Wedding Charms

Mar 28, 2015

Do you need a quick gift to give to a new bride? If so, this is one fast project she will cherish and can either wear, place in a shadow box or on the spine of a wedding album. To create the bead flower bouquet all I did was place one bead onto a headpin then curl the end of the headpin to form a small loop. Once I had 12 completed I bunched them together and wrapped a headpin around the middle of the bunch. Then I attached a jump ring to the wire wrapped area. Super simple. Supplies Used: 13 Headpins, 12 Beads, 3 Jump Rings, 2 Long Rectangle Blanks, 2 Vintage Beads, Black Acrylic Paint Tools Needed: Bench Block, Metal Stamps, Brass Metal Stamping Hammer, Long Nose Pliers (PJ Tool Jewelry &...

It is Love ~ Scribbly Bird Tag

Feb 3, 2015

Since the birds are pretty happy Spring is coming and have been chirping non-stop outside my window and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner I decided to create this tag using Dina Wakley’s Scribbly Birds and Collage Hearts stamp sets. I think her stamp sets are some of the most unique on the market as all are created from images she has drawn in her art journals. This tag is layered with a Jenni Bowlin Stencil, Ranger Texture Paste, Dina Wakley Media Paints, Platinum Stickles, Book Pages, Washi Tape and of course stamped images using Manila Cardstock, Jet Black Archival Ink and Dina’s...

Ranger Designer Challenge 2015

Jan 16, 2015

It’s always so exciting to be invited to participate in the Ranger Designer Challenge. Basically how it works is Ranger picks a product line to feature, sends the designers a box of the products and you create a project using these products. This year the challenge was a canvas using Dina Wakley’s Media paints, stencils and stamps. Talk about a fun challenge. I also used some Tim Holtz Distress Stickles Dry Glitter Rocky Candy and of course Diamond Stickles. I have fallen in love with Dina’s Media paints. They come in a tube with a flip top and are heavy body acrylics that spread like butter! I already have her new colors Glitz, Sterling and Penny on my list of “Must Have Now” as well as Dina’s super cool new Media Fine Tip Applicator. These...

Altered Art Journal Page 1

Aug 22, 2014

Well I finally did it, I started an art journal. But let me tell ya it was not an easy start. I started out with one page, really didn’t like the bold colors because let’s face it, I’m not a bold color kinda gal, so I then thought I would tone it down a bit, then I really didn’t like it and had to step away from the table because I could feel some major frustration coming on. This is when I decided I would try to make some DIY lip gloss, so I did. It was super fast, easy and I really like it. DIY Lip Gloss Recipe All you need is 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1/4 teaspoon of Vaseline and 5 drops of Peppermint essential oil or the essential oil of your choice....

All The Gals ~ Collage

Jun 19, 2014

Here is a small 4″ x 6″ collage I created using one of the gals stamps from Dina Wakley’s new All The Gals stamp set and her new Media paint. First, if you have not tried her paints you are really missing out. These paints spread like butter and are heavy enough to create peaks and brushstrokes in your art. They are AMAZING. To create this little art journal page I first covered the left side of the watercolor paper using pieces of a dress pattern and Multi Medium as my adhesive. Using Jet Black Archival Ink I stamped one of the All The Gals stamps onto the watercolor paper. Using watercolors, I painted the gals stamped image as well as all around the background of the stamped image. Using a stencil and Dina’s Media paints...

Sing Your Own Song

Jun 3, 2014

I wasn’t kidding when I said I LOVED Dina Wakley’s Scribbly Birds stamp set. Here is another piece I made over the weekend. Using Jet Black Archival Ink I stamped the bird image onto a 6″ piece of watercolor paper, then filled it in with acrylic paints. I painted the entire background with teal acrylic paint. I used the Kaleidoscope stencil by Ronda Palazzari and some of Wendy Vecchi’s Crackle Texture Paste to add texture to the piece. Once the paste was dry and did it’s magic I inked it with Archival Inks and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Using Multi Medium I attached some vintage sheet music and an image from a book. Next I covered the stenciled areas and the branch image with bits and pieces of a dress pattern. Once the multi  medium dried I...

Scribbly Bird Obsession

Jun 2, 2014

I have a huge obsession with Dina Wakley’s Scribbly Birds stamp set. I’ve collected glass birds since I was in the 2nd grade and have abandoned bird nests sitting in my studio window. So when I saw Dina’s stamps she got me instantly. My favorite way to use them at the moment is to simply stamp the bird images onto watercolor paper using Jet Black Archival Ink then simply color them in using Twinkling H2O’s and a Tim Holtz Water Brush. Super simple and no messy clean up. Here is what my finished collage of painted birds looks like. I really like how the brown, gold and teal color combination looks together. These are mini 2″ square pieces of watercolor paper that I stamped and painted. I think they look super cute and this size is...

Rocky Mountain Memories ~ Estes Park, Colorado

Apr 30, 2014

All of last week I was in Estes Park, Colorado with mom and dad. We had a fabulous time exploring every inch of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. I loved being able to combine work with play especially with mom and dad. They are a blast to travel with and guarantees lot of laugh until you cry moments. Throughout the week, I will be sharing loads of photos taken during our adventure. First I have to tell you about the fun I had teaching classes at Rocky Mountain Memories April 25th & 26th. Cheryl Grigsby is living my dream. Seriously I’m not kidding, she has a scrapbook store, an adorable rental cabin and a home in Estes Park. Oh how this Texas girl wants to move to Estes Park so badly. I truly belong...

Jewelry Clay + Stamps = Awesome Part 2

Apr 17, 2014

Here’s a peek at how the bird piece I created from jewelry clay is coming along. If you missed the blog post about it last week you can view it here. As you can tell, I painted, inked and stamped all over the cured jewelry clay. Now I just need to wire wrap lots of beads and pearls to attach between each link. I love having lots of pretty sparkly baubles on bracelets. I’m still not sure I like the toggle, actually I know don’t the more I keep looking at it the more it bothers me so it’s coming off and will be replaced with I have no clue as of...

Jewelry Clay + Stamps = Awesome

Apr 10, 2014

I needed a big accent for an idea I have for a cuff  and since I couldn’t find what I had in mind I decided to make my own. I mixed a batch of ETI Jewelry Clay, formed it into the shape I wanted, and pressed one of Dina Wakley’s Scribbly Birds stamps into the resin clay. Then to create a slight bend in the piece so it forms to the wrist better, I covered a bottle with plastic wrap, put the bottle on it’s side and placed the resin clay piece on the bottle to cure overnight. Super simple. Once the piece cured overnight, I add paint layers in green, beige, gold and brown and this is what it looks like so far. I’m going to LOVE this piece and cannot wait to...

Hand Stitched Ornaments

Dec 5, 2013

I love to make handmade items during the holidays. I believe it all stems from my childhood and making holiday items with my mom. For as long as I can remember she and I have made something for the holidays and these fabric ornaments are fun to create especially if you like instant gratification. I did the stitching one night and then stitched the back on the next. The images are Maya Road stamps that I stamped onto natural muslin using Archival ink. I stitched a simple outline stitch all along the images, then using a pencil, lightly wrote the name onto each ornament and hand stitched over it. Inside the butterfly I added some Diamond Stickles for a little sparkle. Once I had the images stitched I decided to use a Maya Road...

Stylish and Fashionable ~ Card

Oct 23, 2013

I love to create mini collages on most all my projects. I get great satisfaction in combining multiple items to create a focal point on cards, tags etc. This card uses stamps from the Antiquated Collection Society Lady & Stylish and Fashionable stamp sets and patterned paper by Pink Paislee. I have a huge crush on their Cottage Farms Collection. I closely trimmed around the brooch and boot using my favorite of all times as in forever, Fiskars Coastal Craft Knife. If you have not tried this craft knife do yourself a favor and give it a try. This knife fits perfectly in my hand. To add a bit more dimension to the card, because I don’t think I can ever have enough dimension, I attached the brooch and boot to the card front...

Maya Road Sneak Peek ~ Wood Bird Cages

Jan 8, 2013

In between book projects, I squeezed in a little creative time to make some small CHA projects for Maya Road. I must say, I’m LOVING the new Wood Bird Cages (page 1 in the catalog) and 4″ x 6″ Card Sentiment Words Stamp Set (page 4 in the catalog). This tag was fun and pretty quick to create. I started with an Inkssentials #8 Manila Tag and covered it with Pink Paislee patterned paper. I then used the Maya Road Ornate Feathered Friends 4″ x 6″ stamp set as a background stamp (page 15 in the catalog). I then machine stitched a straight stitch all around the inside edge of the tag and distressed and inked the edges. Tip: I leave the stamps on the clear sheet as the come when purchased then ink the stamps with...

Funky Little Canvas

Jan 3, 2013

This is the funky little canvas I made for my niece Amanda, for Christmas. It is of her and her boyfriend Steve after a TCU game. They are the most adorable couple and I really do hope he ends up being my nephew. Steve is sweet, smart and cute! Ok enough of that because I can hear Amanda saying, “BEASIE” all the way from Houston. Not sure why she named me Beasie when she was a baby but she did and it stuck, so I’m Beasie. Anyway, enough of all that and on to the canvas. I did a photo transfer of their photo onto a 4 x 4 canvas, then using Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints and stamps I accented the sides of the canvas. I protected the image transfer with a coating of...
