Thrift Store Find…

Jun 10, 2009

My German Glass Glitter will look great stored in these little cuties. They are the perfect size to keep on my work station. I like to have two kinds of silver German glass glitter on hand at all times. It seems as though I can’t create anything without a little coarse or fine glitter someplace on a project. I will be offering some of these for sale...

Faux Vintage Millinery Pin Tutorial…

May 7, 2009

I love anything vintage especially vintage millinery pins. I always wonder how the previous owner wore theirs… did they adorn their hat, a lapel, accent a scarf or sweater etc… so with Mother’s Day just around the corner I thought it might be fun to make one just for Mom. You could present this pin to her by attaching it onto a card, placing it into a special altered box or by attaching it to the center of a bow to include with another gift. Either way I know she will love it especially since you made it just for her. I hope you enjoy this simple tutorial of a time gone by and oh so treasured millinery pin. Happy Birthday Sweet Pea…

Apr 23, 2009

We are celebrating a big birthday today. Terri turns 21 years old. I first saw this altered cupcake box on Ranjini’s blog many many months ago. She found the cupcake box at Tuesday Morning. I immediately ran to ours to see if they had some and I got lucky. They had two left which I immediately grabbed as I knew I would be using them as money holders for Terri’s 21st and Ansley’s Sweet 16 next year. The box is quite plain but has such potential for altering. The candle is held on by a magnet although I attached mine to the top permanently. Below is what it looks like before a little vintage sheet music, book page flowers, pearls, lace and glitter have been added. Enjoy your day Terri. We love you...

A little Valentine Tutorial…

Jan 19, 2009

I guess you can tell I LOVE Maya Road. Seriously love everything Deb and Caroline make and the great thing about their products are they mix and match perfectly. I always look at their coaster albums and think they would make wonderful fabric patterns. Well needing a break from book projects yesterday I decided to use the bird pattern to create my own fabric embellishment. Talk about super EASY to make. Seriously easy. This is the first piece of fabric anything I have ever sewn. Yes I got the sewing machine to sew on paper. Anyway, I thought I would create a little tutorial thinking you might like to give this a try. Supplies Needed: 2-Ring Heart Binder (1 page) Sheer Heart Scallop Book (1 page) Heart Chipboard Book (1 page) Bird Chipboard Book...

Embellish the Embellishment…

Nov 12, 2008

I do this all the time… especially if what I am about to use already has glitter such as these cute little bells. It seems they never put enough glitter on them so I dip a paint brush into some Elmer’s School Glue no run Gel, brush it on the bells, then sprinkle more glitter on top. Once the glue is dry I take my Platinum Stickles and go all around the edge. I feel this gives it that true vintage look. Then I put a drop of hot glue from my glue gun in the center of each bell and add tiny jingle bell to each one. Now you have a perfectly embellished...
