we decided to do our traveling to see family for Christmas. I must admit it will be nice to just relax and not worry about entertaining or traveling. This Thanksgiving I am getting off so easy… all Ansley requested is “Stove Top” stuffing and a pumpkin pie!!! Can you believe that… Ansley is not a big turkey eater and Alan doesn’t want me to go to all the trouble of cooking for just us three. So they got major brownie points with me this Thanksgiving. I’m thinking a big pot of stew or chili will be great to eat while...

Online Workshop Sale…

Oct 29, 2010

It is that time of year again, getting ready to start creating for the holidays. I love, love, love creating projects for Christmas and my two online workshops “12 Days of Christmas” and “A Very Vintage Christmas” are workshops that will never go out of style. You can change the patterned papers or embellishments I used to create the projects featured in my workshops to fit your style or holiday theme if you wish to do so. So if you are new to my blog you might want to check out these workshops and if you have been around for a while and just never had the time well you are in luck because I have coupons for you and you will have unlimited access. Alan is working hard on changing all the info...

Live life with Joy…

Oct 18, 2010

My newest online workshop “Live life with Joy” is a mixed media online workshop using Claudine Hellmuth’s Studio Paints. If you have not tried her paints I highly suggest you do so as they are incredible. I really like them as they are not chalky as some acrylic paints can be and their colors are wonderful. You can use them as they are or mix them to make awesome colors. In this online workshop you’re going to need to get your apron, wipes and paper towels handy because this one is all about Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints and Maya Road Maya Mist so it is going to get messy! You will alter the canvas cover and two canvas pages of your album using Claudine’s paints; create colorful glazes to use with stencils. Accent areas...

And finally we are done…

Aug 18, 2010

Oh I do not miss those stripes and stars for one second… not a tear was shed when they got covered by this gorgeous color by Valspar. It is called Prairie Brush and I love it. Now I walk into a room that looks like this… Every single product is in its place and every single drawer, box and nook and cranny has been cleaned out. It feels so good. I love that I finally have a spot for my Underwood typewriter… this poor thing has been all over the house.  I still need to hang a shelf over the one you see for items that I need but do not use all that often. And I want to dig around some thrift stores to find some vintage prints to hang on the wall....

Just have to show you…

Apr 2, 2010

So this evening Alan and I found out my book “Delight In The Details” was in stock at Barnes & Noble at Stonebriar Mall here in Frisco. Yes we raced over to see it and noticed they only had one left on the shelf. So far the only other place I have been able to see my book in person is The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, Texas. I must say it does feel strange walking in and seeing it sitting on a shelf. Although it is a good strange and certainly makes me smile. Remember, I have this RAK giveaway going on. If you want to participate send me a photo of my book in a store near you… you do not have to be in the photo if you don’t want to. Just...

What was I thinking?

Feb 11, 2010

Seriously, I had no idea I would have such a wonderful response over my book. I honestly put my heart and soul into each project and wrote in the hopes that you would feel like we were sitting at the kitchen table chatting. You all have been so incredibly wonderful and I thank you so much. This being said I had NO idea I would be so busy after I came home from CHA. My feet hit the floor running. Everyone that purchased a book from me… it is on the way so start stalking the mailman now. I have been answering email like crazy so if you sent me one and I have not responded as of yet please know I am answering them as quickly as I can. I am also designing...

Chili anyone?

Jan 3, 2010

A few weeks ago my friend Rachael shared a Weight Watchers chili recipe that was so yummy. We have already had it twice. Well I was going to make some last night and totally messed up the grocery list. When Alan got back with what I sent him for I quickly realized I sent him on a wild goose hunt so I decided to just add what he bought and see what happened. Oh and I should tell you he had to go back to get 2 cans of diced tomatoes because I forgot to put them on the list… mind you I was reading the darn recipe as I was making the list. Not sure where my head was with this task but it clearly was not with making a list this is...

I have wonderful blog readers…

Dec 23, 2009

First I must say WOW… thank you all so much for all the wonderful comments and emails you have sent me regarding this post. I have decided to keep it real on my blog this year. I certainly do not want to give the false impression that everyday is a holiday for me. Most days are really great don’t get me wrong. But I think we woman sometimes get caught in a trap and feel it sets us up for unrealistic expectations on ourselves when we read that everything is always peachy or things always seem so perfect at all times on other blogs. Really life is not that way and I certainly do not want to portray that mine is. Yes I do have so many things to be thankful for and I...

What a wonderful way to wake up…

Dec 2, 2009

This morning we got snow… not a lot, maybe an inch which was just enough to make the neighborhood look so pretty. By the time I got home from taking Ansley to school the snow was turning into rain and it was starting to melt quickly. We are expected to get more Friday. We will see. Since this is Texas you never know what the weather will bring each minute. And looking at our house it reminds me I have got to wrap some wreaths around the outside lights… they look so bare. I am working on the next Advent style pocket and will post it hopefully tomorrow. I have not been feeling too good lately which explains my lack of blog posting. Should be back on track in a few days. Alan has...

Want to see some pages inside my book…

Nov 28, 2009

Oh I love having a techy DH. Alan added photos of the inside of my book to this post. If you want to see them check it out. I love seeing the pages in color as pretty much all I have seen is black and white. I can hardly wait to get my two advanced copies… I am counting down the days as it should be sometime in December. You will all here a huge scream when they arrive. I tell ya my Editor Kristin Boys (love, love, love her so much… seriously she is the sweetest person and such a pleasure to work with… I’m so glad my book landed on her desk) Designer Corrie Schaffeld, Production Coordinator Greg Nock, Photographers Christine Polomsky (it was a BLAST getting to work with Christine in...

19 years and counting…

Nov 10, 2009

Today, Alan and I celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. 19 years… how can this be? Time really does fly right on by. Happy Anniversary, Alan. Love is one long sweet dream, and marriage is the alarm clock. ~Author Unknown That quote cracks me up! And this is my favorite photo of the entire night… me at the time with my two favorite people (pre Ansley, now I have three just want to make that clear). The photo was taken right after the I do’s. The sweet adorable 2 year old is my now sweet adorable 21 year old Terri. I asked her why she wasn’t looking at Uncle Don when he took the photo and she replied in the cutest little “Roo” voice ever… ” I didn’t want to step on my dress, Momma.”...

What a great day…

Jul 3, 2009

Yesterday my niece Amanda arrived. I picked her up from the airport at 10 a.m and we did not stop until 10 p.m. She will be going to college in the fall so the  first stop was IKEA… lots of great fun there. Then she wanted to hit Marshalls as this girl can never have too many shoes. Then we ate lunch and headed over to Target. Once we finished there we came home and made this.… well it was more like Amanda not me… I just grabbed stuff for her to use. I think she created the cutest doll. Now to find a little glass plate for her to sit on. I have been wanting to make one of these dolls since I saw them online here… actually, I still want to make...

Weekend Run Down…

Apr 26, 2009

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I had lots of fun yesterday chatting with everyone during Cocoa Daisy’s Spring Crop. That message board was hopping. I also started getting the projects ready for my summer workshop. Lots of red, white and blue happening in my scraproom right now. Today Alan and I worked really hard getting my “Vintage Sampler” workshop ready to debut for National Scrapbook Day on Saturday, May 2nd. This is a free workshop. If you are interested you can sign up for it here. I have the supply list posted so you can have everything ready to create Saturday. As always all my workshop and blog projects are for personal use only. Please do not teach these in your store, as classes or recreate them to sell in your...

A little bit of this and a little bit of that…

Jan 5, 2009

First, thank you for all the sweet email of well wishes for Ansley and Alan. They are feeling better. Ansley did not go to school today as she is still pretty zapped but she is better and should be able to go back tomorrow.  I think I can now take off my nurse cap. To all you nurses out there… Big huge cheers to you… you all earn every cent you make and I’m certain you should be paid more… what a job. I am so glad it warmed up here a bit over the last few days or we would be having a nasty icy mess right now on the roads. Icicles are not a common site on my birdhouse. We are having lots of drizzly rain that is now starting to freeze...
