Recycle All Those Saved Christmas & Holiday Cards

Dec 10, 2014

In keeping with the “I’m using what I have for Christmas and cutting out the needless things I don’t” I recycled some saved Christmas cards and created two super easy gift card holders from one Christmas card. I know I’m not the only person that saves holiday cards. I cannot throw Christmas cards of any kind away. I love them all and especially cherish the ones that have my grandparents signatures inside. I started with a Christmas card that measured 4″ x 5.75″ but you can use any card size you want. This size just allowed me to keep the entire image without having to cut it down to fit a gift card. My completed gift card holders measure 2.75″ x 4″. Once you have your card picked out and if you’re like me and save all your Christmas cards...

Archived Halloween & Fall Projects

Oct 17, 2012

With fall finally getting ready to hit my little neck of the woods.  I thought it would be fun to do some digging in my archives and list all the fall and Halloween projects I’ve created over the years. Even though some of the items I’ve used are no longer available from some manufacturers there are still plenty of products out there from others for you to easily make substitutions. Just click on each of the links below and they will take you to each of the blog posts. As you can see I have several cards, decorations and a mini album just waiting for you to create. Also, I thought it would be fun to show you one of the first layouts I ever made. This one is of Sonny our golden retriever...

Such a DELIGHTFUL Day

Dec 2, 2011

Yesterday, was such a DELIGHTFUL day. The advance copy of my latest book Delight In The Seasons arrived… yes, I sat and looked at every single page feeling so accomplished. I allowed myself to soak up the excitement and joy of seeing all my hard work finally in print. I don’t do this nearly as much as I should. I’m always ok, finished that now move on to the next idea/project… And once again, F+W Media, Inc. did an incredible job turning my vision into reality. Their entire team is amazing. They help to create some of the most gorgeous books on the market. If you are wondering a bit about this book here is how they describe it on the back cover… Make Each Season Delightful! Lisa Pace is at it again, this...

Halloween 2011 Completed Album

Nov 8, 2011

Here is the completed Halloween mini album. I love how it turned out. Jenni Bowlin and Maya Road were made to go together. I accented the stems of the pumpkins using JBS Decorative Brads, MR Leaf Pins and Trim. It’s now ready to fill with cute Halloween photos of little trick -or-treaters and some journaling about their fun candy filled evening. Front Cover I added brown and white baker’s twine to the top of the smaller pumpkins and accented the edges of the JBS Alterable Letters – Micro Dots using Chicken Feed and brown ink. And of course I accented the top of each letter using Diamond Stickles. The 2011 are JBS Vintage Black Stickers. Pages 1 and 2 Pages 3 and 4 The numbers 3 and 4 on page three are from the JBS...

Altering the House

Nov 5, 2011

I feel like I’m burning the candle at both ends, right now. I’ve been working on special projects, writing instructions for three classes that I will be teaching, next weekend at The Crafty Scrapper, gathering supplies to kit for the classes and trying to finish up this Halloween Mini Album. So tonight I finished altering the house and thought I would share it now instead of waiting until Monday. I covered the majority of the chipboard house using this Halloween 2011 patterned paper by JBS Mercantile. The small sections are perfect to alter the house and pumpkin. The owl and stars on the roof are from this patterned paper. After I covered the house with patterned paper I sanded and inked the edges using a brown ink. Then I attached the patterned paper of...

Altering the Pumpkins

Nov 2, 2011

Please forgive me for the last few days. I have been working on some projects that I cannot wait to share. I will be doing an online chat with A Cherry On Top, November 19th (once we have the time set I will let you know) during this chat I will finally get to reveal my secret… needless to say, I am counting down the days. So, if you want to know make sure you are all signed up at ATOC to participate in the chat. Okay, so now to altering the chipboard pumpkins with Jenni Bowlin’s awesome Halloween 2011 line. To create the pumpkin template place a piece of computer paper on top and trace over the recessed area with a stylus and cut out. For the stem portion of the pumpkin I traced...

Getting Started

Oct 27, 2011

When creating a mini album I like to cover the base pages first and build from there. Jenni Bowlin’s Halloween line reminds me of the vintage Halloween items I come across now and then when thrifting and walking around flea markets. The images on the patterned papers are awesome. Tools and Supplies Used: Glue Stick, Craft Knife, Craft Mat, Sanding Block, Glossy Accents, Maya Road 1″ Ink Pads True Black, Metallic Gold, Maya Road Glitter Licorice Black, Regal Gold, Diamond Stickles Album Cover Pages 1 and 2 Pages 3 and 4 Pages 5 and 6 Pages 7 and 8 Back Cover Once all the pages are covered I then alter the mini chipboard embellishments. I inked and glittered a cat, two trees and two maple leaves. Then I altered two mini chipboard pumpkins using...

The Creative Process

Oct 26, 2011

I’m often asked how I come up with my ideas and how I create… so today’s post will give you a little insight into my creative madness. LOL, I really do torture myself and I’m not kidding. First, I get an idea which usually comes to me at night when in bed. My brain starts to unwind because I’m always wound up like an 8 day clock. It is then that all the ideas start creeping in my head and I take notes. The other night a mini album idea popped into my head for Halloween. I have some of the new super awesome JBS Halloween line and embellishments that I have really been wanting to use but could not come up with an idea that I really liked. I was thinking about all...

A Happy Christmas…

Oct 28, 2009

Yes it looks as though I skipped Halloween and Thanksgiving all together and went straight to Christmas. Honestly this was not my intention it just kinda happened… I guess it comes as no surprise that I was the kid ready to pull the Christmas tree out of the attic the second I saw any sign of Christmas in the stores. Mom and I always had some kind of Christmas craft going on each year. I still have the stuffed fabric ornaments we made one year… once we made lots of cute ornaments using a simple salt and flour dough mixture then painted and coated them in varnish… not sure what happened to those but I’m sure it had something to do with Southeast Texas humidity. Anyway, I could go on and on telling you...

Vintage Halloween Feather Tree Ornament…

Oct 16, 2009

I LOVE making these ornaments. Ansley says they are freaky and certainly not her most favorite project I have ever created but I am standing strong when I say, “I love them, I really, really love them and I will make them for every holiday.” If you would like to make one of these ornaments here is how to do it. Using wire cutters, cut a piece from a green Chenille Bump Stem so that you have two bumps on one piece (legs) and then either one or two bumps on a second piece (arms). I like to have two bumps for the arms so that I can curl the hands in to hold items. If I use one bump I find that the arms are too short. Next all you do is fold...
