ScrapFest Recap

Sep 21, 2011

Traveling to different places to teach is always so much fun but being home and in your own bed is awesome. Last night, I slept so hard I don’t think I even moved in my sleep. ScrapFest was awesome, incredible, amazing and inspiring. I would do it all over again tomorrow, if I could. I had a blast teaching all 6 of the Maya Road classes. Every one who came to class was so upbeat and excited. It was so fun getting to chat with so many creative people from all over the country. I really enjoyed being in MN. The people are so nice and getting away from the Texas heat was awesome. I have so many photos I want to share that I took during the event so I decided to create a collage....

Vintage Finds for Classes…

Sep 13, 2011

While Alan and I were down surprising my nephew this past weekend, I did some junking and antiquing with mom and dad. I found some awesome items to incorporate in my classes such as aluminum jello molds, milk bottle caps, sheet music, milk glass, vintage trims, lace, doilies and the best find of the day were these adorable vintage ceramic angels. They were made in Japan and are numbered. I cannot wait to get home from ScrapFest next week and begin working on some class samples to teach at The Crafty Scrapper. I was able to purchase 24 of these little cuties in pink and blue so the class will be limited. If you are interested you best sign up as soon as sign ups are available because there will not be another class...

Artistic Journey 2011

Jun 21, 2011

Here is a little sneak peek of the project I’ll be teaching at Artistic Journey in October. I’m so looking forward to this event as last year was a blast. This year, I’ll be teaching along with Dina Wakley and Shelley Haganman. I’ve been on the Maya Road Design Team with Shelley for years and we’ve never met in person so it’s going to be awesome to finally meet. Dina and I usually see each other for a bit at CHA which is always nice. During Artistic Journey each teacher will teach a class that represents our style so you’ll get to create three super cool and very different projects over the weekend. Also, you’ll make an awesome project during the meet and greet the first night of the event. And I must give a...

Paper Cowgirl Weekend…

Jun 13, 2011

Oh my goodness I don’t even know where to start but I think the beginning is best. Warning, this is a novel of a blog post. I had an incredible weekend with lots of super fun ladies. I tell ya all were happy, super inspiring and all extremely nice. Now we all know getting a group of 100 women together with that kind of result is something… just keeping it honest and real. Thursday evening started off with a meet and greet, friendship token swap and then all the other incredible swaps. It was a blast and my name badge is filled with lots of super fun friendship tokens. After the meet and greet Cindy Mayfield our host introduced all the teachers. There were some incredible teachers at this event and all kinds of...

Just 4u

Jun 7, 2011

I really like the warm color scheme of this card. The combination of the red and cream is so pretty. Of course the pops of Diamond Stickles here and there are awesome too. I covered the bottom two journaling cards with patterned paper and left the top one “Just 4u” as is, then distressed and inked the edges and attached it to the middle circle using a pop dot. I think the October Afternoon Word Sticker strips work great as the tones match the tones of the red and cream perfectly. The strips add interest and color to the card in a super simple way. Products used are from the June Cocoa Daisy “Cherry Soda” Main Kit and “Chocolate Malt” Add On Kit. I have a few kits left over from my “Quilted Memories”...

Remember Today…

Jun 6, 2011

Actually I wish the cardstock sticker said “weekend” as it was such a fun one. Friday night, I taught my “Quilted Memories” class at The Crafty Scrapper. I left a few kits with Carolyn if you would like one. Just give her a call at the store: 972-923-3151. My friend Lisa E. joined me at the store which is always fun. We’ve been friends going on 11 years. She is my scrapping buddy. I had some super fun ladies in class and hope to see them again soon because we sure did laugh a lot. After the class was finished Lisa and I stayed and laughed with Carolyn (the owner). The girl cracks me up and is always entertaining. Saturday, Lisa E. and I went to GASC in Arlington to see Carolyn’s awesome booth....

Ice Cream & Snow Cone Money Holder

Jun 3, 2011

What a fun way to save all the change us moms find in the washer and dryer when doing the family laundry. This little box can hold the discovered nickels, pennies, dimes and occasional dollar bills found for fun summer treats from the Ice Cream Man or in our town the Snow Cone Lady. The patterned paper, alphas, paint and ink used to create this project are from the Cocoa Daisy “Cherry Soda” June Main Kit, “Fruit Smoothie“, “Chocolate Malt” and “June Coordinating Paint and Ink” Add On Kits. This evening, I’ll be teaching my “Quilted Memories” class at The Crafty Scrapper. If you’re signed up for the class please check her web site for the list of supplies you need to bring. Those of you that are in town visiting for GASC should come...

Leaving on a jet plane…

Apr 28, 2011

I’m heading to Ranger U today and cannot wait to play all weekend with a group of friends I’ve never met, yet feel like I already know.  We have been emailing and planning for weeks. New Jersey just might not ever be the same again once we hit the streets. So while I’m gone I thought I would give you all a little something to create this weekend. “You R 2 Tweet” is now a free online workshop. I hope you have fun creating the mini banner. This is a class I taught at CHA when my book debuted at CHA-W 2010. You can use my book “Delight In The Details” to reference the techniques used in this project. The page numbers are included in the instructions. To gain access to the workshop click...

That HUGE sigh…

Mar 15, 2011

of relief you just heard came from me. I just completed my second book deadline and let me just say, it was a humdinger, but I have 45 projects completed. I’m so glad this one is behind me and everything has either been emailed or shipped. I leave for Cincinnati in a few weeks to photograph all the step by step photos for each featured technique. It will be a week of photographing during the day and writing at night but I can finally start to see the book coming together and cannot wait for it to hit the shelves. I do believe you all are going to love this book. I’m already in love with it. So after a weekend of writing for 20 hours starting Friday evening and ending Saturday then packing...

Pieces of Time

Feb 21, 2011

I am so looking forward to the Paper Cowgirl Retreat coming June 9th – 11th. Paper Cowgirl is a retreat held every June in Waxahachie, Texas. You will find classes such as altered art, painting, soldering and more. This retreat even has a vendor craft show that I hear is really nice and filled with lots of wonderful items for purchase. This year, I will be the guest speaker. I’m always excited to help those who wish to break into the world of publication. So my speech “Artist to Author” will hopefully encourage and inspire many to jump out of their comfort zone and give their dream of being published a go. I created an altered shadow box to teach exclusively at Paper Cowgirl. The altered project is titled “Pieces of Time” and each...

Make Art!

Jan 4, 2011

I love these two little words. I have a wonderful cheerleader for a friend. She always sends me email filled with words like you can do it yes you can… I know you can… etc. She is the best and SHE is SUPER TALENTED too. She LOVES flowers and always signs her blog posts with “make art!” I love that. Late last night while I was looking at her blog I thought I would make her a little something to give to her at CHA. I soldered this flower pin several months ago and it’s been sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Actually, I have lots of stuff sitting on my shelves collecting dust. So I’ve decided to start sharing them with friends and family as well as in class participants. My sweet friend...

2010 in Review…

Dec 31, 2010

2010 sure was a super fast paced year. I have so many wonderful moments and events to reflect upon. I am so grateful for you my blog readers as you are some of the most loyal and uplifting people. I always look forward to your replies and when needed your words of encouragement. I am so grateful I have the opportunity to work with so many wonderful manufacturers in the scrapbooking industry. I am very fortunate to be able to teach at an awesome scrapbook store in Waxahachie, Texas, “The Crafty Scrapper.” Some neat class ideas have been swirling in my head for the new year and I cannot wait to share them with Carolyn. I am leaning heavily towards mixed media right now which is so fun. It’s exciting to explore creatively as you...

Paper Medallions…

Dec 7, 2010

Well since yesterday, I showed you my favorite Crepe Paper and Glitter artist, today, I decided to show you my favorite Paper Medallion Artist… who just so happens to love Crepe Paper too. Gosh how fun would it be to sit at a table with these two and create… I would LOVE that! Maybe someday… here is to wishing! Saturday, while co-teaching the snow globe project with Trisha, Ann-Denise Anderson of Whim & Fancy Designs was teaching in the next room. I’ve loved her work for such a long time. Ann-Denise has been featured in several issues of Somerset magazine and since the moment I laid eyes on her work I’ve hoped to meet her. Our paths just never seemed to cross at the same time so you can imagine my excitement when I...

What a fun day…

Nov 20, 2010

Today, I taught my “Home for the Holidays” class at The Crafty Scrapper to a super sweet group of ladies. That store is my happy place without a doubt!!! I think it is the best store in the area. Carolyn has the best customers and the best product selection around not to mention the sweetest staff. If you haven’t visited her store you need to… it is worth the drive. You will love it. See the little sweetie in yellow… it was her 14th birthday. Her grandmother purchased my class as a gift for her. Happy Birthday, Gracie! I hope it was a wonderful day. Wishing you all the best and hope to see you again soon. Each kit included three different house templates and lots of fun little goodies to use to decorate....

No Stress Just Work…

Oct 24, 2010

This will be my new motto told to me by a sweet friend for the next six months as I will begin working on my SECOND book tomorrow. I am so happy I have been given the chance to work with F & W Media once again. My new book will be technique based just as “Delight In The Details” but it will have step outs on how to recreate not only the techniques but ALSO some of the projects. So excited about this new twist. My first deadline is November 26th so i will be somewhat of a hermit over the next month as these projects will be for the cover and I want them over the top wonderful. Not sure if I can tell you the theme of the book just yet...
