Her “Happily Ever After”

Mar 9, 2015

Early Saturday, morning we all piled into the car and drove to Houston for my niece Amanda’s wedding. Saturday, was certainly a day filled with lots of love, happiness and a few tears. It’s amazing how fast time does fly. Amanda was a beautiful bride and married the best guy. We are all so happy to have Steve join our family. He and Amanda are a wonderful couple and we all wish them the very best. The Chapel of the Church of Saint John the Divine ~ Houston, Texas Mr. & Mrs. Steven King Newton Congratulations, Amanda and Steve. I love you....

Charm Bracelets and Bangles

Aug 13, 2014

I love the sweet sound of charm bracelets and I’m so lucky to have my grandmother’s charm bracelet. I still remember the sound her bracelet made as she wore it. I LOVED being able to find the engraved charm with my name and birthdate, it hung nestled among all her grandchildren and other special charms she had been given. These two charm bracelets are crafted from hand cut vintage tin, that I cut, sanded and turned into charms. Each charm creates a soft sweet sound that reminds me of a wind chime far off in the distance on a Texas farm. I accented each charm bracelet with a strand of pearl like beads and the bottom charm bracelet has vintage clear glass beads wire wrapped and attach between the tin charms. Each bracelet is a one of a...

A Look at What’s New

Aug 1, 2014

While Bellie was busy painting or watching movies I was busy creating new one of a kind jewelry designs for my Etsy shop. As you can see, this week I was able to add several pieces. I must admit my favorite this week is the owl pendant. These new pendants will look gorgeous with any Autumn attire. Yes, I’m wishing this Texas summer away, although I must admit it has been one of the coolest in 7 years. You’ll find some new resin charms too. These charms have vintage embossed papers or tin encased in resin with wire wrapped freshwater pearls or vintage bead accents. This set reminds me of a beautiful mosaic. I love the warm tones of orange, red and yellow. All my pendants come with either an 18″ or 24″ ball chain...

Rocky Mountain Memories ~ Estes Park, Colorado

Apr 30, 2014

All of last week I was in Estes Park, Colorado with mom and dad. We had a fabulous time exploring every inch of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. I loved being able to combine work with play especially with mom and dad. They are a blast to travel with and guarantees lot of laugh until you cry moments. Throughout the week, I will be sharing loads of photos taken during our adventure. First I have to tell you about the fun I had teaching classes at Rocky Mountain Memories April 25th & 26th. Cheryl Grigsby is living my dream. Seriously I’m not kidding, she has a scrapbook store, an adorable rental cabin and a home in Estes Park. Oh how this Texas girl wants to move to Estes Park so badly. I truly belong...

Mini Snow Globe Charm

Dec 19, 2013

As soon as I saw the adorable snow globe charm created by Margot Potter I knew I had to make one of these little cuties. Although, I created somewhat of a Texas sized version. I love wearing big chunky charms and thought this would make for an adorable holiday piece to wear on a simple silver or ball chain style necklace. I pretty much created my charm exactly as Margot,  although I didn’t have to trim off the top of a bottle brush tree as I had one that was super small and fit inside my bottle perfectly. All I needed to do was snip off the wooden base of the tree using wire cutters. Supplies Used: 2″ Glass Bottle with Cork (Tim Holtz), .75″ Mini Glass Bottle with Cork (Maya Road), Tinsel Trim,...

Nominate a Kid ~ Winner

Jul 29, 2013

I tell ya this auntie is one tired auntie. I enjoyed every single minute spent with those two sweet nieces of mine. Bellie went home Saturday, and all day Sunday I was dragging. That is after noon because I slept until NOON! Totally crazy. I had a wonderful time with them doing crafts and making fun snacks and if you have kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, kids of family friends or heck even neighborhood kids you have got to make Rainbow Spaghetti. Both Madelyn and Bellie thought it was the greatest thing ever, every kid should have at least one meal in their life be Rainbow Spaghetti. I also enjoyed sharing with you all the fun things we did during their stay. I have all the fun crafts and food fun snacks we created pinned...

Studio Makeover ~ Part 2

Mar 27, 2013

I am so close to being finished with my studio makeover. I just need to hang the curtains over the shelving unit to the left, find a small piece for additional storage to put up on the shelves along the wall on the far left then hang some vintage photos I have and bam… it’s done. I’m really loving the mix of all the things I love with my supplies. To me, personal touches are what make a room warm and inviting.  So let me give you a close up tour and show you how I combined personal treasures and vintage finds among my crafty products. This is what I see when sitting at my work table. I’m using a berry basket to hold my adhesives, a mini pie tin works perfectly for my...

Texas Big + Funky = My Kinda Charm

Oct 31, 2012

Oh goodness where do I start to tell you about this charm. I had so much fun making it but darn 4 days to complete something is a LONG time for me. Patience is not my best character trait but I did it and it was well worth being patient. I used EnviroTex Resin, made my round bezel by free forming some copper metal , then used lots of Nunn Design Metal Embellishments, vintage buttons, an old metal key, rhinestones, beads and trims. Day 1 I attached a piece of patterned paper to the front and back of the round chipboard piece using Nunn Design Glue. Once the glue was dry I sealed the chipboard circle using Nunn Design Sealant on the front, back and edges of the chipboard piece. I applied the sealant three...

Taking a little Blog Break…

May 28, 2012

I’ve been swamped with lots of project deadlines as well as preparing for this sweet girls upcoming High School Graduation, Saturday. So I’m taking a bit of a blogging break. Once things calm down I’ll be back but until then, you might want to check out my blog Archives for fun summer projects I’ve created over the years… lots of good tutorials can be found all the way back to August of 2006. In Honor of Spring

Mar 20, 2012

Since today is the first day of Spring what better way to celebrate than with a book giveaway. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me which “Season” is your favorite and why. I will announce the winner of my book “Delight In The Seasons”, Friday. I love all the seasons but summer in Texas is my least favorite. The fun holidays and celebrations that come along  like birthdays, vacations, weddings, Independence Day etc., certainly helps make up for the 100+ degree temperatures BUT I still do not like summer. So, leave a comment for your chance to win… I can’t wait to read about your favorite season. Good Luck....

Olivia at 1 Month

Mar 6, 2012

It is hard to believe Olivia is already a month old. A few weeks ago my mother and father-in-law went to meet their newest granddaughter for the first time. Needless to say they are in love and got in as many snuggles as possible. There is nothing cuter, sweeter or more demanding than a new baby. Douglas and Karen have survived the first month without too much sleep deprivation and are enjoying Olivia tremendously. I must admit it seems so odd to me seeing photos of Douglas feeding and burping a baby. I first met him when he was 18 and just out of high school preparing to head off to Texas A&M. Once Douglas graduated he moved to Dallas not too far from where we lived. He would come over some weekends to...

Year In Review ~ Jewelry

Jan 5, 2012

I had lots of fun creating necklaces and bracelets using broken pieces of jewelry found at flea markets or thrift stores. One of my favorite things to make are bracelets using vintage earrings. The hardest part is finding earrings at a reasonable price. It is always so fun when I stumble upon a pair during my travels and thrifting. For Christmas I made my niece Amanda and me matching bracelets. She purchased three pairs the two blue ones and the rhinestone shell looking one in the center. Then I scoured antique stores from Texas to West Virginia as well as Flea Markets in McKinney and Winnie, Texas to Antique stores in Frisco, Beaumont, Lumberton and Sour Lake, Texas. Finally, I gathered enough for us to have matching bracelets. I stamped XOXO on a small...

Snow for Christmas

Dec 21, 2011

I LOVE snow and hope we get some this winter… so far all we’ve had is rain… which we need terribly BUT snow sure would be awesome. We have a chance for flurries Friday and Saturday but most likely it will be short lived and turn to rain. We will see and you can bet I will be watching the forecast like a little kid. I have a true love for anything with snowflakes so when Maya Road came out with their adorable “Let It Snow” stamp set, I was thrilled. And their Blue 1″ Ink Pad is a gorgeous winter blue ink, so keep this in mind for any of your winter projects. If you would like to recreate this card cut a piece of white cardstock to 8″ x 11″ then fold...

ScrapFest Recap

Sep 21, 2011

Traveling to different places to teach is always so much fun but being home and in your own bed is awesome. Last night, I slept so hard I don’t think I even moved in my sleep. ScrapFest was awesome, incredible, amazing and inspiring. I would do it all over again tomorrow, if I could. I had a blast teaching all 6 of the Maya Road classes. Every one who came to class was so upbeat and excited. It was so fun getting to chat with so many creative people from all over the country. I really enjoyed being in MN. The people are so nice and getting away from the Texas heat was awesome. I have so many photos I want to share that I took during the event so I decided to create a collage....

Friendship Tokens

Jun 15, 2011

During the meet and greet at Paper Cowgirl we had a super fun friendship token exchange. The tokens can be anything you wish to create and give away. This exchange would be something fun to do at crops or any scrapping event. I just have to show you how creative everyone was at Paper Cowgirl. I did my best to get a good close up of each one I received. My name badge was full. One of the participants crocheted all her flower tokens. Some altered game pieces. As you can see my name tag was full… colored keys tied on with yarn, stickers, millinery flowers a metal dress form was created and watch faces were used. I’m not kidding when I said people made them from all sorts of items. Kraft tags were...

Well yesterday was a day of one flight disaster after another so I ended up not being able to attend Ranger U. I am so sad about it but it was out of my hands. I got to the airport, baggage checked in, through security and flight delay #1 came up, then not too longer flight delay #2 came up, not too longer after that flight delay #3 came up and then BAM flight canceled as well as all flights to Newark. I was on the phone, internet and texting trying to figure out a way to get to Newark but it was just not in the cards for me. So here I sit at home waiting for my luggage to return to me and let me just say I’m a true Texas girl...
