Ranger Designer Challenge 2015

Jan 16, 2015

It’s always so exciting to be invited to participate in the Ranger Designer Challenge. Basically how it works is Ranger picks a product line to feature, sends the designers a box of the products and you create a project using these products. This year the challenge was a canvas using Dina Wakley’s Media paints, stencils and stamps. Talk about a fun challenge. I also used some Tim Holtz Distress Stickles Dry Glitter Rocky Candy and of course Diamond Stickles. I have fallen in love with Dina’s Media paints. They come in a tube with a flip top and are heavy body acrylics that spread like butter! I already have her new colors Glitz, Sterling and Penny on my list of “Must Have Now” as well as Dina’s super cool new Media Fine Tip Applicator. These...

Recycle All Those Saved Christmas & Holiday Cards

Dec 10, 2014

In keeping with the “I’m using what I have for Christmas and cutting out the needless things I don’t” I recycled some saved Christmas cards and created two super easy gift card holders from one Christmas card. I know I’m not the only person that saves holiday cards. I cannot throw Christmas cards of any kind away. I love them all and especially cherish the ones that have my grandparents signatures inside. I started with a Christmas card that measured 4″ x 5.75″ but you can use any card size you want. This size just allowed me to keep the entire image without having to cut it down to fit a gift card. My completed gift card holders measure 2.75″ x 4″. Once you have your card picked out and if you’re like me and save all your Christmas cards...

Stickles

Jun 5, 2013

Most of you should know by now that I have a serious LOVE for Stickles, especially Diamond and Platinum! When teaching these two are a given for items needed in class. I use Stickles on pretty much everything I create and I have a saying about them too, “Stickles is to Crafters what Botox is to Plastic Surgeons. You can always use a little somewhere”. If you are a crafter that does not like loose glitter Stickles is a product for you. It’s easy to use and there is zero mess. So today, I’m going to show you how I use a little or a lot on my projects. Diamond Stickles is a great way to give a simple flower a little pop. All you need to do is apply a small amount onto...

Funky Little Canvas

Jan 3, 2013

This is the funky little canvas I made for my niece Amanda, for Christmas. It is of her and her boyfriend Steve after a TCU game. They are the most adorable couple and I really do hope he ends up being my nephew. Steve is sweet, smart and cute! Ok enough of that because I can hear Amanda saying, “BEASIE” all the way from Houston. Not sure why she named me Beasie when she was a baby but she did and it stuck, so I’m Beasie. Anyway, enough of all that and on to the canvas. I did a photo transfer of their photo onto a 4 x 4 canvas, then using Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints and stamps I accented the sides of the canvas. I protected the image transfer with a coating of...

25 Day Countdown to Christmas ~ Recap

Nov 27, 2012

I had so much fun helping my nieces Madelyn and Bellie create their 25 Day Countdown to Christmas project over the Thanksgiving weekend. They were so excited and worked so hard on each and every envelope. We had a flurry of creativity going on as you can see by all the blurry photos. They were peeling, sticking, punching, stamping and Stickling like crazy. It was really cute to watch their creative minds at work. Madelyn loved accenting each of her envelopes with the rhinestone gems and snowflakes. She is all about sparkle and bling. But what little girl isn’t? And GASP, a niece of mine that does NOT like sparkle and bling… well that would be so wrong. Bellie LOVED these 3D stickers I found at the last minute in the $1 section at...

25 Day Countdown to Christmas

Nov 23, 2012

Today, I’m making a 25 day Countdown to Christmas project with my nieces Madelyn and Bellie. As you can see from the photo they are loving their new matching jammies. New flannel jammies are the best especially when you find matching ones like my mom did with a monkey print design. Ok sorry, back to the project. Both little sweet peas will decorate 12 standard sized card envelopes using stickers, self adhesive gems, then stamp the numbers needed on each of their bags. Madelyn will stamp the odd numbers and Bellie the even numbers. I will decorate envelope 25 for them to either use as a sample or for inspiration. Once all the envelopes are decorated I’ll fill each one with 2 pieces of candy and a printed strip of paper that has one...

Maya Road Linen Album

Jul 12, 2012

So happy to finally be able to share the Maya Road Catalog for CHA-Summer. They have some awesome products coming out this release and one of my favorite’s is their new 4″ Binder Linen Album that has 3 linen pages and 3 chipboard pages. I finished my mini album using this album just in the knick of time too… I leave bright and early… no, wait it wont even be bright when I head to the airport Saturday morning, just early… ugh. I’m so not a morning person… I just hope while I’m passed out in my seat on the plane I don’t drool. Okay enough of my traveling and on to my mini album… I had fun altering this album with lots of amazing new product. Notice the key in the center, it’s...

Altered Birdhouse…

Feb 17, 2011

This altered paper mache birdhouse was so much fun to make. Every little spot has something attached to it. You’ll notice all kinds of Tim’s new products attached here and there. I must admit one of the products he sent were his new light bulbs. At first I was kinda stumped on what to do with them but then I had a “light bulb moment” sorry couldn’t help myself and started tucking them in among all the other baubles and think they worked perfectly. The light bulbs are the perfect size for the miniature projects I like to create. And that fractured doll… oh how I could have a million of them and would still want more. I love those dolls so much. You will be seeing them in future projects and classes for...

Another Art Form…

Jump Rings, Bail Plates, E6000,Vintage Buttons and BAM… new addiction! Here are a few things I made, yesterday. I need to get some chains to put these on and I think several necklaces worn at once will look really cute and certainly blingy at CHA. I love how the lighting there makes everything seem to sparkle more. Tomorrow, it’s back to book projects… refocus, Lisa, refocus! I have a technique swirling around in my head I can’t wait to try and I feel it’ll be an awesome one for my book. These are a few pieces I made for Ansley And here are several pieces I made for me out of vintage pins, buttons and cuff links. This is so much fun and I love that all are unique. Are you going to try...

Some Holiday Bling

Dec 23, 2010

This is a bracelet I created using some big pearl cabochons I’ve  had for a while and some vintage rhinestone buttons I’ve been hoarding. It’s super simple to make and one I will be wearing a lot as I love anything that sparkles. This idea came about while I was in Hobby Lobby, yesterday looking at all the holiday clearance items. While walking around I ended up in the jewelry aisle. I saw their bracelet with bezel items and BAM I had an idea. Well I could not get home fast enough to see if it would work and as you can see it did. I wish the sun was out today so you could see the sparkle but looks like a cloudy day for us. I plan on going back to Hobby Lobby...

Feels like winter…

Dec 12, 2010

Finally we are having some cold temperatures, once again. It has cooled down and warmed up so much this month. I’m ready for the cold weather to get here and stay. It is way too hard to get into the Christmas Spirit when it’s 70 something degrees outside. This is the last week of my “All Things Winter” workshop. Today, I shared tips on distressing. I love the distressed look on projects and there are so many fun tools you can use that allow you to achieve different looks. My absolute favorite distressing tool hands down is the Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Paper Distresser, this little tool fits perfectly in my hand and is always an arms reach away. This week I will show you how to recreate the layouts below. As you can...

Glittered Easter Eggs

Mar 25, 2010

I see glittered paper mache eggs all over the stores this time of year and never can allow myself to purchase them since they are so easy to recreate. I love how they sparkle when the light hits them. You can find paper mache eggs in all sizes but since I have a bag full of small ones I decided to make some mini glittered eggs. Right now it is all about me trying to use up my stash. You can create and attach a hanger to the top of each egg out of Baker’s Twine then place it on that Easter tree I keep talking about… which should just about be filled if you are making these projects. I tell ya what, if you are creating these Easter projects send me a photo...

Remember this sneak peek…

Mar 16, 2010

Well you can now see the entire piece on the JBS Inspiration blog as today I’m the Guest Star. Now for a little rambling… I must say it feels really great being able to walk around my scraproom. This place is so clean and organized, almost too clean and organized. Any one wanna guess how long it will take me to make a huge mess once again… oh what a vicious cycle. I have a few projects to get finished this week for Memory Makers. They are publishing another wonderful Idea Book which I am so happy to be a part of. They are so great to work with… honestly I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. I am still trying to come off my high from my great find yesterday. I just...

Rhinestones and Glitter…

Nov 7, 2008

As many of you know I love that combination.… sparkly things make me so happy. Especially around the holidays. I love seeing all the lights twinkle, the glitter sparkle and the rhinestones shimmer. This is a little sneak peek of what we will be making tomorrow in my workshop while we await the arrival of Santa. Each Saturday evening Santa will visit the gallery to pick someone who has been very creative with their workshop projects. Then Sunday, I will announce who will receive a RAK of fabulous Maya Road goodies. Oh the fun that is being had by...

UR in bloom

Oct 18, 2006

I created this mini album for my daughter Ansley. I used all Junkitz paperz, buttonz and ribbonz. I put stickles (Star Dust) on top of them to add just a bit of sparkle. I think it was a perfect accent.
