12 Day Advent Pocket Calendar #6

Dec 7, 2009

We are so close to finishing up this 12 Day Advent Pocket Calendar. I find this a fun way to keep the holidays going during Ansley’s winter break and it helps with the sting of having to go back to school… just a little something to look forward to each day after Christmas.  And I decided to give you a peek at how I am arranging the pockets. This is far from being finished as I need to add some trim and other embellishments but at least this way you can see the method to my madness. Just two empty spots left to fill. I love how today’s pocket worked out… the little jester doll looks as though he is throwing a snowball.. too cute! Stamp image onto heavy weight white cardstock, ink on...

12 Day Advent Pocket Calendar Pocket #11

Nov 11, 2009

For the next several weeks I will be posting 12 altered pockets that when finished and put together will create a 12 Day Advent Pocket Style Calendar. I hope you decide to play along as you too will end up with an adorable calendar. This project is still in the works and is an idea I have so I will not have a complete supply list for you a head of time, just supplies used for that days pocket. I like to try to create something each day and think this will be a fun project to have in the works. I already stamped my images and accented my Fragments Charms so which ever charm pocket I feel like working on and finishing that day is the one you will see the next. It...

Holiday Gift Tags…

Oct 27, 2009

These are so fun to make and can be used as either a holiday gift tag (who wouldn’t like seeing their name on the front of these tags) or as an embellishment for holiday cards. There are lots of possibilities here. Which means you’re certainly going to be seeing more projects over the next few months using these as well as this one and this one. I love just them! Instructions: Stamp images onto white heavy weight cardstock using Archival Ink in Jet Black, trim each stamped image to 1 1/8″ x 2 3/4″, ink over images using Tea Dy and Vintage Photo Distress Inks, trim the end of each tag using small scallop scissors, accent the sides, top and bottom of each tag with straight lines using a black pen, accent each scallop...

All Hallow’s Eve Registration….. Starts Today!

Sep 1, 2009

YAY… today is the first day of registration for my new “All Hallow’s Eve” online workshop. Once registered, you will have access to the private blog which presently lists all the supplies and tools needed to recreate each project. The cost for this online workshop is $19.95 and includes 12 project tutorials. For those that are participating in any Halloween tag swaps I placed a few tag tutorials in the first two weeks of the workshop. Each tutorial includes color photos and step by step instructions. Some projects will come with templates to make the creative process a bit easier and I have included vintage postcard and mini flashcard downloads for...

Love you tag…

May 14, 2009

Tags are a simple way to use up your scraps. I have a terrible time throwing any size scrap piece of paper away especially if it is a vintage piece as I always think it will be perfect to accent a tag, card or embellishment. I created this “Love you” tag using scraps from vintage sheet music, an old book page and even the area from a book pages blank margin… which is perfect for typing out my sentiment and keeping with the vintage feel. Supplies Needed: Office Tag (approx. 2 3/8″ x 4.75″) Vintage Sheet Music Faux Vintage Millinery Flower Maya Road Crushed Velvet Trim (Cream) Brown & White Baker’s Twine Dresden Trim ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink (Creamy Brown) Tools Needed: Paper Trimmer Scissors Sewing Machine (optional) Tim Holtz Paper Distresser (Seriously is...

Tissue Paper Flower…

May 6, 2009

Since my previous flower tutorial was so popular I thought I would make another one using the same Flower, Daisy #4 Sizzix Die. Hearing how much everyone enjoyed Sewing Pattern Flower Tutorial it certainly made creating the tutorial worth it as it is a bit time consuming. I love to share and hopefully inspire so thanks to those that left comments and sent a personal email. I really appreciate you taking the time. Now on to this tutorial. I think this flower would be super sweet with a small office tag attached with a little To: Mom with love and placed on top of an altered box, in a tiny milk glass vase or just placed on her bedside table as a morning surprise. Again, Enjoy! Supplies Needed: Sizzix Die Flower, Daisy #4 Tissue...

Ever wonder how I work…

Mar 12, 2009

well I work best in small tight areas as you can see from this photo. This workspace is about 10 x 6 and I mean inches not feet. I made a project today in this teeny tiny space. Tomorrow I hope to work in at least a 12 x 12 inch space. To the right of this tight little space is this big mess but you can see some of my favorite embellishments and accents for projects… Stickles, Pearls, Scallop Ric Rac, Fiskars Tools, Cream Embroidery Floss, Tim Holtz Distressing Tool (seriously the best out there), Plastic Spoon for Glittering, Aleene’s Paper Glaze, Collage Pauge, Old Book Page etc. Wish I could show you the project I made using these items… I guess you will have to wait until Oh mid February of next...

It really is…

Nov 2, 2008

all about those little details. I just can’t seem to leave a project alone. I have to keep adding and adding and adding… for example… See that little button behind the pom pom… yep had to put it there or I wouldn’t be able to sleep… See the Platinum Stickles around the edge of the tag and in the center of each letter and the double bow of red & white and brown & white twine… yep another had to do it. See the thread in the button… had to have this too. So if you really want your projects to pop and have that added bit of umph… just keep adding little things here and there as they really do make a huge difference and all the little extras will make your eyes...
