Boobie Canvas…

Oct 5, 2010

I bet that title got your attention. Remember the canvas I did and said it was for a great cause… well below is all the info on how you can try to win mine or any of the other talented artists who participated in Cheryl Darrow’s canvas raffle. It would be awesome if she could send a great big fat check to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. You can remove the Jenni Bowlin vintage image inside the canvas niche. I think it would be awesome to place your own family photograph inside. The ledger paper used on my canvas is from 1933, the book page flowers are from an old American Literature book and the vintage shell buttons are from a collection a man had been collecting for YEARS. He had over...

Artistic Journey was AWESOME! I had so much fun meeting and creating with everyone and cannot wait to do this again… next year, right Caroline? Since I have so many photos to post I will not be too wordy and let the photos speak for themselves. Enjoy! Downtown Waxahachie and The Crafty Scrapper. Some of the attendees created tags prior to the event that were showcased in the storefront window… Laura was busy checking everyone in while Katie and Carolyn chatted with a few of the guests. Everyone got a goody bag filled with AWESOME products. Mary Lou and Kerri were always super busy at the register. Returning from having a group photo taken. Friday evening was filled with Make n Takes. Once everyone finished each station they had an adorable mini album to...

Artistic Journey

Sep 30, 2010

I have been so excited for Artistic Journey to begin and can’t believe it is finally here. Tomorrow, I head down to Waxahachie to spend three days with a wonderful group of ladies at The Crafty Scrapper. These ladies are coming from all over ready to create, make new friends, shop and have fun. Friday night will be filled with make n takes and lots of laughter. Then Saturday and Sunday, I will be teaching my shadow box class along with Katie Watson and Aubrey Rives. Katie created an adorable recipe card holder and Aubrey created a super fun and whimsical mini album. I cannot wait to see these two as I only get to see them at CHA. Laura my online vintage buddy and CHA pal will be there too as well as...

Cocoa Daisy Destination ~ Mykonos

Sep 28, 2010

This past week was spent with a wonderful group of ladies (as well as a few husbands) from all over the world and a group of teachers (Ali Edwards, Jenni Bowlin and Karen Russell) who I have admired for a very long time. I still cannot believe I was lucky enough to be a part of it all. Tricia and Elina did such a great job selecting the accommodations, the food for our breakfast and dinner each day, the cocktails each evening as well as having a cooking class and Greek dance lessons at the hotel. Each night was a special dinner out at a restaurant with either Ali Edwards or the Daisy Instructors, a lunch with Jenni Bowlin or a tour with Karen Russell. There was a tour provided to see the ancient...

Today most of us with Cocoa Daisy hung around the hotel getting ready for our make n takes for the evening. So in between preparations I took a cooking class that was available and had such a wonderful time. I certainly will be trying my best to make the dishes we were shown. I also wondered around the hotel and took photos of areas that will bring back fun memories. The cooking class we took was a blast and I must say I am ready to start cooking greek food… it is wonderful! I love all the white on white that you see here. Another wonderful stairway… I am so in love with these shades and the view… This is what I see as I am making blog posts… my system is certainly going...

A group of us walked into town today to do a little shopping and eat lunch. It was windy and cooler today. The sun was bright and the water was gorgeous as usual. Here are a few photos from today’s excursion. This is along the water as we got into town. The water is so cool and refreshing and CLEAR. Lots of quaint family churches are on the island. They say most families have their own church next to their house. It is so pretty when you fly over the island as you see all their steeples. Pathway in town… love all the pathways there are lots and it is very confusing. As I understand it they did it this way so that it would confuse the pirates when they came to the island....

Sep 20, 2010

I hope your Monday was as great as mine… got up this morning, ate some fabulous Greek yogurt with pineapples, oats and honey on top then topped it off with chocolate crepes. I am certainly not starving that is for sure. After breakfast I walked around the hotel and took some photos… I love the doorways  in Mykonos. This is the doorway leading from the lobby to the patio. Here is the doorway leading out of the hotel. What you see looking out the door. Today there were 7 cruise ships in view. Love the shades they have in the window and notice the pop of red. The lobby decor here makes me want to go to IKEA. And thankfully living in Frisco I have one just around the corner. Tomorrow will be pretty...

Okay really I cannot even begin to describe how incredible Mykonos  is… I say look up every single incredible word in the dictionary and that might describe this place. I will be coming back here no doubt…  so here are more photos that I took during the day yesterday. I know my family and hopefully some of you are looking forward to seeing Greece through my eyes. The only colors you really see here on the island are pops of blue or red among all the white. It is truly gorgeous. Poolside lighting … the lighting is even cool in Mykonos And eating lunch poolside here is a true delight… I could really get used to this type of living. Getting ready to walk down to dinner and waiting for the sunset… love all...

Wow is all I can say… Mykonos is incredible. The food is awesome. Shops stay open well past midnight, the temperature is perfect and the people I am spending this week with are AWESOME. We went out to eat last night and had the most incredible salad ever. Honestly I could eat this every single day of my life. We ate dinner out on the patio and the entire trellis over our heads was covered with this blooming trumpet vine… it was stunning. This was my view first thing this morning… it made me instantly think of my daddy as I know he would love to be out in the sea sailing. Another scenic view taken around the hotel this morning… so gorgeous. And another stairway… loves this so much although going down is...

Jenni Bowlin Paint Dabbers…

Sep 13, 2010

Did you know Jenni Bowlin now has acrylic paint dabbers and ink pads that match her color schemes perfectly? Well if you didn’t she sure does and they are awesome. I got to play with some while creating this mini album for a guest blog post on her Inspiration blog. I love Chili Powder as it is a wonderful shade of red. I used the Chili Powder, Lemon Drop, Malted Milk and Fountain Pen when creating this mini album. If you want to see photos of the inside visit her Inspiration blog… And I cannot believe I head for Greece this Friday. I am running around like a crazy woman getting all my last minute items and hoping everything will fit into one suitcase… I really do not want to bring two. Thankfully I...

A Gray Sky and some sprinkles…

means it is a perfect day to work in the scraproom and what better products to play with then Jenni Bowlin and Maya Road. I have to say I am in love with Jenni’s new paints ( have not tried the inks yet but I am certain I will love them as well) the colors match exactly with all her inspiring products. I still need a few more colors of her paints and ink which I will be purchasing soon. I gotta have them all. Once I finish this mini album it will be filled with cute photos of Ansley and her friends. As you can see I started out with a Maya Road 4″ binder album, painted it with Jenni’s new paints (Chili Powder “inside”, Lemon Drops and Malted Milk “outside”) and plan...

Aug 19, 2010

I thought I would show you a few more things from around my scraproom. I just love old and new mixed together… although what I am going to be showing is mostly old… also, I find it fun to decorate my scraproom with items I have found with other people while digging in antique stores or thrift shops… makes me think of them a lot when I use the products I have stored in dishes etc. I have used these two candle holders for years to fill with candy hearts for Valentines Day or snow for Christmas but now they will be filled with vintage buttons of every kind. Oh how these make me happy sitting right on my worktable at arms reach. I always think of me and dad scooping out and counting ...

Scraproom Makeover

Aug 16, 2010

I have not fallen off the face of the earth… just been lost in my scraproom. Last weekend my friend Lisa E. came over and helped me clean out my scraproom… let me just say if you need to clean out yours she is the one to get to help as she will make SURE you stay on task and get it done… nine hours later I had every shelf, drawer, nook and cranny, AND the closet cleaned out. Nothing was left untouched. We filled the trunk of her car and half the back seat with products to sell in a garage sale. So with all of this said yesterday my sweet daughters, son-in-law, husband and pretty much adopted daughter Mercy came and helped empty out my scraproom so the painters could paint my...

Goodbye Chicago

Jul 31, 2010

I sure will miss this city. I do believe it is my favorite. Their downtown is awesome. I love everything about it and the flower gardens they have throughout the city are just gorgeous. So I thought I would share a few photos I took while we were walking downtown yesterday. While you are looking at the photos I will be trying to figure out how to pack all this great stuff into my suitcase. It is basically goign to be like trying to stuff an elephant into a teacup. Wish me luck. Cool piece of art. Chicago Stock Exchange Their dresses and hair are all made of paper… so cool. The fountain. Kids were running all over this place having a blast. The Bean, the artists on the right was creating a gorgeous painting...

Show Day 3

Jul 30, 2010

This one is a day late but by the time we finished breaking down the booth and eating dinner it was late and I was pooped. As you can see my day started out as usual at the make-n-take booth. People loved learning how to make medallion flowers. They loved it so much so that I taught 100 people how to make them. That is a lot of making and taking in 5  hours. Right before the show started I went to another one of my favorite manufacturers… Crafty Secrets.  They have some adorable items coming out. You will notice several projects using my friend Vicki Chrisman’s 3D shadow box frame dies and they are super cute. Their booth is filled with loads of vintage goodness. Notice the 3D Shadow Box Frame above… I...

Pre CHA day 1

Jul 25, 2010

Started my day playing with this little cutie Miss Olivia. After breakfast we headed to the convention center to start putting the booth together. The blank area you see will soon be filled with lots of Maya Road goodness.  This is Laura and Aubrey working on the walls. Once it gets past the second row I am vertically challenged. Here is Laura and David with a little organized chaos going on. It is always such an accomplished feeling once we get the walls all set up. Here is some serious organized chaos.  The ribbon wall is plain torture for me… thankfully, Caroline knows this and gives this task to someone else… Laura. I have no idea how she manages to complete this task. If it were up to me to get it done CHA would be over and you...

Make-n-Takes and Mini Workshop Project

Jun 26, 2010

Here are some sneak peeks of the items I will be teaching during the Cocoa Daisy Destinations Mykonos 2010 event. While making this make-n-take sponsored by Maya Road and Ranger you will get to play with Maya Mists, Chipboard, Stamps, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints and Stickles. You can make yours just like mine or use the same products and alter the chipboard piece how you wish. This will be your name tag. While making this make-n-take sponsored again by Maya Road and Ranger you will alter a mini acrylic butterfly using Alcohol Inks, Stickles, Stamps and Glitter.  There will be two different color schemes for you to pick from… brights as...

Keep an open mind all my vintage friends…

as this is very different from my normal style by a long shot BUT painting sure has rested my shoulder and it is feeling much better. Only I would end up with a scrapping injury. So here is what I have been working on and am so glad I can finally share. This album uses Maya Road products from their Summer release as well as lots of Maya Mists and Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints. Love these paints so much. This project will be a class at The Crafty Scrapper someday in the near future… just need to figure out when. This album includes photos of my dad, mom, me and my husband Alan. See I was not kidding… very different from what I usually...
