Always adding more…

Dec 9, 2011

So the more I looked at the domino art piece I posted yesterday, the more I felt it needed more… it just lacked that little something extra. So back into the scraproom it went as I had ideas in my head and well, once and idea enters my head I can’t do anything else until I give it a go. So here is what the finished piece looked like, yesterday. And here is what it looks like now. Since I could not apply alcohol ink to the face to darken the complexion, without worrying that the alcohol ink would ruin the stamped image, I decided to stamp the image onto the blank margin of a vintage book page then carefully and  ever so precisely cut out the face. I then placed the cut out image...

The parentals came to town…

Apr 19, 2011

Saturday, mom and dad came up for a quick visit and when they come they always bring fun stuff. Mom painted me a gorgeous painting that will reside in my scraproom soon so I can see it everyday. I love the colors and texture so much. I did  my best to get the colors correct but the lighting is not working with me too well this morning. The size of the canvas is 16 x 20 and will fill the space in my scraproom perfectly. Hanging on the green wall will really make all the colors pop nicely. I really like the simplicity of the three little birds sitting on the twig. The sides of the canvas are the same color. Then you have several different shades of beige, red and turquoise. Love, love,...

Magnetic Board and Doily

Apr 5, 2011

Here is how I plan on using the tray I found a few weeks ago at Frisco Resale. Once my scraproom is cleaned up from all the book projects being created it will find a permanent home in there until then it will sit out in the living area. The button magnets are old buttons my dad attached magnets to the back of. They work perfectly on this tray and look adorable. I plan on using this tray as an inspiration board, receipt holder and what ever else I need to not misplace at the moment. I always keep the letter from my sweet Uncle Ed near by… he always has such wonderful words of encouragement and is so proud of my book. The doily flower magnet you see at the bottom of the...

Adding to my glitter containers

Mar 17, 2011

Oh how I love to see my glitter inside these salt shakers and sugar dispenser BUT when I was in Frisco Resale not too long ago I found these adorable ceramic houses. They were only .50 a piece and were screaming TAKE ME HOME with YOU! I had to figure out what I was going to do with them as believe me I have enough little pretties here and there around the house and I do NOT need anymore. Well I was looking at the chimney on both houses and instantly thought they would be perfect for pouring and then BAM new glitter containers came to mind. Honestly, they are perfect and look so cute sitting on my shelf in my scraproom. I took these photos in our living room to get some much...

Fun notions project…

Feb 22, 2011

While I was on Pinterest looking at all the wonderful photos posted I came across this super cute project. I thought it was such an awesome idea and knew I had to make one. When my grandfather passed away mom and dad brought me back a cup and saucer they found in one of Grampa’s cabinets. The painted blueberries reminded mom of when we went blueberry picking one morning while we were visiting, this past summer. Well I decided I would use this cup and saucer to make my little notions holder and it was super easy. All you need to do is attach some small magnets to the bottom of the saucer using E6000 as directed on their package. Once the magnets were attached I attached the tea cup to the saucer using...

Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers

Feb 11, 2011

I bet you were expecting another tag using Perfect Pearls? Well this one features Ranger’s Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers. When using paint I find it most inspiring to create whimsical pieces with brighter colors rather than my usual vintage style and shades. Kinda strange when I think about it. Also, did you notice I used my Canvas Album as inspiration for this tag? If you did, you are a very devoted blogger. I always find it fun to use items around my scraproom to create designs… one of the simplest things to create are polka dots with the non-bristle end of my paintbrushes. All you do is dip the end of the brush into the lid of the paintbrush and start creating dots. Clean up is super simple too. All you have to do...

Snow day..

Feb 4, 2011

It is nice to get a snow day instead of ice days. Frisco is on day 4 of no school due to ice and snow. I do believe we got more than the 1″ they were predicting and we should get another 1″ this morning. I must admit I do love looking at it and watching the snow flakes fall but I’m sure all the people trying to arrive today for Super Bowl weekend aren’t too happy. This much snow in our area really is not good. I heard Love Field Airport is closed at the moment… yikes. Not sure about DFW. The left of our neighborhood looking out the front door. The right of our neighborhood looking out the front door. What you see when you open the back door. And our backyard....

I’m home

Feb 3, 2011

It sure did feel great sleeping in my bed last night although I was hanging on for dear life because Chief was hogging my entire side of the bed. I must say the drive was a whole lot of scary getting home. I have never seen so much ice ever in Texas. Ansley has not had school since Monday and will not have school tomorrow either. Tonight and tomorrow morning we are supposed to get snow so no telling what tomorrow will bring in the weather department. Although they say it should get warmer Saturday so the ice should melt. We shall see. I certainly have enough work to keep me busy for the next month as my step-by-step photo shoot is next month. While at CHA I was happy to get a new...

Today’s Reality…

Jan 18, 2011

Remember my nice made over scraproom way back in August… well this is the reality of it today. Lots of fun things are being created  in here for my book and for CHA. The boxes shown hold product from book sponsors, new release items and my favorite go to products. The everyday reality of this room stays pretty  much like this… just gonna keep it real for you all. I can’t be someone I’m not. So I won’t even try to tell you my room is super clean and tidy all the time. And that I put everything up as soon as I’m finished using it… nope not even gonna go there. What I do love about these photos is everything I love to work with is right there, in it’s box, close at...

A Gray Sky and some sprinkles…

Sep 2, 2010

means it is a perfect day to work in the scraproom and what better products to play with then Jenni Bowlin and Maya Road. I have to say I am in love with Jenni’s new paints ( have not tried the inks yet but I am certain I will love them as well) the colors match exactly with all her inspiring products. I still need a few more colors of her paints and ink which I will be purchasing soon. I gotta have them all. Once I finish this mini album it will be filled with cute photos of Ansley and her friends. As you can see I started out with a Maya Road 4″ binder album, painted it with Jenni’s new paints (Chili Powder “inside”, Lemon Drops and Malted Milk “outside”) and plan...

These things make me smile…

Aug 19, 2010

I thought I would show you a few more things from around my scraproom. I just love old and new mixed together… although what I am going to be showing is mostly old… also, I find it fun to decorate my scraproom with items I have found with other people while digging in antique stores or thrift shops… makes me think of them a lot when I use the products I have stored in dishes etc. I have used these two candle holders for years to fill with candy hearts for Valentines Day or snow for Christmas but now they will be filled with vintage buttons of every kind. Oh how these make me happy sitting right on my worktable at arms reach. I always think of me and dad scooping out and counting ...

Scraproom Makeover

Aug 16, 2010

I have not fallen off the face of the earth… just been lost in my scraproom. Last weekend my friend Lisa E. came over and helped me clean out my scraproom… let me just say if you need to clean out yours she is the one to get to help as she will make SURE you stay on task and get it done… nine hours later I had every shelf, drawer, nook and cranny, AND the closet cleaned out. Nothing was left untouched. We filled the trunk of her car and half the back seat with products to sell in a garage sale. So with all of this said yesterday my sweet daughters, son-in-law, husband and pretty much adopted daughter Mercy came and helped empty out my scraproom so the painters could paint my...

I spy…

Aug 6, 2010

a really messy bar and kitchen table. The bar is loaded with lots of fun things I purchased while in Maine and West Virginia and the kitchen table is filled with stuff I have been using this week. You too can have this mess if your scraproom is so out of control you need to ask your neighbor to help you come organize…. next week hopefully all that you see will fit into my scraproom. Pray for me that Jennifer does not leave the second she sees what I have done. You will spy with your little eyes vintage milk bottle caps (for my future Christmas online workshop), German glass glitter, bag full of vintage tinsel and aluminum garland (more items for an online workshop), old bottles to be cleaned and filled with vintage...

Altered Paper Mache Box

Mar 28, 2010

I tell ya cleaning out my scraproom has allowed me to find some things I had forgotten all about having. This paper mache butterfly box was stashed away deep down in a drawer and these bunny picks where hanging in a bag that had been pushed way back in the closet. Putting the two together sure did make for a super cute altered box. I’m so glad I found them. This is what the Rabbit looked like originally. I found these in the Easter section at JoAnns. Supplies Used: Butterfly Shaped Paper Mache Box, Book Pages, Stamens, Creamy Brown Ink, Rabbit Pick, Krylon Silver Leafing Pen, Strong Liquid Adhesive, Glue Stick, Craft Knife, Craft Mat, Collage Pauge Instant Decoupage – Glossy, Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter, MM Manila Acrylic Paint Tools Needed: Paintbrush, Scissors...

Altered Easter Eggs

Mar 20, 2010

While cleaning out a drawer in my scraproom I found a package of 12 small (1.5″ tall) paper mache eggs. By the way, it is amazing what you find when you clean out drawers. I highly recommend you give it a try. You’ll be surprised at the things you have that you totally forgot about…  anyway, I thought some altered eggs would look really cute on my Easter tree along with the Easter Ornaments (only 1 kit left) from the class I taught at Crop-Paper-Scissors. I think a set of 6 glittered with German Glass Glitter and 6 covered with vintage sheet music and crystal coarse glitter will look adorable. The Glass Glitter and the vintage sheet music will accent the vintage postcard images perfectly and transform a plain Spring tree into an adorable...

Copic Markers and Silk Flowers

Mar 17, 2010

These two make a wonderful combination. I picked up a bunch of cheap super pale yellow silk flowers at JoAnns several months ago. I figured I would use them for some project as their size was perfect. Well over the weekend while I was putting away, throwing out and organizing my scraproom I started thinking about dyeing them different colors but wanted a super fast and easy way. Well just then I had my copic markers in my hand and made a note to myself to give it a try once I was finished with my scraproom. Supplies Used: Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter, Collage Pauge Instant Decoupage – Glossy, Copic Ciao Marker R22 – Light Prawn, Silk Flower, Paintbrush, Tweezers All I did was color the entire flower using the Super Brush end...

Doing the major Happy Dance…

Mar 15, 2010

Before I dropped off all the items I was donating to Frisco Resale I decided to stop in and take a look for any old books they might have sitting around… well no books were to be found but I did score this wonderful little set…. I nearly fainted when I saw these sitting on the shelf. Seriously I could not get to them fast enough… I got all of these for under $15.00. From what I can find out this is Pink Frosted Mayfair Open Rose Depression glass. It was made in the 1930’s and I LOVE it! I plan on taking these with me when I teach and filling the bowl with German Glass Glitter, sorted buttons will be placed in the relish dish and the platter and sugar and creamer will...

What was I thinking?

Feb 11, 2010

Seriously, I had no idea I would have such a wonderful response over my book. I honestly put my heart and soul into each project and wrote in the hopes that you would feel like we were sitting at the kitchen table chatting. You all have been so incredibly wonderful and I thank you so much. This being said I had NO idea I would be so busy after I came home from CHA. My feet hit the floor running. Everyone that purchased a book from me… it is on the way so start stalking the mailman now. I have been answering email like crazy so if you sent me one and I have not responded as of yet please know I am answering them as quickly as I can. I am also designing...

This sweet banner will be displayed in my scraproom and certainly in a spot so that I can see it all the time. I just love it. Digging, digging and digging…

Oct 13, 2009

My goodness is it ever so obvious when you look at my vintage stash just how much I love vintage Christmas items. But since my dad is Santa I guess this is to be expected. I have been pulling items out like a mad woman as I prepare for my next online workshop… the CHRISTMAS workshop. Oh how I love to create Christmas projects. I have a list of things to create that I think are going to make a charming holiday workshop. The name is still yet to be determined so I had a thought… leave a title idea in the comments section of this post. If your title is picked you will win a free access pass to the workshop. If no title is picked I will have Ansley pick one person...
