Christmas Tree 2014

The Christmas tree is the first item to go up in our house during the holiday season. Ansley designed this “Peppermint” tree a few years ago and we’ve kept it since. It’s a fun tree that is easy to put up and take down and lets face it during the holidays easy is the key word. Once the tree is all set Ansley and I start to plan how we want to decorate the house. This year it is all about lights.

Christmas 2014

In the den, we decided to hang three wreaths with white lights and some garland with red and white lights in the bay window.

Mantel 2014

We added white lights on the fireplace mantel and I accented it with some of my favorite vintage mercury glass ornaments, garland and green depression glass. I say “I” accented because Ansley draws the line with vintage… she is not a vintage fan at all and is like a bull in a china shop so these delicate ornaments stress her out.

Christmas 2014

In the kitchen, I put a 3′ fir tree on our bar that is decorated with vintage mercury glass ornaments. Ansley and I then added garland wrapped with red and white lights and hung a wreath accented with white lights.

Christmas 2014

And Christmas is not Christmas in our house unless there are Candy Canes and everyone’s favorite holiday chocolates. I found this awesome table runner at Target that I could not pass up because it went so perfectly with our red and white theme. I placed it on our table and used vintage milk glasses and my grandmother’s green depression sherbet bowls to hold the candy.

Christmas 2014

While Ansley and I zip around the house my Santa Paws, Sonny just watches in between a nap or two. He is the absolute best dog I will ever have and has brought so much joy these past 12 years.
