Need a crown, of course you do!!!

Mar 18, 2015

Saturday, I was at The Crafty Scrapper attending a birthday crop for my super sweet & awesome friend Trisha Perkins. At her party, she had Cheryl Darrow of Ten Seconds Studio come and instruct everyone on how to make leather crowns. This was WAY WAY WAY out of my comfort zone as I’m a vintage paper kinda girl and there was zero vintage paper to be found here, but let me tell you I now have a new addiction. Working with emboss-able leather is so fun and if you ever have the chance to take one of Cheryl’s crown classes do it, you will LOVE it! Cheryl brought her tools  and molds for the non-doodle calligraphy girls in the class, which as you can see I was one of those girls. Once everyone had their leather pieces embossed...

I find it so fun to give everyone the same supplies and products and in the end seeing how everyone’s projects turn out so differently. I’m truly blessed to get to teach art classes in some of the most incredible places in the USA and abroad and to some of the most genuine down to earth people. There is not a class that I’ve taught that I haven’t thought of my 4th grade art teacher Mrs. Gibbs. She taught at Amelia Elementary in Beaumont, Texas. Mrs. Gibbs gave me the freedom to just create whatever I wished and I will love her forever for...

Send Your Kid to Art Camp

Jul 18, 2013

This week my nieces Madelyn and Bellie are attending “Art Camp”, at the Beaumont Art League. Each day is split into two sessions, Paper Mache and Drawing. Madelyn has always loved to color and paint and Bellie has loved drawing since she was old enough to hold a pencil. I guess you can say my family is certainly of the artistic side. Really we are, if we had to walk into a calculus or physics class we would all look at each other and the professor with the blankest set of eyes he/she has ever seen. But if you are talking painting, carving, crocheting, sewing, papercrafts, mixed media, assemblage, cross stitch, pastel drawing, sketching and so on… we could instruct our own college courses about any of these. This we know well. Mom can draw...

Creative Weekend at Rocky Mountain Memories

May 1, 2013

Friday afternoon, I taught the Afternoon Tea class, which was loads of fun. Everyone created a mini album and cuff. The one thing I truly love about teaching is even though everyone has the same supplies and products, no two finished projects ever look the same. Each person incorporates their own little flare and style to their pieces. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do and being able to teach at such a wonderfully awesome store with super friendly people makes it even more fun. In the “Afternoon Tea” class everyone was hand stitching, stamping, stenciling, inking, painting, gluing and metal stamping. And in all the excitement I completely forgot to get photos of their finished projects. Such a bummer as each mini album and cuff were gorgeous and so unique. There...

Estes Park

Apr 30, 2013

Friday, morning I jumped out of bed just as I did as a child Christmas morning. I was so excited to get to wander around town with Ronda before my Afternoon Tea class, because well, you all know laughter follows us where ever we go. Before walking out of my room I had to take a peek out the bedroom window and this is what I saw… a perfect sunny, blue sky Colorado morning. Talk about making me really get a jump start on my Texas makeover. But before getting ready, I quickly got side tracked watching birds and the cutest little chipmunk stuff his cheeks full of bird seeds. They were just outside this window singing and scurrying about. The chipmunk was super busy filling his cheeks with bird seeds, running off to...

UTEE, Resin & Sculpey Clay Charms

Oct 30, 2012

I’ve had so much fun this past week experimenting with UTEE, Resin and Sculpey Clay. At the moment it’s a charm paradise in my craftroom. The acorn charm is made from UTEE. I hunted all over my backyard for the perfectly shaped acorn so I could make a mold of it. I found one and think this charm came out so cute. The top of the acorn is the actual acorn top I glittered and attached to the UTEE acorn. I covered the entire acorn with a thin layer of resin. The bird charm is created out of Sculpey Clay, embossed with a Melt Art Texture Tread, painted and covered with a thin layer of resin. The always be amazing charm is created using Sculpey Clay, resin paper butterflies, glass glitter and topped with...
