Need a crown, of course you do!!!

Mar 18, 2015

Saturday, I was at The Crafty Scrapper attending a birthday crop for my super sweet & awesome friend Trisha Perkins. At her party, she had Cheryl Darrow of Ten Seconds Studio come and instruct everyone on how to make leather crowns. This was WAY WAY WAY out of my comfort zone as I’m a vintage paper kinda girl and there was zero vintage paper to be found here, but let me tell you I now have a new addiction. Working with emboss-able leather is so fun and if you ever have the chance to take one of Cheryl’s crown classes do it, you will LOVE it! Cheryl brought her tools  and molds for the non-doodle calligraphy girls in the class, which as you can see I was one of those girls. Once everyone had their leather pieces embossed...

UTEE, Resin & Sculpey Clay Charms

Oct 30, 2012

I’ve had so much fun this past week experimenting with UTEE, Resin and Sculpey Clay. At the moment it’s a charm paradise in my craftroom. The acorn charm is made from UTEE. I hunted all over my backyard for the perfectly shaped acorn so I could make a mold of it. I found one and think this charm came out so cute. The top of the acorn is the actual acorn top I glittered and attached to the UTEE acorn. I covered the entire acorn with a thin layer of resin. The bird charm is created out of Sculpey Clay, embossed with a Melt Art Texture Tread, painted and covered with a thin layer of resin. The always be amazing charm is created using Sculpey Clay, resin paper butterflies, glass glitter and topped with...

The Traveling Apron

Apr 25, 2012

The wonderful journey of my much loved apron has now begun. Saturday, it debuted at The Crafty Scrapper and now will travel to all the places this industry takes me. It’s next stop is New York City (LOL, typing New York City always makes me think of the Pace Picante Sauce commercials) then on to Ranger University in NJ. Carolyn and I leave tomorrow and we are beyond excited! Last year, my travels were haulted rather quickly due to terrible weather… all flights to NJ and surrounding areas were cancelled and I had to go home. I know there are worse things in life to have happen but I really was so sad and I’m super glad I was given the opportunity to attend this year. It’s going to be three days filled with nothing but...

What a day…

Apr 23, 2012

Carolyn with her finished canvas Saturday, I had a wonderful time with a great group of ladies at The Crafty Scrapper. These ladies were all finding courage to try new techniques. Some needed more courage than others but each jumped right in and embraced their creative journey. No names will be given but some had never done any type of mixed media class and let’s just say this class was pretty advanced and I was SO PROUD of her when her canvas was completed. Some feared the thought of freehand painting well maybe more than some actually, maybe quite a few but they ALL did it and they ALL looked amazing. And one in class I discovered did not like getting her hands dirty. LOL, as long as I have known this lovely person...

What a wonderful weekend…

Feb 27, 2012

Friday night was so much fun. I still cannot believe I was sitting at the table signing two books I created and wrote. Crazy I tell ya. Just goes to show , if you just keep working and moving forward, as the days add up it is amazing where you will end. Carolyn’s store, The Crafty Scrapper is such a happy place. Her employees are all so wonderful, her endless supply of amazing product is mind blowing and well Carolyn is pretty wonderful herself. Her son Denton is such a sweetheart. He gave me  flowers that were sprayed with a light dusting of glitter. How sweet was that! He can do no wrong in my eyes. I love that little boy something fierce. Caroline even drove down to be there which was really appreciated....

Ornamental Christmas PDF

Nov 23, 2011

Many of you asked if I planned to offer the “Christmas Wishes” and “Vintage Ornament Trio” classes I taught at The Crafty Scrapper as an online workshop. Well the answer is yes, but I did something a bit different this year. Instead of an online workshop where I post something each day like I usually do I (well let me clarify, Alan) created PDF’s for you to download. I took additional photos and added additional instructions to the PDF’s so it will make it easier to recreate the projects, since I’m not actually standing in front of you giving you all the instructions. Click the badge on the left to go to “Ornamental Christmas” on my “Workshops” page. The PDF downloads include step by step instructions, color photos, complete supply lists for both incorporated...

Artistic Journey Recap…

Oct 4, 2011

What an awesome weekend! I was so lucky to get to create with so many wonderfully creative and inspiring ladies. Weeks before the event began Caroline and Carolyn put out a challenge to those attending Artistic Journey to create a tag telling three things about themselves. Once they finished they then sent the tags to Carolyn so she could create a wonderful window display. These are just a few of the tags sent.  I love how each one captures their personality. Awesome job ladies. Friday night, during our meet and greet each attendee was given a canvas apron to alter any way they wanted…. Carolyn and Caroline had stations set up all over The Crafty Scrapper with lots of trims, embellishments etc. for them to use. It was so fun seeing how different everyone’s...

Art Parts

Jul 16, 2011

While I was at the Great American Scrapbooking Convention in Arlington, this past June, I got to see my friend Wendy Vecchi. She surprised me and gave me one of her new Art Parts pieces and told me I could create anything I wanted. I was so excited and had so many ideas running through my head it took me awhile to decide what to do but this is the idea that made it to the canvas. Carolyn, at The Crafty Scrapper and I are working on coming up with a date to teach this project at her store. It’s super fun to make. I have a few Maya Road new release items included in this project too, their “Wooden Vintage Snowflakes” and “Vintage Findings Raspberry Beads”. Today, is all about washing, packing and...

This year, I’ll be teaching along with Dina Wakley and Shelley Haganman. I’ve been on the Maya Road Design Team with Shelley for years and we’ve never met in person so it’s going to be awesome to finally meet. Dina and I usually see each other for a bit at CHA which is always nice. During Artistic Journey each teacher will teach a class that represents our style so you’ll get to create three super cool and very different projects over the weekend. Also, you’ll make an awesome project during the meet and greet the first night of the event. And I must give a...
