Inspiration for a Crafty Weekend

Nov 30, 2012

Since I am cleaning out and reorganizing my craft room, this week, which is total torture but thankfully I have an awesome neighbor, Jennifer who is helping me and keeping me on task. I just keep telling myself once I’m finished it’s going to be so awesome working in it once again. These are just a portion of the empty boxes I had to go through, empty out and put stuff away. Caroline Lau is to blame for LOTS of these boxes. Anyway, I thought I would take a break and go through my blog post Archives and find some weekend inspiration for you. I plan on making all my Christmas gifts this year and if you are as well, well there might be a few things to inspire you. Sometimes it good to...

25 Day Countdown to Christmas ~ Recap

Nov 27, 2012

I had so much fun helping my nieces Madelyn and Bellie create their 25 Day Countdown to Christmas project over the Thanksgiving weekend. They were so excited and worked so hard on each and every envelope. We had a flurry of creativity going on as you can see by all the blurry photos. They were peeling, sticking, punching, stamping and Stickling like crazy. It was really cute to watch their creative minds at work. Madelyn loved accenting each of her envelopes with the rhinestone gems and snowflakes. She is all about sparkle and bling. But what little girl isn’t? And GASP, a niece of mine that does NOT like sparkle and bling… well that would be so wrong. Bellie LOVED these 3D stickers I found at the last minute in the $1 section at...

My Bucket List ~ Crop & Create

Nov 26, 2012

I have two bucket lists going… one lists things I want to do personally and one lists things I want to do professionally… well visiting Canada is on my personal bucket list and teaching at a Crop & Create event is on my professional bucket list so I’m thrilled to tell you I will get to cross two items off my lists in April. YES… I will be teaching two classes at the Crop & Create event in Winnipeg, April 5th & 6th. Class 1 She is… Altered House Shadow Box We will be using the beautiful bright and cheery “She Art” patterned paper line by Pink Paislee to alter a Maya Road House Shadow Box. 25 Day Countdown to Christmas

Nov 23, 2012

Today, I’m making a 25 day Countdown to Christmas project with my nieces Madelyn and Bellie. As you can see from the photo they are loving their new matching jammies. New flannel jammies are the best especially when you find matching ones like my mom did with a monkey print design. Ok sorry, back to the project. Both little sweet peas will decorate 12 standard sized card envelopes using stickers, self adhesive gems, then stamp the numbers needed on each of their bags. Madelyn will stamp the odd numbers and Bellie the even numbers. I will decorate envelope 25 for them to either use as a sample or for inspiration. Once all the envelopes are decorated I’ll fill each one with 2 pieces of candy and a printed strip of paper that has one...

Give Thanks…

Nov 20, 2012

If you have my book “Delight In The Seasons” you just might recognize this project as it’s featured in the Autumn Chapter on pages 104 & 105. It showcases one of my favorite techniques using Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel also known as UTEE. It’s no secret how much I love UTEE and just the other day Suze Weinberg dubbed me the new “Queen of UTEE.” THE Queen, dubbing ME the new Queen, I will certainly wear this crown proudly. If you don’t have my book… GASP, well it’s your lucky day because “Create Mixed Media” is featuring my “Give Thanks” project/technique on their website just in time for Thanksgiving. Click HERE to view the complete project and step by step tutorial. And it’s double your lucky day because I’m offering FREE SHIPPING to anyone...

Three Simple Words ~ Charm Tutorial

Nov 19, 2012

This charm requires several steps with a 12 hour waiting time in between the two resin pours and 48 hours before it achieves a hard cure. Once the hard cure has been achieved it’s ready to wear. Below is a little info on this resin that I copied from the EnviroTex webiste. Professional results are easy to achieve with EnviroTex® Jewelry Resin!  This product adds depth and crystal clear clarity like no other.  It visually enhances the surface on which it is applied, resulting in brighter, deeper and more intense colors.  EnviroTex® Jewelry Resin has amazing bubble release.  It is easy and fun to use and has a pleasing citrus scent!  Formulated for high resistance to light exposure and UV rays from the sun.  When cured, the resin coating is extremely durable, waterproof, heat...

Three Simple Words

Nov 17, 2012

It’s amazing the amount of power words have when you really think about it. I’m sure we can all remember a moment when an unkind word was said to us on the playground, or whispers in the hall in school. I know I can. Sadly, it’s during those years that we really don’t know the power those words spoken have on a person. It’s so easy to remember the negative as I guess those are the ones that impact us and hurt us the most. The negative words are the first ones which creep up on us instead of the kind, they are the ones that I and I’m sure you, always have to push back down. So today, my wish is that we all give hope, courage and love to a stranger, a...

Handmade Embellishments

Nov 13, 2012

I’m having so much fun playing and creating. This week, I finished up a cute mini monogram charm and when I say mini I mean mini, it is only .5′ x .75″ and four mini embellishments. I’m thinking about putting some of these in my online store but wanted to get a little bit of feedback to see if these are something you all would like to use in your creations. They are perfect to accent cards, tags, layouts and other projects. So let me know what you think, if you don’t mind. This set of embellishments range in size from .5″ — .75″. and can be almost any color combination, which is the real fun part. I enjoy adding the color and glitter and watching each one transform into tiny unique pieces of...

Each night, I’ve been making embellishments to use in projects and jewelry. I’ve loved experimenting with several different mediums, EnviroTex Resin being one and wanted to show you the three embellishments I finished, last night. I’m not sure what I’m going to use these pieces on but right now I just like looking at them. They are sparkly & shiny and will look awesome accenting a vintage project. Mini EnviroTex Resin Charms

Nov 8, 2012

If you need to make some holiday gifts I really think you should make charms using EnviroTex Resin. It’s so simple and the outcome is beautiful. I created these using vintage book pages, ledger paper and sheet music as well as Sculpey Clay & my Antiquated Collection ~ Mini Silhouettes & Monograms Stamp Set. The vintage papers are accented using Nunn Design Transfer and Collage Sheets. I love how the collage sheet images are somewhat transparent so the images look as though they’ve been printed onto the vintage papers. I tell ya these charms are so much prettier in person. The upper right charm is topped of with a bauble I’ve been saving for quite sometime. I even accented the center of the flower with some Diamond Stickles for some sparkle. So are you...
