What a busy week…

Nov 24, 2010

I hope you all are getting ready to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. We will be having a very slow paced day tomorrow. This year we are staying put as we decided to do our traveling to see family for Christmas. I must admit it will be nice to just relax and not worry about entertaining or traveling. This Thanksgiving I am getting off so easy… all Ansley requested is “Stove Top” stuffing and a pumpkin pie!!! Can you believe that… Ansley is not a big turkey eater and Alan doesn’t want me to go to all the trouble of cooking for just us three. So they got major brownie points with me this Thanksgiving. I’m thinking a big pot of stew or chili will be great to eat while...

Working on something fun…

Nov 23, 2010

For the past few days in between last minute book stuff, packing projects for shipment, a Dr. visit for Ansley (poor girl is sick again) and everyday life I have been creating a simple “Countdown Banner”. This year, I am determined to keep it simple for the holidays and I am hoping this banner will remind me of this each day in December. This will be another cute project featured in my “Tips, Techniques & Tutorials” workshop. I will have the mini flashcard PDF for you to download as well as the supply list and tools needed. Now I am off to ship a box full of book projects to my sweet editor Jenni. I am truly blessed once again with a wonderful editor. F&W Media has the best staff ever… Managing Editor, Editors,...

Holiday gift card holder…

Nov 21, 2010

As you all know I LOVE the holidays especially Christmas. But the one thing I really don’t like doing is giving gift cards even though I know that is what my nieces and nephew really want. I must get this from my mom as she does not like giving gift cards either. It just feels so impersonal. But we both end up buckling at the knees every year and grant them their wishes. So I decided this year I will make personalized gift card holders for everyone. It will make me feel a little bit better about handing them out. Those registered in my Tips, Techniques and Tutorials workshop will have access to the PDF of the template I used to create the gift card holder shown above. I will post it tomorrow in...

No Stress Just Work…

Oct 24, 2010

This will be my new motto told to me by a sweet friend for the next six months as I will begin working on my SECOND book tomorrow. I am so happy I have been given the chance to work with F & W Media once again. My new book will be technique based just as “Delight In The Details” but it will have step outs on how to recreate not only the techniques but ALSO some of the projects. So excited about this new twist. My first deadline is November 26th so i will be somewhat of a hermit over the next month as these projects will be for the cover and I want them over the top wonderful. Not sure if I can tell you the theme of the book just yet...

and a little Boo to you…

Oct 10, 2010

This “Boo” would make a perfect mask if you wanted to do so. I was being a bit lazy yesterday and didn’t want to drive to the craft store to purchase a wooden dowel but the “O’s” are perfect for eye openings. This chipboard shape is covered with Jenni Bowlin paper, outlined with Platinum Stickles then covered with Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter. I then accented the upper portion of the “B” with Maya Road embellishments and some seam binding. Supplies Used: Little Yellow Bicycle Jumbo Chipboard Shapes, Jenni Bowlin (Family Tree) Cousin Rose Patterned Paper, Maya Road Crystal Star Pin, Maya Road Vintage Pearl Pin, Maya Road Felt Beaded Blossom – Brown, a Black Gelly Roll Pen, Platinum Stickles, Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter is not listed in the store but check out...

Heritage Pennant

May 17, 2010

This is one of my favorite photos of my Mom and her Mother. I am guessing this photo was taken around 1944. I think photo booth photos are the best. So wanting to be able to see this photo more often I decided to create a little heritage style pennant. Now I can display it however I wish. Tips, Techniques and Tutorials I had a super fun Saturday at The Crafty Scrapper. I took two soldering classes 101 and 201. Trisha is a great teacher. If you ever have a chance to take a class from her I suggest you do. You will be so happy you did. I will show you some of the charms I made later in the week. Have a great day. I’m off to send Carolyn the info needed...

Simpler Times…

May 13, 2010

Right now I feel a strong need to do some antique shopping. I want to find some more spools and add to my vintage paper stash. I love vintage papers of any kind. Not much going on here today… just laundry. My goodness I have let it pile up pretty high. But before I could even think about starting that boring task I wanted to create this little project that came to mind just before I fell off to sleep last night. I love the simplicity of it. So cute and certainly does remind me of simpler times. Tips, Techniques and...

Use your scraps…

May 12, 2010

This card was created using up some of the scraps I have been saving. Scraps make the perfect sized cards to attach to gift bags, presents or to use as enclosure cards. And with Graduations just around the corner I’m sure some of you will be needing a few cards… I say make them and keep the savings for more scrapping supplies. Instructions: Trim 3 patterned paper scraps to 2″ x 4″ Scor the left edge of the patterned paper piece that will go on top of your card a .25″ from the edge. Fold over the scored section and attach it to the patterned paper piece that is 2″ x 4″ (this will be the inside section of the card) using a strong adhesive. Sew a straight stitch along the left side of...

I love small houses…

May 11, 2010

I could create an entire village out of this old fashioned putz style house. Really, there are so many wonderful ways to decorate this sweet little house. I have other patterns in my head to create as well but I wanted something simple this go around. I like the simplicity of the black paint against the old book page. Also the accented star… it’s a Texas thing in gold German glass glitter really adds a nice pop of color to the front. Oh and don’t forget the crystal coarse glitter, it adds the perfect amount of sparkle. Tips, Techniques and Tutorials I have been super busy creating some new technique classes to teach at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. My “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” Technique Class will be taught June 12th at...

Mother’s Day Ornament/Tag

May 5, 2010

Here is an ornament/tag I created using an image from this vintage lady pdf. I LOVE these images and plan on creating a few more ornaments to attach to gift bags as needed. I always write a little note on the back of the tag for the recipient as I feel it adds such a personal touch to the gift. And I was really happy with how the rose looked on the tag too. I added a little creamy brown ink to distress it just a bit. I think it’s perfect. Those of you registered in my Tips, Techniques and Tutorials workshop, I will be posting the tutorial on how to recreate this soon. So be watching. Supplies Used: Maya Road Scroll Frames, Ledger Paper, Sheet Music, Platinum Stickles, Maya Road Chandelier Bead, Self...

To glitter or not to glitter…

Apr 26, 2010

Really should this even be a question but I think these little roses look pretty either way. As you can tell I cannot seem to get off this flower addiction. I think of ways to make flowers all the time now. Seriously, it is bad. But oh so fun… so the addiction remains. The tutorial to make these little roses will be posted on my Tips, Techniques and Tutorials paper crafting community soon. I have two flower tutorials posted there now. I think these tiny flowers would look so cute clustered on top of a gift box… hmm, might need to create a mini box template just for these roses. Enjoy your day… it is gorgeous here in...

Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

Apr 23, 2010

Although I’ve posted a quite a few PDF tutorials in my online store, I’m often asked about my techniques for creating the other projects posted on this blog. Since I love to share my techniques and ideas for creating, I’ve created a new private membership area, called “Tips, Techniques and Tutorials, a paper crafting community.” This new private blog/community will be a fun place where I’ll share my favorite tips and techniques, as well as step-by-step tutorials that you can follow to recreate many of the future projects you will find here on my “It’s In The Details” blog. We will have a forum so that we can chat, and for everyone to ask questions. This will be a community about creating and sharing. The annual cost for membership is $14.95, which averages out...

Well you can now see the entire piece on the JBS Inspiration blog as today I’m the Guest Star. Now for a little rambling… I must say it feels really great being able to walk around my scraproom. This place is so clean and organized, almost too clean and organized. Any one wanna guess how long it will take me to make a huge mess once again… oh what a vicious cycle. I have a few projects to get finished this week for Memory Makers. They are publishing another wonderful Idea Book which I am so happy to be a part of. They are so great to work with… honestly I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. I am still trying to come off my high from my great find yesterday. I just...

New online workshop “You R 2 Tweet”

Feb 20, 2010

This “You R 2 Tweet” mini banner is the fun project I taught at CHA-W in Anaheim this past January. The great thing about this online workshop is you don’t have to show up at 7:00 a.m. to start creating like I and everyone else had to do. You get to create this project in the comforts of your own home and on your own time. I tell ya not being a morning person sure did make that a tough time slot for a class but we all made the best of it (most with Starbucks in hand) and had a great time creating. This mini banner was created so everyone could finish the project in 90 min. which explains why I only used 3 pages from the Maya Road Mini 2-Ring Triangle Banner...
