All Occasion Card

Jun 30, 2011

Here is a quick card to create and give for any occasion. I used products from the Cocoa Daisy July Main Kit “Urban Loft” and the “Telegraph Hill” Add On Kit. I love the lace paper found in the “Telegraph Hill” Add On Kit. It’s gorgeous and was so hard to make the first cut. I added the vintage milk bottle cap (from my stash) because the cork buttons fit inside so perfectly. Then Jenni Bowlins yellow rhinestone bow topped it off and complimented the Maya Road trim at the same time. I’m in major book editing mode right now so please excuse the shortness of the blog post. But since going outside does not appeal to me one bit since the temps will be 100 degrees all week. Editing is the perfect thing...

Gift Box

Jun 29, 2011

I altered this box using the Main Kit “Urban Loft” by Cocoa Daisy. I plan on placing a gift card inside for a special someone on their birthday. Afterwards they can use the box to store small items inside. Altering items is one of my favorite things to do… I love turning something that was discarded and no longer wanted into a new treasured item. That is one reason my closet looks like a hoarder lives in my studio. I cannot pass up small boxes and paper mache items. I always think, “Oh this would be awesome to alter.” I really like the flowers that come in the “South Loop” Add On Kit. They are prefect to create a little floral grouping. And you know I love the Maya Road Crystal Trinket Pins. There...

Creating A Silhouette

Jun 27, 2011

I had no idea how many people would be asking me how I made this silhouette that I decided today was the perfect day to show you. This technique is really easy to do and doesn’t take too much time. First you want to print a photo to the desired size you need. For the project above (part of my Cocoa Daisy Sneak Peek) I printed my photo to a 5″ x 7″. This left me with a silhouette the size of approximately 5″ x 5.25″. Note: I printed the photo in black and white so not to waste my color ink. Once you have the photo printed, using scissors and a craft knife cut and remove the photos background. All you want are the images of the people. Next, using a pencil trace...

Cocoa Daisy ~ Urban Loft Sneak Peeks

Jun 24, 2011

Since reveal day is only four days away I thought I would share a few sneak peeks of some projects I completed using the July Kit “Urban Loft” by Cocoa Daisy. I also had to have two Add On Kits “Telegraph Hill” and “South Loop”. Christine certainly has a gift in putting kits together as they’re awesome. This is a sneak peek of a project I created using the Main Kit “Urban Loft” and the Add On “South Loop”. This project uses the Main Kit “Urban Loft” and the Add On “Telegraph Hill.” I added the vintage milk bottle cap… the cork buttons and JBS bow fit so perfectly in the center I could not pass it up. For this project I used the Main Kit “Urban Loft” and both Add On Kits “South...

Charm Inspiration…

Jun 23, 2011

I’ve really had fun making charms for Terri and Ansley as well as friends and family. I like to collect little things here and there to create something meaningful from a special moment or event. Then I’ll think and think on it until I come up with a unique way to incorporate the item or items into a small token to give as a remembrance of that day. Last year, while I was in Greece for Cocoa Daisy Destination ~ Mykonos I brought back a little bit of sand, some coins and evil eye charms. I had no idea what I was going to do with them at the time but figured something would come to mind. Well, I will be rooming with Christine and Ronda at CHA‑S next month and decided this would be...

The Big Book of Scrapbook Pages

Jun 22, 2011

Have you all seen this book in your local scrapbook or craft stores? If not, you need to look for it as it’s filled with LOADS of inspiration for every scrapbooking topic you can imagine. I was thrilled to be asked to create a few projects for the book. F+W Media included a spotlight on my book “Delight In The Details” along with my two projects. As you can see Jenni Bowlin sponsored products for these two projects. Oh how I love Jenni’s products. I certainly do have a hoarding issue with her items. If you love Jenni Bowlin products as much as I do make sure you check out her Inspiration Blog.… it’s filled with LOTS of incredible projects. Thanks for the sponsorship, Jenni. Here is a closer look at the two projects...

Artistic Journey 2011

Jun 21, 2011

Here is a little sneak peek of the project I’ll be teaching at Artistic Journey in October. I’m so looking forward to this event as last year was a blast. This year, I’ll be teaching along with Dina Wakley and Shelley Haganman. I’ve been on the Maya Road Design Team with Shelley for years and we’ve never met in person so it’s going to be awesome to finally meet. Dina and I usually see each other for a bit at CHA which is always nice. During Artistic Journey each teacher will teach a class that represents our style so you’ll get to create three super cool and very different projects over the weekend. Also, you’ll make an awesome project during the meet and greet the first night of the event. And I must give a...

New things in the works…

Jun 20, 2011

This weekend, Alan and I worked on creating a new business card, logo and website. I’m loving my business card! It really does represent my style and love of all things vintage. What do you think? My logo will look similar to the business card and are you ready for this… my new website is going to be black and white… I’m going with a crisp, simple, elegant look. It’s almost ready so don’t be surprised when you come visit me one day soon and it looks totally different. It’s going to be easy to navigate and you’re going to love it. I’ll certainly have a “debut” giveaway ready for some lucky winner when it launches. Alan is even including a forum. So PLEASE, please, please participate with me. I plan on posting lots...

Just a little something…

Jun 17, 2011

I’m so proud of my oldest daughter, Terri. She is a super hard worker and doing so well in her career. I really do miss the days when she was younger with her sweet little “Roo” voice, oh how I loved it when she would say “Momma.” But I must admit, seeing her grow and achieve her goals as an adult is equally rewarding. So yesterday, I decided to play in my studio and create a little something for her to put in her cubical. As you can see it’s filled with lots of Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 and Tim Holtz Ranger goodness. Supplies Used: Art Parts Square and Rectangle Frames, Art Parts Scallop Trim, Studio 490 Botanical Art, Studio 490 Live And Make Art, Distress Crackle Paint Rock Candy, Distress Crackle Paint Tattered...

Wall Art

Jun 16, 2011

This is a great way to use your scraps. I created this piece years ago but love how it’s still something I can displayed to this day. I used Maya Road Chipboard Blossoms for the flowers covered with patterned paper scraps, then I attached a button to the center of each one. The leaves and stems were hand cut and randomly placed onto the patterned paper base to look like a wildflower arrangement. The entire piece is attached to a canvas and sits on a easel. I accented the chipboard vase with rhinestones and twill. The saying says, “I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds around my neck.” Which is very much me. So keep those scraps as they can help you create some really cute wall...

Friendship Tokens

Jun 15, 2011

During the meet and greet at Paper Cowgirl we had a super fun friendship token exchange. The tokens can be anything you wish to create and give away. This exchange would be something fun to do at crops or any scrapping event. I just have to show you how creative everyone was at Paper Cowgirl. I did my best to get a good close up of each one I received. My name badge was full. One of the participants crocheted all her flower tokens. Some altered game pieces. As you can see my name tag was full… colored keys tied on with yarn, stickers, millinery flowers a metal dress form was created and watch faces were used. I’m not kidding when I said people made them from all sorts of items. Kraft tags were...

So proud of my friend…

Jun 14, 2011

One of the neatest raffles at Paper Cowgirl was the “Altered Velveeta Box” raffle. All the money raised for this raffle goes towards the Tina Wright Scholarship Fund. Tina was a friend of Cindy’s (Head Cowgirl) and sadly passed away from cancer. Nearly $300.00 dollars was raised for this fund and it is awesome that it helps keep Tina’s memory alive. Tina loved art and being creative so this scholarship helps keep her passion going through young people in her home town. A trophy was given for the most money raised and ribbons were given out for the most votes. I am so proud of my friend Trisha. She won the trophy for most money raised AND got 4th place in most votes. Trisha teaches really unique soldering classes at The Crafty Scrapper. Her...

Paper Cowgirl Weekend…

Jun 13, 2011

Oh my goodness I don’t even know where to start but I think the beginning is best. Warning, this is a novel of a blog post. I had an incredible weekend with lots of super fun ladies. I tell ya all were happy, super inspiring and all extremely nice. Now we all know getting a group of 100 women together with that kind of result is something… just keeping it honest and real. Thursday evening started off with a meet and greet, friendship token swap and then all the other incredible swaps. It was a blast and my name badge is filled with lots of super fun friendship tokens. After the meet and greet Cindy Mayfield our host introduced all the teachers. There were some incredible teachers at this event and all kinds of...

Simple Summer Bracelet…

I think wearing several coordinating ones would look awesome… the tutorial on how I made this bracelet can be found on the Cocoa Daisy Blog. Products used to create this project are from the Cocoa Daisy “Fruit Smoothie” and “Chocolate Malt” Add On Kits. Today, I’m teaching my “Pieces Of Time” project at Paper Cowgirl from 1:00 — 4:00. If you’re in Waxahachie come by and say hi! I would love to see you. Have a great...

Hi

Jun 9, 2011

Honestly, this has to be the fastest card I’ve ever created. All I did was machine stitch around the inside edge of the patterned paper, distressed and inked the edges with creamy brown ink, attached the fabric flowers using Fabri-Tac, accented the patterns with Diamond Stickles, added a 2mm self adhesive pearl to each flower center, put on my sentiment and BAM… done! That is FAST for me! Products used to create this card are from the Cocoa Daisy June “Cherry Soda” Main Kit and “Fruit Smoothie” Add On Kit. Just wait until you see tomorrow’s project… you’ll never look at brads the same and will be looking for more brads to make several more of tomorrow’s featured project. I cannot wait to show you. I want to make LOTS more of these as...

A Moment In Time…

Jun 8, 2011

To create this tag I used the super cute Ampersand stamp in this months Cocoa Daisy “Cherry Soda” kit along with the “Coordinating Paint and Ink” and Word Stamp Set Add On Kits. I think the Ampersand and Word stamps make an adorable background pattern for this tag. The butterflies are created using a Martha Stewart punch, 2mm self adhesive pearls and Diamond Stickles accents. I like the pop of yellow under each butterfly as it compliments the cardstock sticker so well. I cut the journaling tag that came in the main kit to place at the bottom of the tag then attached the red brads in each of the four holes on the tag. The trim used is from the “Chocolate Malt” Add On Kit. I then attached a strip of 5mm self adhesive...

Just 4u

Jun 7, 2011

I really like the warm color scheme of this card. The combination of the red and cream is so pretty. Of course the pops of Diamond Stickles here and there are awesome too. I covered the bottom two journaling cards with patterned paper and left the top one “Just 4u” as is, then distressed and inked the edges and attached it to the middle circle using a pop dot. I think the October Afternoon Word Sticker strips work great as the tones match the tones of the red and cream perfectly. The strips add interest and color to the card in a super simple way. Products used are from the June Cocoa Daisy “Cherry Soda” Main Kit and “Chocolate Malt” Add On Kit. I have a few kits left over from my “Quilted Memories”...

Remember Today…

Jun 6, 2011

Actually I wish the cardstock sticker said “weekend” as it was such a fun one. Friday night, I taught my “Quilted Memories” class at The Crafty Scrapper. I left a few kits with Carolyn if you would like one. Just give her a call at the store: 972–923-3151. My friend Lisa E. joined me at the store which is always fun. We’ve been friends going on 11 years. She is my scrapping buddy. I had some super fun ladies in class and hope to see them again soon because we sure did laugh a lot. After the class was finished Lisa and I stayed and laughed with Carolyn (the owner). The girl cracks me up and is always entertaining. Saturday, Lisa E. and I went to GASC in Arlington to see Carolyn’s awesome booth....

Ice Cream & Snow Cone Money Holder

Jun 3, 2011

What a fun way to save all the change us moms find in the washer and dryer when doing the family laundry. This little box can hold the discovered nickels, pennies, dimes and occasional dollar bills found for fun summer treats from the Ice Cream Man or in our town the Snow Cone Lady. The patterned paper, alphas, paint and ink used to create this project are from the Cocoa Daisy “Cherry Soda” June Main Kit, “Fruit Smoothie”, “Chocolate Malt” and “June Coordinating Paint and Ink” Add On Kits. This evening, I’ll be teaching my “Quilted Memories” class at The Crafty Scrapper. If you’re signed up for the class please check her web site for the list of supplies you need to bring.
