Charm Inspiration…

Jun 23, 2011

I’ve really had fun making charms for Terri and Ansley as well as friends and family. I like to collect little things here and there to create something meaningful from a special moment or event. Then I’ll think and think on it until I come up with a unique way to incorporate the item or items into a small token to give as a remembrance of that day. Last year, while I was in Greece for Cocoa Daisy Destination ~ Mykonos I brought back a little bit of sand, some coins and evil eye charms. I had no idea what I was going to do with them at the time but figured something would come to mind. Well, I will be rooming with Christine and Ronda at CHA-S next month and decided this would be...

So Proud…

May 26, 2011

The summer of 2000 we had the honor of hosting an exchange student from Albania. Julian was the sweet exchange student we could have ever hosted. All of us have such found memories of him staying with our family his junior year. The one thing I remember laughing about a lot was when he would say “no” but shake his head “yes”. I would just look at him so confused and ask him what his answer was… then tell him here when you shake your head like that it means yes not no… we would just laugh. The entire family adored him… grandparents, brothers, sisters, my niece’s and nephew etc. You cannot help but love him when you meet him. These photos still hang on our wall. Ansley never let him out of her...

2010 in Review…

Dec 31, 2010

2010 sure was a super fast paced year. I have so many wonderful moments and events to reflect upon. I am so grateful for you my blog readers as you are some of the most loyal and uplifting people. I always look forward to your replies and when needed your words of encouragement. I am so grateful I have the opportunity to work with so many wonderful manufacturers in the scrapbooking industry. I am very fortunate to be able to teach at an awesome scrapbook store in Waxahachie, Texas, “The Crafty Scrapper.” Some neat class ideas have been swirling in my head for the new year and I cannot wait to share them with Carolyn. I am leaning heavily towards mixed media right now which is so fun. It’s exciting to explore creatively as you...

more bracelets

Dec 24, 2010

Here are a few bracelets I made last night. I have one more to do and then I will be on the hunt for more baubles. These are fun to make not to mention the perfect accessory for any outfit… can’t wait to wear them. I created these the same way I did in my post, yesterday. It’s a rainy day here in Frisco, perfect weather for baking. Getting ready to put some “French Toast” in the oven… Ansley’s favorite holiday breakfast. Then need to do some last minute things before Terri and Laren get her to celebrate Christmas. I hope you all have a wonderful day with friends and...

22 Years…

Apr 23, 2010

It is so hard to believe my sweet Terri turns 22 today. I decided I would spare her all the embarrassing photos I want to show of her through the years. You know the ones only Moms think are cute but are as I have been told totally devastating if others were to see. Instead I will show you a few of her and my son-in-law taken in downtown Fort Worth totally happy and enjoying life… I hope it is always this good for the two of them. Happy Birthday Sweet Pea. I hope today is a wonderful day. Love you lots! Photos taken by Rodney Hays. Rodney’s...

Tarnished Ornament, Charm or…

Nov 3, 2009

REALLY cool keychain… yes, this is what I will be using as a keychain for a bit. This piece makes me so happy! It reminds me of my two sweet daughters Terri and Ansley, I love the sound of jingle bells (the little bells jingle), I love the look of tarnished silver, antique jewelry and chandelier pieces (this includes all three) and stamped on the Trinket Pin is one of my favorite words “Vintage” we all know I LOVE anything VINTAGE! So what do you think of my new keychain? I LOVE IT and think it will make running errands a lot more enjoyable. And now to the tutorial.. you know I LOVE figuring out ways to make things look old and yesterday I figured out how to make silver look tarnished… talk about...

Got a pair of plain gloves…

Oct 8, 2009

If not, I found this pair along with pink, brown and navy in the $1 section at JoAnns. Cut out some flowers from cream felt using a Sizzix die Flower Layers #3. Accent them with a simple backstitch using #543 embroidery floss. Cut three leaves free hand and make a butterfly out of the 2nd to smallest flower on the Sizzix die Flower Layers using the same cream felt. Stitch a simple backstitch on these as well using the same #543 embroidery floss. Attach a pearl bead in the center of two vintage buttons using #543 embroidery floss. Create 2 tulle flowers using white tulle gathered with #543 embroidery floss. Trim the edges of the tulle flower with pinking shears. Layer the flowers together and attach each flower layer using Fabri-Tac  (I layered the...

A little bit of Lola love…

Jul 10, 2009

Dang this little Lola puppy is so sweet and so GOOD! Terri and Lola came to visit today so of course that meant a photo shoot. Here are a few of our favorites. I think she would look cute on a Jones Soda bottle. If you think so too please vote here, here or here. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Ansley leaves for camp tomorrow and I must admit I am kinda sad. I’m gonna miss her. But I have enough CHA projects to keep me busy as well as editing the manuscript for my book… so exciting to see some of it in print. It is all starting to come...

Happy July 4th everyone…

Jul 4, 2009

My daughter Terri and her fiance Laren are certainly starting the 4th off with a bang… and this is the reason why…. Terri and Laren are now the proud parents of a seven week old English Bulldog puppy named Lola. And let me just say Lola has everyone hopping. It seems all she wants to do is sleep in your arms and if not she lets you know it with a very loud cry. I received a phone call this morning at 3 a.m. from Terri letting me know how perfect and smart Lola is about going potty outside. Oh and FYI… Terri lives on the 4th floor. So she will be getting her exercise going up and down those stairs. Anyway, as I was talking to Terri I could hear Lola crying in...

Thrown a Curve Ball…

Apr 28, 2009

Yesterday certainly was one of those kinda days. Mother Nature is something you don’t want to mess with and yesterday she really hit Ft. Worth with severe thunderstorms packed full of lightening… my daughter Terri’s super adorable apartment is now declared unlivable. Star-Telegram article My thoughts and prayers go out to the two firefighters that were injured. I hope they are doing okay and I thank them for their efforts. I will be away for a few days trying to help Terri salvage sentimental items. And just so you know the National Scrapbook Day Workshop is still a go. I have the private member area already set up and scheduled to start as planned May 2nd. I hope those of you that take the workshop have lots of...

Happy Birthday Sweet Pea…

Apr 23, 2009

We are celebrating a big birthday today. Terri turns 21 years old. I first saw this altered cupcake box on Ranjini’s blog many many months ago. She found the cupcake box at Tuesday Morning. I immediately ran to ours to see if they had some and I got lucky. They had two left which I immediately grabbed as I knew I would be using them as money holders for Terri’s 21st and Ansley’s Sweet 16 next year. The box is quite plain but has such potential for altering. The candle is held on by a magnet although I attached mine to the top permanently. Below is what it looks like before a little vintage sheet music, book page flowers, pearls, lace and glitter have been added. Enjoy your day Terri. We love you...

Happy Holidays…

Dec 23, 2008

Gosh… what a bad blogger I have been as of late. I am under a big book deadline so I have been creating like a mad woman. So much so I have thrown out my back. Oh do I ever have empathy for those of you that suffer from chronic back pain. Since I don’t have any projects to share with you right now (which is torture as I have a huge stack of completed items) I thought I would share a few items I received in the mail last week. Terri who participated in my 12 Days of Christmas online Workshop sent me these three beautiful tags and this wonderfully altered paper star. Talk about a great mail day… I love these and will certainly incorporate them in my holiday decor every year....

What a great mail day…

Nov 25, 2008

Okay I have to admit I have been a tad bit stressed about the big “Thanksgiving Day” dinner at our house. Alan’s mom and dad are coming and Terri’s boyfriend Laren will be bringing his family. I know it will be fun and everything will turn out beautifully but I didn’t name my blog “It’s in The Details” for nothing…. seriously I can make myself NUTS detailing everything down to the last grain of salt. I am the type of person that can make a mountain out of a mole hill with any project or event. My brain just keeps thinking about adding this and that and this would be great oh and if we had this, that would be great too…. Sorry I kinda got off topic… wait I don’t think I even...

Homecoming in Texas…

Oct 3, 2008

WARNING… very, very, very long post about 2.5 days in my life. Centennial High School has their homecoming game tonight. If you live in Texas you know all about the MUMS! Those of you that do not, well… girls and boys wear them… girls have these big honkin things pined to their shirts that hang almost to their ankles and boys wear a smaller version around their arms attached to a garter. Well Ansley and her boyfriend Taylor aren’t going to the dance (decided to just hang out instead) so I wasn’t really sure how all this mum stuff worked. So I asked Ansley last week to please find out for me ASAP as I needed to know the garter etiquette. Well she found out for me all right… TUESDAY night at 11! I...

A few “Getting to know you” Christmas Questions…

Dec 6, 2007

Here is a fun “Getting to know you” Christmas questionnaire. When the girls were little we opened one on Christmas eve and the rest Christmas morning, now we celebrate on Christmas Eve. I love the room dark with just the glow from our tree and a few years ago it actually snowed here on Christmas Eve.
