Quilted Memories

I’ll be teaching three classes at Creative Cards and Crafts in Villa Park, IL ~ Oct. 18th & 19th. This project is just one of the three classes I’ll be teaching. In my “Quilted Memories” class you will paint and alter a 5” x 5” wooden shadow box using a beautiful butter cream colored acrylic paint and vintage sheet music. You will accent the back of the shadow box using stamps from my Antiquated Collection Line which I’ll be sharing so you can personalize the back as you wish. Inside each 1.5” square you will attach fabric pieces from a tattered and torn quilt lovingly sewn by my great great aunts. You will accent each fabric piece with items like vintage shell buttons, crocheted doilies handmade by my mom, a vintage glass vial filled with silver German glass glitter, an adorable plaster bust I created from a mold of a vintage bisque doll, beautifully dried tea roses and lots of other bits and baubles. Once completed, your shadow box will rest on an easel created from a vintage fork that’s accented with vintage lace and trims.

Please Note: If you wish to personalize your shadow box feel free to bring personal items you would like to incorporate into your project. After all, this is your project, I’m just here to inspire.

Supplies Needed: Glue Stick, Liquid Adhesive, Fabric Adhesive, Jet Black Archival Ink, and Acrylic Blocks (I will have some to share but you might want to bring your own), Baby Wipes

Tools Needed: Paint Brush, Sewing Needle, Scissors, Sanding Block or Sand Paper

Optional Items: Vintage Photo Distress Ink (If you wish to distress the vintage sheet music a bit more this shade works great)

I’m looking forward to seeing you there.
