I am leaning heavily towards mixed media right now which is so fun. It’s exciting to explore creatively as you...

Winter Magpie

Nov 29, 2010

If you are wondering what this title means well it means loads of creative fun as “Winter Magpie” is the name of the December kit at Cocoa Daisy. I am so lucky as I got to play with this kit because I am their December Guest Designer. When Christine asked me I was thrilled. Then as she was telling me about all the wonderful products she incorporated in the kit I felt it was so ME and could not wait to start creating. Her kits are always gorgeous and so inspiring. Here are the projects I created using this kit… 2 layouts, a card and a gift card holder. Memory Jar and a winner…

Oct 6, 2010

While in Mykonos I collected simple items I could use to fill a memory jar of my trip. This old sugar dispenser contains lots of wonderful memories. I picked the sugar dispenser because it reminded me of the columns I saw while touring Delos. I painted the metal top blue to remind me of all the blue on the houses and buildings. Then along the bottom of the jar I typed 2010 — Cocoa Daisy Destination — Mykonos on vintage paper to document the year and name of the event. I tied blue and white seam binding around the top of the container to remind me of all the gorgeous white buildings with blue accents. I then tied some red and white baker’s twine around it as there is always a little pop of...

I have a paper secret…

Sep 29, 2010

But I have to share. I just cannot keep this one a secret. While participating at the Cocoa Daisy Destination ~ Mykonos event I stumbled upon this gorgeous vintage paper line. And since I LOVE Christmas and anything with old Santa images well… you can only imagine my excitement. The designer is Gudrun Loennecken. She lives in Norway and is super talented. Gudrun did an adorable make n take with her papers one evening in Mykonos. Everyone loved her designs. The one shown below is Gudrun’s Christmas 2010 line and I cannot wait to start my Christmas album. Front view… love that little girl and the Santa images. Back view… the paper with the postcard images is incredible. Isn’t this little girl so cute among all the hearts and holly. Then you can only...

Cocoa Daisy Destination ~ Mykonos

Sep 28, 2010

This past week was spent with a wonderful group of ladies (as well as a few husbands) from all over the world and a group of teachers (Ali Edwards, Jenni Bowlin and Karen Russell) who I have admired for a very long time. I still cannot believe I was lucky enough to be a part of it all. Tricia and Elina did such a great job selecting the accommodations, the food for our breakfast and dinner each day, the cocktails each evening as well as having a cooking class and Greek dance lessons at the hotel. Each night was a special dinner out at a restaurant with either Ali Edwards or the Daisy Instructors, a lunch with Jenni Bowlin or a tour with Karen Russell. There was a tour provided to see the ancient...

You can find out how here. I had the pleasure of being on the Cocoa Daisy DT for several years with Linda. Linda is full of life, loves her family and says some of the funniest things I have ever heard. I swear she can make you laugh so hard you cry and I truly believe her love of life and family as well as her humor is what helped her get to where she is now. Linda beat some terrible odds that were stacked against her and I am so thankful. Linda is loved deeply by many and I am so glad to be a part of this...

Velvet Flower Tutorial…

Jun 2, 2009

Here is the wall hanging I created with scraps kept from my Cocoa Daisy June Kit. I provided Tricia with a PDF of all the templates I created in this piece. If you are a subscriber she will have this available for download. The mini velvet flowers in this piece are super simple to create. All you need is scallop velvet trim (provided in the June Kit) , scissors, a sewing needle, 3 strands of embroidery floss, adhesive and a rhinestone. Cut the trim so you have 9 scallops (approximately 3.25″) thread 3 strands of embroidery floss into a sewing needle and begin gathering at one end. Continue to gather the trim along the sewing needle all the way to the opposite end of the trim Pull the embroidery floss together tightly until you have...

Cocoa Daisy Layouts…

Jun 1, 2009

I finally get to share the layouts I created using this months kit by Cocoa Daisy. As you can see the June Kit and the Add On Kit are very versatile. It was loads of fun playing the Daisy Divas once again. I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to darken the Eyelet Cardstock. Traced a dinner plate to create the circle out of patterned paper, cut out leaves and butterflies from a piece of Webster’s Pages patterned paper using a craft knife, attached Maya Road green pom pom trim around the edge, created a scallop border using scallop scissors and a paper piercer, accented the horizontal strip with self adhesive pearls then used my sewing machine to add additional texture by sewing a straight stitch along the circle and horizontal strip. I wanted this layout...
