Just 4u

Jun 7, 2011

I really like the warm color scheme of this card. The combination of the red and cream is so pretty. Of course the pops of Diamond Stickles here and there are awesome too. I covered the bottom two journaling cards with patterned paper and left the top one “Just 4u” as is, then distressed and inked the edges and attached it to the middle circle using a pop dot. I think the October Afternoon Word Sticker strips work great as the tones match the tones of the red and cream perfectly. The strips add interest and color to the card in a super simple way. Products used are from the June Cocoa Daisy “Cherry Soda” Main Kit and “Chocolate Malt” Add On Kit. I have a few kits left over from my “Quilted Memories”...

Paper Medallions…

Dec 7, 2010

Well since yesterday, I showed you my favorite Crepe Paper and Glitter artist, today, I decided to show you my favorite Paper Medallion Artist… who just so happens to love Crepe Paper too. Gosh how fun would it be to sit at a table with these two and create… I would LOVE that! Maybe someday… here is to wishing! Saturday, while co-teaching the snow globe project with Trisha, Ann-Denise Anderson of Whim & Fancy Designs was teaching in the next room. I’ve loved her work for such a long time. Ann-Denise has been featured in several issues of Somerset magazine and since the moment I laid eyes on her work I’ve hoped to meet her. Our paths just never seemed to cross at the same time so you can imagine my excitement when I...

Creative Fun…

Dec 5, 2010

Saturday, Trisha Conlon and I got to spend the day with this wonderful group of artists at “The Crafty Scrapper”. Each one created their very own snow globe. I taught the paper part of the project which included altering the base of the snow globe, building the little house, creating a crepe paper rosette and then of course sprinkling everything with glitter and mica. It was so fun watching everyone’s project come together. Each little house was the same yet so different as everyone used different parts of their Melissa Frances patterned paper. Once everyone finished their sweet little house they then began to add everything to the altered base of the snow globe. Once everyone go to this point we all took a break for lunch, which came from “The Dove’s Nest”, next...

What a fun day…

Nov 20, 2010

Today, I taught my “Home for the Holidays” class at The Crafty Scrapper to a super sweet group of ladies. That store is my happy place without a doubt!!! I think it is the best store in the area. Carolyn has the best customers and the best product selection around not to mention the sweetest staff. If you haven’t visited her store you need to… it is worth the drive. You will love it. See the little sweetie in yellow… it was her 14th birthday. Her grandmother purchased my class as a gift for her. Happy Birthday, Gracie! I hope it was a wonderful day. Wishing you all the best and hope to see you again soon. Each kit included three different house templates and lots of fun little goodies to use to decorate....

Fun project for any age…

Nov 16, 2010

This paper snowflake ornament will certainly keep kids of all ages entertained while waiting for their Thanksgiving meal. All you need are a few supplies and they should be busy for at least an hour and hopefully longer. The younger kids can punch the pieces needed, the older kids can fold them into shape then together they can attach and glitter everything to create the ornament. I think some made out of red and green solid cardstock or the adorable Tinsel & Twig collection by The Girls’ Paperie would look awesome. Supplies Needed: White Cardstock, Maya Road Iridescent Glitter, Maya Road Chipboard Snowflakes, Maya Road Pure White Ink, Rhinestones, Diamond Stickles, Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue Tools Needed: Fiskars Extra Large Square-a-Licious (scallop square) Punch, Fiskars Extra Large Seal of Approval (scallop round) Punch,...

No Stress Just Work…

Oct 24, 2010

This will be my new motto told to me by a sweet friend for the next six months as I will begin working on my SECOND book tomorrow. I am so happy I have been given the chance to work with F & W Media once again. My new book will be technique based just as “Delight In The Details” but it will have step outs on how to recreate not only the techniques but ALSO some of the projects. So excited about this new twist. My first deadline is November 26th so i will be somewhat of a hermit over the next month as these projects will be for the cover and I want them over the top wonderful. Not sure if I can tell you the theme of the book just yet...

New found love….

May 18, 2010

Saturday I took two soldering classes (101 and 201) at The Crafty Scrapper from the super talented Trisha Conlon. I am now addicted and have so many ideas swimming around in my head. So I thought I would show you the charms I made in her classes and then some that I made here at home. These were made in class 101. The flower one was learning the chunky technique and the other two were just standard straight line soldering. Actually the chunky is taught in 201 but she kinda slid that technique in for me. These were made in the 201 class. She taught us how to cut glass and do the chunky technique. We made the collage in 101. I added the vintage rhinestone buttons when I got home. The blob that...

I love small houses…

May 11, 2010

I could create an entire village out of this old fashioned putz style house. Really, there are so many wonderful ways to decorate this sweet little house. I have other patterns in my head to create as well but I wanted something simple this go around. I like the simplicity of the black paint against the old book page. Also the accented star… it’s a Texas thing in gold German glass glitter really adds a nice pop of color to the front. Oh and don’t forget the crystal coarse glitter, it adds the perfect amount of sparkle. Tips, Techniques and Tutorials I have been super busy creating some new technique classes to teach at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. My “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” Technique Class will be taught June 12th at...

Just have to show you…

Apr 2, 2010

So this evening Alan and I found out my book “Delight In The Details” was in stock at Barnes & Noble at Stonebriar Mall here in Frisco. Yes we raced over to see it and noticed they only had one left on the shelf. So far the only other place I have been able to see my book in person is The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, Texas. I must say it does feel strange walking in and seeing it sitting on a shelf. Although it is a good strange and certainly makes me smile. Remember, I have this RAK giveaway going on. If you want to participate send me a photo of my book in a store near you… you do not have to be in the photo if you don’t want to. Just...
