A Look at What’s New

Aug 1, 2014

While Bellie was busy painting or watching movies I was busy creating new one of a kind jewelry designs for my Etsy shop. As you can see, this week I was able to add several pieces. I must admit my favorite this week is the owl pendant. These new pendants will look gorgeous with any Autumn attire. Yes, I’m wishing this Texas summer away, although I must admit it has been one of the coolest in 7 years. You’ll find some new resin charms too. These charms have vintage embossed papers or tin encased in resin with wire wrapped freshwater pearls or vintage bead accents. This set reminds me of a beautiful mosaic. I love the warm tones of orange, red and yellow. All my pendants come with either an 18″ or 24″ ball chain...

Something Fun to Entertain the Kids

Dec 4, 2013

When I was a little girl around the age of 3 or 4 my mom would go to an elderly lady’s house to do her hair. This lady had an awesome album filled with greeting cards she put together for little ones to flip through. I remember sitting on the floor looking at page after page in this album. I LOVED it so I thought of a fun idea for young kids during holiday gatherings. Find some old Christmas cards and if you are like me you have lots. I found this one that works perfectly for this type of project. You will want one that you can cut the face out of (snowman, gingerbread man, Santa, Elf, Reindeer even animals will work great). Using a craft knife cut out the face on your...

Winnipeg Here I Come

Apr 3, 2013

Today is all about laundry, packing and checking my “To Do List” making sure everything I need for Crop & Create is done and packed in my super stuffed suitcase. As I’ve said before, teaching at a Crop & Create event is one of the items on my arty bucket list. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Catherine’s events and I’m super appreciative for this opportunity to teach. I have goody bags made up to hand to some lucky winners during my classes. They are filled with lots of great Maya Road products. I also have stamp sets and a mini album to give away. Below is a peek at some of the items all packed a ready to go. Each person that takes one or both of my classes gets their name...

Inspiration for a Crafty Weekend

Nov 30, 2012

Since I am cleaning out and reorganizing my craft room, this week, which is total torture but thankfully I have an awesome neighbor, Jennifer who is helping me and keeping me on task. I just keep telling myself once I’m finished it’s going to be so awesome working in it once again. These are just a portion of the empty boxes I had to go through, empty out and put stuff away. Caroline Lau is to blame for LOTS of these boxes. Anyway, I thought I would take a break and go through my blog post Archives and find some weekend inspiration for you. I plan on making all my Christmas gifts this year and if you are as well, well there might be a few things to inspire you. Sometimes it good to...

Artistic Journey 2012 ~ French Couture

Oct 4, 2012

I’m really excited for this weekend. I will be teaching at Artistic Journey in Waxahachie, Texas along side Dina Wakley and Angella Peardon. This weekends event is held at The Crafty Scrapper and is filled with loads of fun. It starts off Friday evening with three fun make & takes, a tag swap and dinner. Then Saturday morning bright and early all three of us teachers begin teaching our exclusive classes. I’ll be teaching an assemblage class that has the attendees altering a dress form. As you can see they are going to be busy, busy, busy during class. But once they finish their dress form they’ll each have a beautifully altered dress form to display in their home or give as a gift. So now I’m off to pack, check my to do...

Kitting and a Contract

Aug 8, 2012

I’m so happy to show you this photo… the official contract for book 3 arrived. I’m so super excited about the concept for this book I can hardly stand it. I’m also very fortunate to get to continue working with such loyal sponsors. I have a few new sponsors that I’m really happy to have that will be added to this LIST soon! Thank you all so much for your support and ongoing sponsorship. I really appreciate both tremendously. This week it’s been all about getting kits ready and shipped to Lake Como, Italy for “A Kiss On The Chic’s Creative Retreat in Italy” Laura’s put together a fabulous event and Sept. 15th cannot get here soon enough. I’ve never in my life wished I had a Sizzix Vagabond Machine so badly as I...

Birthday Box

Feb 18, 2011

This is a small gift box for a special birthday someone. I think my favorite part is the vial with the candle inside and the make a wish journaling strip wrapped around it. My husband Alan was looking at me a tad bit strangely as I was burning down the candle so it would fit inside. He is not a visual person so he could not figure out what in the world I was doing. But once he saw the finished project it all made sense to him and he loved it. I really like the tissue tape bow too… it is covered in crystal coarse glitter and outlined with Platinum Stickles. Anything birthday themed has to have glitter. Ha who am I kidding, it’s more like anything I create has to have glitter....

Snow day..

Feb 4, 2011

It is nice to get a snow day instead of ice days. Frisco is on day 4 of no school due to ice and snow. I do believe we got more than the 1″ they were predicting and we should get another 1″ this morning. I must admit I do love looking at it and watching the snow flakes fall but I’m sure all the people trying to arrive today for Super Bowl weekend aren’t too happy. This much snow in our area really is not good. I heard Love Field Airport is closed at the moment… yikes. Not sure about DFW. The left of our neighborhood looking out the front door. The right of our neighborhood looking out the front door. What you see when you open the back door. And our backyard....

A Christmas Mouse

Dec 22, 2010

Mom and I love all the little figurines of Christmas mice that can be seen during the holidays. My grandmother on the other hand could not STAND seeing anything which slightly resembled that of a mouse. I can remember once when I was very, very young being at my grandparent’s camp in Acton, Maine and gram running out of the camp screaming. It was years later I found out my mom had discovered a little mouse nest in one of the kitchen drawers that had a baby mouse sleeping inside. Well gram did not want anything to do with that and left in a dash. Poor gram. So in the spirit of all the adorable Christmas mice mom and I see during the holiday season I thought it would be fun to make one for her...

What a busy week…

Nov 24, 2010

I hope you all are getting ready to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. We will be having a very slow paced day tomorrow. This year we are staying put as we decided to do our traveling to see family for Christmas. I must admit it will be nice to just relax and not worry about entertaining or traveling. This Thanksgiving I am getting off so easy… all Ansley requested is “Stove Top” stuffing and a pumpkin pie!!! Can you believe that… Ansley is not a big turkey eater and Alan doesn’t want me to go to all the trouble of cooking for just us three. So they got major brownie points with me this Thanksgiving. I’m thinking a big pot of stew or chili will be great to eat while...

What a fun day…

Nov 20, 2010

Today, I taught my “Home for the Holidays” class at The Crafty Scrapper to a super sweet group of ladies. That store is my happy place without a doubt!!! I think it is the best store in the area. Carolyn has the best customers and the best product selection around not to mention the sweetest staff. If you haven’t visited her store you need to… it is worth the drive. You will love it. See the little sweetie in yellow… it was her 14th birthday. Her grandmother purchased my class as a gift for her. Happy Birthday, Gracie! I hope it was a wonderful day. Wishing you all the best and hope to see you again soon. Each kit included three different house templates and lots of fun little goodies to use to decorate....

I have a paper secret…

Sep 29, 2010

But I have to share. I just cannot keep this one a secret. While participating at the Cocoa Daisy Destination ~ Mykonos event I stumbled upon this gorgeous vintage paper line. And since I LOVE Christmas and anything with old Santa images well… you can only imagine my excitement. The designer is Gudrun Loennecken. She lives in Norway and is super talented. Gudrun did an adorable make n take with her papers one evening in Mykonos. Everyone loved her designs. The one shown below is Gudrun’s Christmas 2010 line and I cannot wait to start my Christmas album. Front view… love that little girl and the Santa images. Back view… the paper with the postcard images is incredible. Isn’t this little girl so cute among all the hearts and holly. Then you can only...

May 22, 2010

my shoulder which I must admit is making me crazier than ever… I thought I would share with you some of my favorite layouts featured in my book “Delight In The Details”. These three are all so different from each other yet super detailed and as you know I can get lost in the details. The photo of the little girl is me. It is one of my favorite baby photos.  I thought this photo was a perfect match with this paper line by Jenni Bowlin. In this layout I used my craft knife a lot. Which is most likely one of the reasons my shoulder is killing me… I love to use my craft knife and grip it so tightly. I think the light chalking on the bird and flowers makes for a...

Happy Easter from my family to yours…

Apr 4, 2010

I thought I would share with you on this special day some family photos from Easters past. Oh how I love old family photos. Here are my mom and cousins Larry and Jimmie Easter Sunday. They are standing in front of my Aunt and Uncle’s house on Dog Run in Salem, WV, in 1954 or 55. Love that the girls as well as the ladies wore gloves with their new Easter attire. I’m not sure where Mom is standing for this photo but I am assuming it is either in the yard at her home or my aunt’s. They were only 2 houses away from each other. Which was so fun when the family would go visit in the summers. I’m sure my brother and I created a path between their houses… we went...

I found something fun…

If you like vintage looking Easter cards here is a tutorial I found at a site call Vintage Image Craft. I kinda stumbled on them via Facebook and oh am I so happy I did. Vintage Image Crafts has some adorable projects I thought you my super sweet blogger readers might want to try. This morning created their adorable Victorian styled Easter Egg card. I love interactive cards especially when it involves an adorable vintage image of an Easter chick like this one. I hope you give this card a try… it is pretty simple and oh so cute. Wishing you all a wonderfully creative weekend. Oh and don’t forget about this.. or this. Those that participate have a chance to win a wonderful RAK.Hugs!...

What was I thinking?

Feb 11, 2010

Seriously, I had no idea I would have such a wonderful response over my book. I honestly put my heart and soul into each project and wrote in the hopes that you would feel like we were sitting at the kitchen table chatting. You all have been so incredibly wonderful and I thank you so much. This being said I had NO idea I would be so busy after I came home from CHA. My feet hit the floor running. Everyone that purchased a book from me… it is on the way so start stalking the mailman now. I have been answering email like crazy so if you sent me one and I have not responded as of yet please know I am answering them as quickly as I can. I am also designing...

New Products I love…

Jan 16, 2010

Since Maya Road sneak peeks will continue Monday I thought I would show you a few products already revealed that I really love. I love how gorgeous this Red Medallion Flower accented with a Crystal and Vintage Black Pearl Pin looks next to an Uppercase Philadelphia Chipboard letter that is altered with fine silver german glass glitter. You can bet I will be tinting some Crystal Pins with my copic markers or alcohol inks using this Tim’s cool fillable pen in the near future. I love how cute this heart and arrow from the Love Mini Chipboard Set looks altered with vintage sheet music and fine silver german glass glitter. It is attached to one of the Mixed Scallop Triangle Banners from the Mini Set. And I think this button from the Mini Button...

Lottie, talk about a cutie…

Jun 17, 2009

I love this time of the year as all the manufacturers are buzzing with new products. I like to check out what new items my book sponsors are creating and when I saw this new doll stamp Lottie by Pink Persimmon yesterday, well my jaw dropped. I love that this stamp set is named after their crafty Grandma Lottie. Such a sweet gesture. I think I see a new workshop in the future. And here is something fun! The girls at Pink Persimmon are hosting a  Paper Doll Challenge using this very stamp. I say give it a try as the winner will receive vintage embellishments and papers. That right there would be enough for me to give it a go. And to get you jump started Darcy even created a PDF so you...
