Valentine’s Day Tag

Jan 14, 2014

I’m getting a jump start on creating some Valentine’s day tags and thought I would share this one with you. I think my little Handmade Kewpie Doll fairy looks adorable holding her “I Love You” vintage heart pick. Her wings are altered using white ink and Diamond Stickles. The red iridescent rhinestone trim is gorgeous against the red satin pleat trim. It’s hard to tell in this photo but gosh, I promise it’s so pretty. To top off the tag, I covered the chipboard center heart with silver ink and fine silver German glass glitter. Swoon! And you are in luck if you want to create a tag just like this as I have a limited supply of kits listed in my Etsy Shop. I even include easy to follow step by step instructions...

Cyber Monday Etsy Sale

Dec 2, 2013

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I have a few added pounds from mom’s awesome turkey, stuffing and desserts. After dinner everyone was stuffed and all us adults needed naps except Madelyn and Bellie, they were running around like the energizer bunny and were glued to Ansley’s hip. Madelyn and Bellie LOVE Ansley. After 50 years, mom and dad finally have a table to sit the entire family. This has been one of mom’s wishes for years and I’m so glad it finally came true. Thanksgiving dinner was a wonderful way to break it in too.  From left to right are Mom, Laren (son-in-law), Terri (daughter), Amanda (niece), Steve (Amanda’s boyfriend), Dad (Santa), Brittain (nephew), Bellie (niece), Ansley (daughter), Me and Madelyn (niece). Here is a run down of day one… 10:00 – 11:00 ~ start make-n-takes in the Maya Road booth. Tiny Baubles

Feb 22, 2012

I have no idea what I’m going to do with these miniature altered tins but I did enjoy making them. Creating with no real purpose does not happen that often for me so I appreciate this time when it comes. Filling the tins with tiny baubles from thrift store finds was fun. These would look really cute as magnets but then I thought maybe I could attach them to the front of a vintage bottle… decisions, decisions, decisions. But this is what happens when I create in the middle of the night with no real purpose. I get an idea, make it then figure out what to do with it later. I’m really leaning towards attaching them to a bottle and I think I just saw the perfect bottle sitting on the top shelf...

A Blast from the Past…

Aug 25, 2011

I thought it would be fun to show you some layouts I created using Cocoa Daisy kits from around 2007. Now that Ansley is a senior this year I find these layouts even more special. She grew up way too fast. In the layout above I felt there was too much white space in the background of Ansley’s photo so I used the end of my paintbrush and some acrylic paints to create a polka dot background. I like the pop of color the polka dots create and they fill in the white space perfectly. To pop the photo a bit more I painted yellow acrylic paint all around the edge of the photo creating a bright colored border. To fill in the white space on the photo above I attached clear buttons to...

Hello Card

Aug 3, 2011

This card is one I created using the August Main Kit “Siren’s Call” by Cocoa Daisy and the Add On Kits “Calypso” and “Mist and Ink“. The window with the flower box was super fun to make so I thought I would tell you how I did it if you want to give it a try. Using Maya Mist I sprayed the chipboard window. Once dry I removed the four panes and placed a piece of patterned paper on the back to look like curtains. I covered the flower box using patterned paper, sanded the edges and accented the polka dots with Diamond Stickles. I then cut 4 pieces of 24 gauge wire to about 8″ in length. I thread one end of the wire through a button about 1″ and twisted the wire...

Gift Box

Jun 29, 2011

I altered this box using the Main Kit “Urban Loft” by Cocoa Daisy. I plan on placing a gift card inside for a special someone on their birthday. Afterwards they can use the box to store small items inside. Altering items is one of my favorite things to do… I love turning something that was discarded and no longer wanted into a new treasured item. That is one reason my closet looks like a hoarder lives in my studio. I cannot pass up small boxes and paper mache items. I always think, “Oh this would be awesome to alter.” I really like the flowers that come in the “South Loop” Add On Kit. They are prefect to create a little floral grouping. And you know I love the Maya Road Crystal Trinket Pins. There...

Cocoa Daisy ~ Urban Loft Sneak Peeks

Jun 24, 2011

Since reveal day is only four days away I thought I would share a few sneak peeks of some projects I completed using the July Kit “Urban Loft” by Cocoa Daisy. I also had to have two Add On Kits “Telegraph Hill” and “South Loop”. Christine certainly has a gift in putting kits together as they’re awesome. This is a sneak peek of a project I created using the Main Kit “Urban Loft” and the Add On “South Loop”. This project uses the Main Kit “Urban Loft” and the Add On “Telegraph Hill.” I added the vintage milk bottle cap… the cork buttons and JBS bow fit so perfectly in the center I could not pass it up. For this project I used the Main Kit “Urban Loft” and both Add On Kits “South...

Just 4u

Jun 7, 2011

I really like the warm color scheme of this card. The combination of the red and cream is so pretty. Of course the pops of Diamond Stickles here and there are awesome too. I covered the bottom two journaling cards with patterned paper and left the top one “Just 4u” as is, then distressed and inked the edges and attached it to the middle circle using a pop dot. I think the October Afternoon Word Sticker strips work great as the tones match the tones of the red and cream perfectly. The strips add interest and color to the card in a super simple way. Products used are from the June Cocoa Daisy “Cherry Soda” Main Kit and “Chocolate Malt” Add On Kit. I have a few kits left over from my “Quilted Memories”...

Remember Today…

Jun 6, 2011

Actually I wish the cardstock sticker said “weekend” as it was such a fun one. Friday night, I taught my “Quilted Memories” class at The Crafty Scrapper. I left a few kits with Carolyn if you would like one. Just give her a call at the store: 972-923-3151. My friend Lisa E. joined me at the store which is always fun. We’ve been friends going on 11 years. She is my scrapping buddy. I had some super fun ladies in class and hope to see them again soon because we sure did laugh a lot. After the class was finished Lisa and I stayed and laughed with Carolyn (the owner). The girl cracks me up and is always entertaining. Saturday, Lisa E. and I went to GASC in Arlington to see Carolyn’s awesome booth....

Happy Days…

May 31, 2011

No, not the show from the 70’s… those fun summer moments when we were younger that we had no clue would be the happy childhood memories of today. I spent hours outside jumping rope, blowing bubbles, having fun at the beach, slurping on popsicles with my brother and eating watermelon on hot summer days while the juices ran down my chin. These are the moments I look back on and remember fondly. So, with all these memories being shared, you can bet when I saw these patterned papers by Pink Paislee in the June “Fruit Smoothie and Banana Split” Add On kits by Cocoa Daisy I knew just what I was going to make… a fun summer card. I think this card portrays all that is summer as a child. Additional supplies used came...
