Valentine Home Decor Accent

Feb 9, 2015

This valentine home decor piece showcases one of the handmade Penny Candy Dolls I now have in my etsy shop. I love these dolls from long ago and when possible make molds of dolls I think you too would like to use in your crafting projects. This little cutie is holding a book underneath it’s arm. I put together a tutorial so you too can recreate this home decor accent. I plan on displaying this year round in my studio. Supplies Used: Large Wooden Spool, Vintage Sheet Music, White Crepe Paper, 2 Chipboard Hearts, Dina Wakley Media Ruby Acrylic Paint, 16 Gauge Wire, Diamond Glaze, Maya Road Red Glitter, White Embroidery Floss, Red & White Baker’s Twine, Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter, Ranger Multi Medium-Matte, Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue, Flocked Flower, Handmade Penny Candy Doll with...

Hi, Valentine!

Feb 14, 2014

This adorable image reminds me of the cards I would see in gift shops, when I was little. These two have such sweet faces and how can you not love all that pink. If you’re in need of creating a last minute valentine right click on the image to enlarge it, now right click on the image again and choose “save image as” to save it to your computer. Now you can print the image in any size you wish. I think printed in 2.5″ x 3.5″ is a sweet size and would be so cute left on your co-workers desk. I think adding Diamond Stickles to the flower centers, headband and the pink on the puppy would be a nice addition to your card and still keep it in the quick and simple...

Jewelry Clay & Mini Glittered Hearts

Jan 24, 2014

To create this valentine pendant you will need EnviroTex Jewelry Clay, Dress It Up Valentine Collection Love To Flirt, My Jewelry Shoppe  Heart Shaped Bezel (21.5mm x 32.5mm), Metallic Pink Seed Beads & Bubble Gum Perfect Pearls. All but the metallic pink seed beads were purchased at Hobby Lobby. I had the seed beads in my stash already but I’m sure you can find some at Hobby Lobby if you need some. You can also use micro beads instead of seed beads. Mix the Jewelry Clay as instructed by the manufacturer. Once the clay is mixed well place it into the heart shaped pendant making sure to push the clay to the edges of the pendant. Note: I completely filled the pendant with jewelry clay. This way, once I started pushing the hearts into...

On My Table…

Jan 17, 2014

I’ve been playing around in my studio, this week and have really enjoyed working on a few soldering projects. Soldering is something I kinda put on the back burner for a bit while creating my last two books. I get so much satisfaction from creating items I have visualized in my head. I’m a true assemblage girl at heart. The house above has an adorable vintage Valentine image inside and is covered with a layer of resin. The vintage flocked flowers are a beautiful shade of pale pink and one is accented with the words “Love is”. I added two small rhinestones from a vintage necklace to the key. So I’m sure you figured it out that the title of this pendant will be “Love is Key”. I’m going to drill a hole in...

Some Family Fun…

Aug 20, 2011

Hi! Hope everyone had a great week! So happy to be back here again to share with you some of the new vintage-inspired, Vintage Street Market products. This collection of fun paper dolls is from our Family Fun line, which includes great paper doll die cuts for embellishing, and coordinating 12×12 cardstock. One thing I especially love about our own products is  how well they coordinate with authentic vintage items, which leads me to the first project I’d like to share today… Remember these ice cream cups from childhood? I remember every day at school during lunch, we would get to choose a flavor of ice cream, and would be given one of these cups and a little wooden spoon. We were all so eager to eat the ice cream the threat of splinters...

CHA Day 2…

Jan 31, 2011

Over 100 make-n-takes and yards and yards of Pleat Satin Edging having been cut, day 2 of CHA has come to an end. Tomorrow I will be with Maya Road from 10:00 until 12:30. Then at 1:00 I will be doing a book signing and make-n-take for F+W Media (booth #2234) until 2:00. From 2:00 to 2:30 I will be doing another book signing for R+M West Coast Distributors (booth #608). Now remember, since I am on a tight schedule F+W Media will be handing out only 20 tickets to those in line just before my book signing and make-n-take. So if you want to play and get a signed book make sure you get there early. Once I am finished with the book signing at R+M I will head back over to the...

A little Valentine Tutorial…

Jan 19, 2009

I guess you can tell I LOVE Maya Road. Seriously love everything Deb and Caroline make and the great thing about their products are they mix and match perfectly. I always look at their coaster albums and think they would make wonderful fabric patterns. Well needing a break from book projects yesterday I decided to use the bird pattern to create my own fabric embellishment. Talk about super EASY to make. Seriously easy. This is the first piece of fabric anything I have ever sewn. Yes I got the sewing machine to sew on paper. Anyway, I thought I would create a little tutorial thinking you might like to give this a try. Supplies Needed: 2-Ring Heart Binder (1 page) Sheer Heart Scallop Book (1 page) Heart Chipboard Book (1 page) Bird Chipboard Book...

A little bit of this and a little bit of that…

Jan 5, 2009

First, thank you for all the sweet email of well wishes for Ansley and Alan. They are feeling better. Ansley did not go to school today as she is still pretty zapped but she is better and should be able to go back tomorrow.  I think I can now take off my nurse cap. To all you nurses out there… Big huge cheers to you… you all earn every cent you make and I’m certain you should be paid more… what a job. I am so glad it warmed up here a bit over the last few days or we would be having a nasty icy mess right now on the roads. Icicles are not a common site on my birdhouse. We are having lots of drizzly rain that is now starting to freeze...
