Pink Carnations

Feb 9, 2011

This tag uses all four of the new Perfect Pearl colors from Ranger’s new Confections Set. I really like Pink Gumball as I think it is the perfect shade of pink for tinting flowers. And Wendy’s butterfly stamp is the perfect accent to go over sheet music. I love how you can make Perfect Pearls show in a subtle way by dry brushing them on (butterfly image) or mixing them with water or Perfect Pearl Mists on your non-stick craft sheet and applying them with a paint brush like watercolors (pink carnations). I had lots of fun with this tag. As you know or have figured out by now I love making paper flowers and when you add Perfect Pearls and Stickles to that list I am having loads of fun. Supplies Used: Perfect...

Who do you love?

Feb 8, 2011

As a child growing up I loved getting to visit my grandparents. Grammy Childers and Grammy Spinney always had one thing in common… flowers. I remember knowing I was at Grammy Spinney’s house as soon as I saw the pansies in her yard. And every summer Grammy Childers had the most gorgeous Hydrangea bush just below her kitchen window. The blooms were the size of dinner plates. Her garden always had flowers growing around it as well as along the sidewalk of her house. So each time I see flowers blooming I always think of them. So since flowers seem to remind me of those two special ladies I thought I would share this tag I created for Ranger. It was in there booth during CHA-W. The flowers on this tag were created using...

Perfect Pearls Love Tag

Feb 7, 2011

I created this tag using the new Perfect Pearls Confections Kit just released at by Ranger CHA-W. If you went to Ranger’s booth you might have seen it. This new combination is so pretty and reminds me of Spring. If you would like to recreate this tag just go here and you’ll find the entire supply list and step by step instructions. I used the Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Florals Bigz Die to make the flower. I like the look of the pearls and vintage buttons strung on 24 gauge wire. I think I might be doing this more often. And yes you can see I used UTEE on the tag. It adds just the right amount of dimension and is so simple to do. I need jars and jars and jars of this...

I’m home

Feb 3, 2011

It sure did feel great sleeping in my bed last night although I was hanging on for dear life because Chief was hogging my entire side of the bed. I must say the drive was a whole lot of scary getting home. I have never seen so much ice ever in Texas. Ansley has not had school since Monday and will not have school tomorrow either. Tonight and tomorrow morning we are supposed to get snow so no telling what tomorrow will bring in the weather department. Although they say it should get warmer Saturday so the ice should melt. We shall see. I certainly have enough work to keep me busy for the next month as my step-by-step photo shoot is next month. While at CHA I was happy to get a new...

It’s a BeaUTEEful day over here…

Jan 24, 2011

(I think I just saw some eyerolls, but really how cute is the word BeaUTEEful? Talk about making a super cute t-shirt… and I would wear it!) Ok on to some projects. This was a simple brown box that a necklace came in and I turned it into this using these products … Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Blending Tool, Jet Black Archival Ink, two Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Stamps (Script & Flower), Embossing Ink, Mold-n-Pour, Clear UTEE, Heat Gun, Non-Stick Craft Mat, Platinum Stickles, Heavy Weight White Cardstock, Seam Binding and Foam Squares. From start to finish this took no more than 30 min. And I also made this sweet teeny tiny house covered it in UTEE (did you really think I wouldn’t?) then altered trees, trims and a banner. The entire piece is...

You are going to LOVE these…

Jan 23, 2011

I was asked to create a canvas for Ranger’s designer wall at CHA. Well the product we had to highlight was their Perfect Pearl Mists and their new Perfect Pearls colors. You are going to LOVE these. Check out Suze Weinberg’s blog to see the new colors and a few sneak peeks of her canvas… I cannot wait to see it in person. It was fun to create what ever I wanted with the only requirements being it had to be my style and I had to use the products sent my way. I used WAY MORE Ranger products on my canvas than what was required but one technique seemed to lead to another which meant using another product and so on… I think the Rock Candy Crackle Paint looks AWESOME on the frame… I...

feels so good and yesterday was a wonderfully productive day.. I got the make-n-take I will be teaching for F+W Media all bagged up, started gathering the extra items I need to bring to CHA and created, created, created. I finished up the inspirational baubles. Wonder who’s hands these will end up in at the show. Made this ring… Ansley is going to keep me super busy making these for her and her friends. Had an awesome mail day… Thank you cThru Ruler Company… they are a book sponsor and sent me the entire Art-C line. Talk about loads of inspiration in this box! Yikes I cannot wait to start playing with this. And then I topped the night off by making this cuff using vintage lace, cream felt and new Maya Road trims....

Inspirational Baubles…

Jan 21, 2011

Not that I don’t already have enough to keep me busy with CHA  just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to make something small to randomly hand out to a few people each day at CHA. Just little random acts of inspiration and kindness. And yes, it does involve UTEE. I tell ya this stuff is so fun. And I am so glad to hear some of you are going to wipe the dust off your jars and use yours. I got lots of email yesterday thanking me for the UTEE inspiration. Just remember I WARNED YOU… this stuff is addicting. I plan on altering 14 of these little hearts. Each one will have a different word and different embellishments. I will post a tutorial on how I made them in...

Seek Joy

Jan 20, 2011

I was asked to create a few things for Ranger to display at CHA. One of the products they wanted me to create with was their Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE). CHA Workshop… hope to see you there!

Dec 11, 2009

I am thrilled to be able to teach a workshop at CHA this year. F & W Media asked me to create a project using techniques taught in my book “Delight In The Details” which will be released at the show. Of course I was thrilled to have been asked and certainly accepted the opportunity. I will only be teaching this workshop once and I kept it small… only 50 people as I really like to be able to interact with as many people one on one as possible. I will also share a few make n takes that you can easily recreate in your store. Just a little added bonus in the class. I will have instructions available via email in PDF form for those stores that are present. Below is a sneak...

Fall is in the air…

Oct 26, 2008

Finally it feels a bit like fall here in Texas. Actually almost had frost on the pumpkins a few mornings ago. Which just so happens to be the inspiration behind this card. Yesterday, I had so much fun playing with some new stamp sets. They are by Pink Persimmon. My three favorite stamp sets are the “Little Red Wagon“, “Banner” Small and Large and “Carnival Alpha” Small and Large too cute for words… so go take a look. Adorable I tell ya. I created this card using lots of my favorite product lines… Melissa Frances (How can you not love Melissa Frances?) Maya Road… no brainer there, Martha Stewart Glitter and Ranger Stickles. Also… here is a little sneak peak of a tutorial that will be available for download November 1st. I absolutely love...

A bunch of this and that…

May 3, 2007

A portion of our fence was knocked down and our neighbors trampoline (they live 3 houses down) ended up in our backyard. I have been playing with some alcohol inks by Ranger and must say Ranger + Maya Road = pure delight! Look at how pretty these Sheer Blossoms look inked and accented with glass glitter.
