Wedding Charms

Mar 28, 2015

Do you need a quick gift to give to a new bride? If so, this is one fast project she will cherish and can either wear, place in a shadow box or on the spine of a wedding album. To create the bead flower bouquet all I did was place one bead onto a headpin then curl the end of the headpin to form a small loop. Once I had 12 completed I bunched them together and wrapped a headpin around the middle of the bunch. Then I attached a jump ring to the wire wrapped area. Super simple. Supplies Used: 13 Headpins, 12 Beads, 3 Jump Rings, 2 Long Rectangle Blanks, 2 Vintage Beads, Black Acrylic Paint Tools Needed: Bench Block, Metal Stamps, Brass Metal Stamping Hammer, Long Nose Pliers (PJ Tool Jewelry &...

Lemon Bath Bombs

Mar 25, 2015

With all the craziness of bath bombs right now, I decided to give it a go and attempt to make my own. I looked all over Pinterest at the ingredients in lots of different bath bombs and by adding and taking away certain ingredients from recipes here is the recipe I created. These little bath bombs smell just like lemon bundt cakes. On my next batch I will add a bit more Lemon Essential Oil (EO) to my next batch as it didn’t smell as strongly as I wanted in my bath but this is the only thing I will change when I make them again. Also depending on the EO used will determine the amount of drops needed. If you make Peppermint bath bombs you will not need as many drops because the oil scent...

Need a crown, of course you do!!!

Mar 18, 2015

Saturday, I was at The Crafty Scrapper attending a birthday crop for my super sweet & awesome friend Trisha Perkins. At her party, she had Cheryl Darrow of Ten Seconds Studio come and instruct everyone on how to make leather crowns. This was WAY WAY WAY out of my comfort zone as I’m a vintage paper kinda girl and there was zero vintage paper to be found here, but let me tell you I now have a new addiction. Working with emboss-able leather is so fun and if you ever have the chance to take one of Cheryl’s crown classes do it, you will LOVE it! Cheryl brought her tools  and molds for the non-doodle calligraphy girls in the class, which as you can see I was one of those girls. Once everyone had their leather pieces embossed...

Ranger Designer Challenge 2015

Jan 16, 2015

It’s always so exciting to be invited to participate in the Ranger Designer Challenge. Basically how it works is Ranger picks a product line to feature, sends the designers a box of the products and you create a project using these products. This year the challenge was a canvas using Dina Wakley’s Media paints, stencils and stamps. Talk about a fun challenge. I also used some Tim Holtz Distress Stickles Dry Glitter Rocky Candy and of course Diamond Stickles. I have fallen in love with Dina’s Media paints. They come in a tube with a flip top and are heavy body acrylics that spread like butter! I already have her new colors Glitz, Sterling and Penny on my list of “Must Have Now” as well as Dina’s super cool new Media Fine Tip Applicator. These...

Recycle All Those Saved Christmas & Holiday Cards

Dec 10, 2014

In keeping with the “I’m using what I have for Christmas and cutting out the needless things I don’t” I recycled some saved Christmas cards and created two super easy gift card holders from one Christmas card. I know I’m not the only person that saves holiday cards. I cannot throw Christmas cards of any kind away. I love them all and especially cherish the ones that have my grandparents signatures inside. I started with a Christmas card that measured 4″ x 5.75″ but you can use any card size you want. This size just allowed me to keep the entire image without having to cut it down to fit a gift card. My completed gift card holders measure 2.75″ x 4″. Once you have your card picked out and if you’re like me and save all your Christmas cards...

Weekend of Holiday Decorating

Dec 8, 2014

The Christmas tree is the first item to go up in our house during the holiday season. Ansley designed this “Peppermint” tree a few years ago and we’ve kept it since. It’s a fun tree that is easy to put up and take down and lets face it during the holidays easy is the key word. Once the tree is all set Ansley and I start to plan how we want to decorate the house. This year it is all about lights. In the den, we decided to hang three wreaths with white lights and some garland with red and white lights in the bay window. We added white lights on the fireplace mantel and I accented it with some of my favorite vintage mercury glass ornaments, garland and green depression glass. I say “I” accented...

Countdown to Christmas Calendar

Nov 24, 2014

This holiday season I’m all about getting projects done in a day. This year, I can’t afford the take a week to complete a project, you all know I’m very capable of creating a mole hill kinda project into a mountain kinda project. So I thought and thought of how I could create a “Countdown to Christmas Calendar” without it taking me days to complete. I love counting down to Christmas just as much as a kid and thought I would share with you what and how I made mine. FREE Shipping In My Etsy Shop

Aug 26, 2014

Next week, I will be on a mini road trip with mom and dad. I’ll be driving them to Evansville, ID to see the LST-325 ship which is  similar to the ship LST-557 that my grandfather Clayton Spinney, (dad’s father) was a mechanic on during WWII. Before grampa passed away and the last time I saw him, he shared with me a heartbreaking story of seeing his best friend killed on deck. That was the only time I ever saw my grampa have sadness on his face but I’m glad he shared the story. After we tour this ship we will then head over to Buckhannon, WV to see mom’s side of the family at the old homestead I love so much. I sure hope my house is still standing when I return home. Altered Art Journal ATC 1

Aug 25, 2014

I was so super happy when I discovered (which is what happens when you clean areas of your studio, you discover things) I had a set of 6″ x 8″ pocket pages that fit inside my art journal. Since these pocket pages are a variety pack I have several different sized pockets that are perfect to add different sized art pieces into my journal. Yes, I’m happy. So once I discovered I had more options for my art journal I decided to create a small ATC type piece to put into one of the pocket pages. This card measures 2.75″ x 4″ so it is a bit off in measurements for a traditional ATC which is 2.5″ x 3.5″.  The base of the card is from a portion of the left over postcard I had from my first...

Altered Art Journal Page 1

Aug 22, 2014

Well I finally did it, I started an art journal. But let me tell ya it was not an easy start. I started out with one page, really didn’t like the bold colors because let’s face it, I’m not a bold color kinda gal, so I then thought I would tone it down a bit, then I really didn’t like it and had to step away from the table because I could feel some major frustration coming on. This is when I decided I would try to make some DIY lip gloss, so I did. It was super fast, easy and I really like it. DIY Lip Gloss Recipe All you need is 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1/4 teaspoon of Vaseline and 5 drops of Peppermint essential oil or the essential oil of your choice....

Handmade Art Journal

Aug 21, 2014

I really love seeing all the amazing art journaling that lots of my friends do but I have issues, like serious issues when it comes to the journals. I love dimensional collage which means, I like to stick LOTS of bulky things in my art. Well, this does not work well with a lot of art journals due to the type of binding most have so the problem was solved this week by creating my own art journal. Now I can add all the bulky items I want and the art journal will still close. The thicker my art journal gets is no biggie because all I need to do is use larger binder rings. Even though I’ve used vintage items that you might not have on had to create my art journal my ideas...

Charm Bracelets and Bangles

Aug 13, 2014

I love the sweet sound of charm bracelets and I’m so lucky to have my grandmother’s charm bracelet. I still remember the sound her bracelet made as she wore it. I LOVED being able to find the engraved charm with my name and birthdate, it hung nestled among all her grandchildren and other special charms she had been given. These two charm bracelets are crafted from hand cut vintage tin, that I cut, sanded and turned into charms. Each charm creates a soft sweet sound that reminds me of a wind chime far off in the distance on a Texas farm. I accented each charm bracelet with a strand of pearl like beads and the bottom charm bracelet has vintage clear glass beads wire wrapped and attach between the tin charms. Each bracelet is a one of a...

A Look at What’s New

Aug 1, 2014

While Bellie was busy painting or watching movies I was busy creating new one of a kind jewelry designs for my Etsy shop. As you can see, this week I was able to add several pieces. I must admit my favorite this week is the owl pendant. These new pendants will look gorgeous with any Autumn attire. Yes, I’m wishing this Texas summer away, although I must admit it has been one of the coolest in 7 years. You’ll find some new resin charms too. These charms have vintage embossed papers or tin encased in resin with wire wrapped freshwater pearls or vintage bead accents. This set reminds me of a beautiful mosaic. I love the warm tones of orange, red and yellow. All my pendants come with either an 18″ or 24″ ball chain...
