Glittering Thrift Store Vases and Bottles

Jan 28, 2013

This was a fun late night, last minute project I decided to do since I’ve seen this technique many times pinned on Pinterest. Some things on Pinterest look super easy and amazing but in the end, end up being epic failures. I have heard several stories. But I am happy to say this technique works like a charm and makes this glitter girl super happy. Supplies Used: Collage Pauge Instant Decoupage ~ Glossy, Recollections Extra Fine Glitter ~ Champagne, Thrift Store Vases or Bottles, Non-Stick Craft Mat, Aluminum Foil, Popsicle Stick Instructions: Squirt some Glossy Collage Pauge Instant Decoupage into the bottom of your vase or bottle. I just counted one, two, three while squirting the Collage Pauge Instant Decoupage into the vase and stopped. No rocket science here.  Next I placed about 2...

Today She Is One

Jan 25, 2013

It’s hard to believe my sweet little niece Olivia is a year old, today. As you can see she is a super happy baby. Olivia has brought loads of joy to our family and I am so happy for facetime. It’s so exciting to see her look closer into the phone and smile at me as well as clap her hands and play peek-a-boo. Although our first game of peek-a-boo was totally an accident on my part but she knew exactly what she was doing. I talk with my hands and when I put my hand on my head she thought I was wanting to play peek-a-boo and started playing and of course I instantly played until she lost interest. Olivia’s first year has had many memorable moments of wondering why her parents sat...

Watching a Dream Come True

Jan 24, 2013

It was so awesome to walk into The Crafter’s Workshop booth at CHA and see the new stencil line designed by my friend Ronda Palazzari. After CHA summer Ronda spoke about ideas she had for her own stencil line and by golly, I’m thrilled to see her Dream Came True. What Ronda creates with her stencils is beyond amazing. Below are links to all the stencil projects she created and blogged about as each stencil made it’s public debut. You have to look at every single one. I tell ya, it’s pure eye candy. Kaleidoscope Urban Landscape Subway Honeycomb Picture Perfect Pie Chart Confetti Quatrefoil This layout is just one of the many favorite projects I love that Ronda created. This layout features her new Kaleidoscope stencil. No one does color like Ronda....

CHA‑W 2013 ~ W should stand for Whirlwind

Jan 21, 2013

CHA~W was a whirlwind for sure. There were so many exciting things to see and do I have no idea where to start. To me CHA is like a mini reunion, it’s always wonderful seeing old friends and making new ones.  Below are the adorable make n takes Caroline designed for me to teach each day of the show. I love that she always has a different one each day. And can you believe some attendees have created every make n take I’ve done with Maya Road since my first show with them in 2007. The Maya Road make n takes were so popular that each day by 1:00 we finished all we had prepared and had to scramble to come up with a new one. My table is always crazy with a line...

Maya Road Sneak Peek ~ Wood Bird Cages

Jan 8, 2013

In between book projects, I squeezed in a little creative time to make some small CHA projects for Maya Road. I must say, I’m LOVING the new Wood Bird Cages (page 1 in the catalog) and 4″ x 6″ Card Sentiment Words Stamp Set (page 4 in the catalog). This tag was fun and pretty quick to create. I started with an Inkssentials #8 Manila Tag and covered it with Pink Paislee patterned paper. I then used the Maya Road Ornate Feathered Friends 4″ x 6″ stamp set as a background stamp (page 15 in the catalog). I then machine stitched a straight stitch all around the inside edge of the tag and distressed and inked the edges. Tip: I leave the stamps on the clear sheet as the come when purchased then ink the stamps with...

Queen Bee EnviroTex Resin Charms

Jan 7, 2013

This year, Aunt Brenda spent Christmas with our family. This is the first Christmas I can remember having her with us at Christmas since I was a very little girl, somewhere around the age of 3 or 4 years old. It was fun and she made my mom and dad the best heirloom ever, which I will share on another blog post. It’s amazing! I decided to create two different styled charms for her this Christmas. Aunt Brenda sews a lot and has created some beautiful quilts and remember, she is the one who made my “Traveling Apron”. You can read about it in my “Everything Has A Story” blog post. So I thought I would create her a textile style charm using a Maya Road mini canvas tag for the base and hand...

EnviroTex Memento Key Chain

Jan 4, 2013

Here is another keychain I created as a gift for Christmas. This one was for my mom. I started by cutting a piece of wallpaper from the old homestead that mom and I peeled off the wall one summer. I then placed the wallpaper piece inside the heart bezel. Using a paintbrush I covered the wallpaper with three coats of Nunn Designs Glue allowing the glue to dry thoroughly between coats. I then mixed a small batch of EnviroTex Resin and filled the bezel halfway. I set this aside and let it cure for 12 hours. Remember there is no need to waste any of your resin. If you don’t have another charm you want to create, create resin paper by placing the paper onto wax paper or foil and brush the leftover resin onto the papers...

Funky Little Canvas

Jan 3, 2013

This is the funky little canvas I made for my niece Amanda, for Christmas. It is of her and her boyfriend Steve after a TCU game. They are the most adorable couple and I really do hope he ends up being my nephew. Steve is sweet, smart and cute! Ok enough of that because I can hear Amanda saying, “BEASIE” all the way from Houston. Not sure why she named me Beasie when she was a baby but she did and it stuck, so I’m Beasie. Anyway, enough of all that and on to the canvas. I did a photo transfer of their photo onto a 4 x 4 canvas, then using Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints and stamps I accented the sides of the canvas. I protected the image transfer with a coating of...

EnviroTex Resin Key Chain

Jan 2, 2013

I created this key chain for my sister, Belinda. It was created in memory of my brother, Richard who passed away from alcoholism, March 28, 2004. He loved the water and worked on a boat off the Gulf of Mexico. I found this image of the anchor by doing a google search and the quote from Quote Garden. I had Alan resize the image for me to fit inside the bezel then printed it out on my laser printer. Next, I applied Nunn Design Glue on the bezel and placed the image on top, pressing the bubbles out from underneath the image as best I could using my finger and paint brush for the corners. Once I felt I got all the bubbles out, using a paint brush I applied a layer of Nunn...

Happy New Year ~ 2013

Jan 1, 2013

Thank you all for such an awesome year. Throughout the year, I’ve celebrated with you the birth of our niece Olivia and Ansley turning 18. I introduced you to my love of needle felting, shared in my excitement of attending Ranger University and announced my Antiquated Collection Spring Release. I got to do a super fun Free Webinar with my friend Ronda Palazzari, had a blast at CHA‑S and touring downtown. I was asked to do a demo & book signing for the Grand Opening of Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts in Sherman, Texas and got to teach classes at ScrapFest in MN. Caroline and I traveled to Bellagio, Italy where I taught at A Kiss on the Chic’s Creative Retreat. I discovered the art of resin and filled my online store and Etsy store with lots of fun stuff. I loved watching my nieces with the 25...
