Simple Father Christmas Charm

Dec 10, 2010

This has to be the simplest charm I have ever created. Red Lead PaperWorks sent this charm to me a while back, as in last year sometime. It was a surprise added in with some goodies I had purchased. Well I have been holding on to it waiting for time to just play. Last night, was finally that time and talk about fun and fast. This took me from start to finish (excluding drying time) 5 minutes to make. I think it will be cute as a decorative accent on a gift then the recipient can place it on a bracelet or necklace to enjoy. Supplies Used: Charm from Red Lead Paperworks Circle, Oval, Vintage Image from Laura’s Garden, Self Adhesive 2mm Cream Pearls, 2 – Jump Rings, 3 – 6mm Gold Jingle Bells,...

Oh my STARS…

Dec 6, 2010

While surfing the net the other day I came upon this gorgeous tree created by Karen Aguirre at Creative Chaos. Needless to say my jaw dropped as you all know how I love CREPE PAPER and GLITTER!!! Karen’s trees are so incredibly adorable. What I should be doing is working on book projects but NO someone had to make an incredible piece of art and then felt the need to share her creativity with everyone, so now all I can think about making are these wonderful Crepe Paper Christmas Trees. Talk about the enabler. But all kidding aside I think her trees are absolute perfection and how could they not when created with crepe paper ruffles, glitter and tinsel then accented using glittery berries, a star and the sweetest banner. I could fill our...

If you are wondering what this title means well it means loads of creative fun as “Winter Magpie” is the name of the December kit at Cocoa Daisy. I am so lucky as I got to play with this kit because I am their December Guest Designer. When Christine asked me I was thrilled. Then as she was telling me about all the wonderful products she incorporated in the kit I felt it was so ME and could not wait to start creating. Her kits are always gorgeous and so inspiring. Here are the projects I created using this kit… 2 layouts, a card and a gift card holder. I had product left over to create more items but these will be in my book (yes Cocoa Daisy is once again one of my...

What a busy week…

Nov 24, 2010

I hope you all are getting ready to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. We will be having a very slow paced day tomorrow. This year we are staying put as we decided to do our traveling to see family for Christmas. I must admit it will be nice to just relax and not worry about entertaining or traveling. This Thanksgiving I am getting off so easy… all Ansley requested is “Stove Top” stuffing and a pumpkin pie!!! Can you believe that… Ansley is not a big turkey eater and Alan doesn’t want me to go to all the trouble of cooking for just us three. So they got major brownie points with me this Thanksgiving. I’m thinking a big pot of stew or chili will be great to eat while...

I have a paper secret…

Sep 29, 2010

But I have to share. I just cannot keep this one a secret. While participating at the Cocoa Daisy Destination ~ Mykonos event I stumbled upon this gorgeous vintage paper line. And since I LOVE Christmas and anything with old Santa images well… you can only imagine my excitement. The designer is Gudrun Loennecken. She lives in Norway and is super talented. Gudrun did an adorable make n take with her papers one evening in Mykonos. Everyone loved her designs. The one shown below is Gudrun’s Christmas 2010 line and I cannot wait to start my Christmas album. Front view… love that little girl and the Santa images. Back view… the paper with the postcard images is incredible. Isn’t this little girl so cute among all the hearts and holly. Then you can only...

These things make me smile…

Aug 19, 2010

I thought I would show you a few more things from around my scraproom. I just love old and new mixed together… although what I am going to be showing is mostly old… also, I find it fun to decorate my scraproom with items I have found with other people while digging in antique stores or thrift shops… makes me think of them a lot when I use the products I have stored in dishes etc. I have used these two candle holders for years to fill with candy hearts for Valentines Day or snow for Christmas but now they will be filled with vintage buttons of every kind. Oh how these make me happy sitting right on my worktable at arms reach. I always think of me and dad scooping out and counting ...

I spy…

Aug 6, 2010

a really messy bar and kitchen table. The bar is loaded with lots of fun things I purchased while in Maine and West Virginia and the kitchen table is filled with stuff I have been using this week. You too can have this mess if your scraproom is so out of control you need to ask your neighbor to help you come organize…. next week hopefully all that you see will fit into my scraproom. Pray for me that Jennifer does not leave the second she sees what I have done. You will spy with your little eyes vintage milk bottle caps (for my future Christmas online workshop), German glass glitter, bag full of vintage tinsel and aluminum garland (more items for an online workshop), old bottles to be cleaned and filled with vintage...

It’s a miracle…

Jan 7, 2010

Most of you know I have a serious time getting my Christmas tree taken down and put back up in the attic before spring and the layout below which I created a while back is proof. Well yesterday was an all time first. I actually got all the holiday decorations boxed up, the tree taken down AND put back into the attic. Seriously, I am so proud of myself as this was a true accomplishment. And needing to finish up CHA projects is a HUGE motivator. This girl is behind and needs to kick it in gear big time. I have so many little things that turn into slightly bigger things to take care of before the show. One thing is getting book projects (layouts, cards and tags) into 4 – American Crafts Modern...

I have wonderful blog readers…

Dec 23, 2009

First I must say WOW… thank you all so much for all the wonderful comments and emails you have sent me regarding this post. I have decided to keep it real on my blog this year. I certainly do not want to give the false impression that everyday is a holiday for me. Most days are really great don’t get me wrong. But I think we woman sometimes get caught in a trap and feel it sets us up for unrealistic expectations on ourselves when we read that everything is always peachy or things always seem so perfect at all times on other blogs. Really life is not that way and I certainly do not want to portray that mine is. Yes I do have so many things to be thankful for and I...

Acceptance my word for 2010

Dec 18, 2009

I have been thinking a lot lately about what word I plan to really embrace for myself this year. After a lot of thought and reading these two blog posts Katie’s and Karen’s I can really relate to some of what they are saying. I decided my word needs to be acceptance. I have a very hard time being happy with anything I create or do. I always feel I can or need to be better. This issue involves my art, family life etc. It carries over into everything. I have always had a hard time living just in the moment. I have a very type A personality and suffer from panic attacks that at times can be paralyzing. I worry about everything… am I a good mom, wife, artist, daughter, aunt, friend etc....

Silver Foil Cupcake Liner Flower

Dec 13, 2009

Here is a super simple flower you can create using silver foil cupcake liners. I think this would make a wonderful flower/bow attached to a gift bag or present, or create several and place them as a decoration on the branches of your Christmas tree. You could create a garland buy attaching them to string or baker’s twine to hang in a window or drape along a mantel. You could even create ornaments to hang on your tree or place them in a wreath… I could go on and on with ideas for this simple flower. To create one flower all you need are three silver foil cupcake liners, one gold jingle bell, scissors and glue dots. Cut three foil cupcake liners as I did here… just don’t cut the hole in the center...

Place glossy accents onto the back of a Fragments Charm and attach to stamped image. Using Alcohol Ink, ink the top of the Fragments Charm, accent the Fragments Charm with Distress Stickles, let dry. 12 Day Advent Pocket Calendar Pocket #11

Nov 11, 2009

For the next several weeks I will be posting 12 altered pockets that when finished and put together will create a 12 Day Advent Pocket Style Calendar. I hope you decide to play along as you too will end up with an adorable calendar. This project is still in the works and is an idea I have so I will not have a complete supply list for you a head of time, just supplies used for that days pocket. I like to try to create something each day and think this will be a fun project to have in the works. I already stamped my images and accented my Fragments Charms so which ever charm pocket I feel like working on and finishing that day is the one you will see the next. It...
