3rd Annual Creative Retreat ~ Bellagio

Nov 20, 2013

In six months I will once again get to enjoy the beauty of Bellagio, Italy. This place is so magical and if you want to see how amazing a trip Caroline and I had all the while teaching, creating and making new friends just check out these past blog posts. It was an amazing adventure. Laura really knows how to put together an amazing event. Every last detail is thought out and filled.

AND are you ready for this… she just had TWO SPOTS OPEN for her 3rd Annual Creative Retreat May 17th — 24th. It was sold out but sadly two ladies had to back out so if you want to experience a fantastic creative retreat AND make some amazing new friends you need to jump on this opportunity NOW as they will FILL fast. And I can promise you Caroline and I will be eating this same meal once again. Baba Yaga has the BEST Caprese Salad and Pizza and it’s just a short walk from where you’ll be staying.

Here is a little sneak peek of one class project I’ll be teaching at the event. You will create a beautiful textile collage sampler using new and vintage items collected during my travels. The base of the sampler is a piece cut from a vintage quilt which is then accented with a vintage doily, rosary style beads from a long forgotten necklace, a handmade yarn flower and perfectly aged shell buttons. Along with the vintage items you’ll adorn your sampler with rhinestone trim, a hand cut linen burlap heart, velvet scallop trim, daisy lace, coordinating seam binding, rhinestone button and crystal trinket pins. There’s even a little something handmade by me and my mom in each kit. Mom crocheted a little doily to coordinate perfectly with your sampler. And since I have a huge love for Frozen Charlotte dolls I created a mold from one I have in my collection and hand poured a doll for each student’s sampler.

I think of this class as the modern day version of a quilting bee as we all come together to assemble, embroider (no worries, it’s all simple stitching and I’ll share my pattern secret) and share in an amazing adventure together. Once completed your textile collage sampler will hang beautifully from a miniature hanger for all to enjoy.

I’m looking forward to seeing and creating with everyone during this awesome event. See ya there!
