Show Day 3

Jul 30, 2010

This one is a day late but by the time we finished breaking down the booth and eating dinner it was late and I was pooped. As you can see my day started out as usual at the make-n-take booth. People loved learning how to make medallion flowers. They loved it so much so that I taught 100 people how to make them. That is a lot of making and taking in 5  hours. Right before the show started I went to another one of my favorite manufacturers… Crafty Secrets.  They have some adorable items coming out. You will notice several projects using my friend Vicki Chrisman’s 3D shadow box frame dies and they are super cute. Their booth is filled with loads of vintage goodness. Notice the 3D Shadow Box Frame above… I...

Pre CHA day 1

Jul 25, 2010

Started my day playing with this little cutie Miss Olivia. After breakfast we headed to the convention center to start putting the booth together. The blank area you see will soon be filled with lots of Maya Road goodness.  This is Laura and Aubrey working on the walls. Once it gets past the second row I am vertically challenged. Here is Laura and David with a little organized chaos going on. It is always such an accomplished feeling once we get the walls all set up. Here is some serious organized chaos.  The ribbon wall is plain torture for me… thankfully, Caroline knows this and gives this task to someone else… Laura. I have no idea how she manages to complete this task. If it were up to me to get it done CHA would be over and you...

Two weeks and 13 states later…

Jul 23, 2010

I am home and just in time to turn around and head to CHA tomorrow morning. I had a wonderful time with my mom and dad driving up to see my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and my Grandfather. It was a lot of driving but so worth seeing everyone. Here is a quick recap of my last two weeks… Visited my mom’s (Childers) side of the family in Buckhannon, WV. Had so much fun seeing everyone. Downtown Buckhannon has some adorable and super wonderful antique stores. They even have a scrapping/stamping store that I was so happy to be able to visit. I found lots of items to incorporate into projects for classes. This is what you see as you look down the hill from my aunt and uncle’s house. This is the old homestead...

Washing, Packing and a little Panicking…

Jan 20, 2010

Tomorrow I leave bright and early for CHA and I can’t wait to get on that plane as then all the preparations are out of my hands. It will be time to just roll with the flow and accept what comes my way. Oh I hope I can do this gracefully. So today is filled with washing and packing and praying everything fits in my suitcase. I always wonder what the xray guys think when they see my suitcase… hmm what in the world is this thing? I’m sure my “Crop-a-dile” really blows their minds. Then I have my big honkin Fiskar scallop and pinking scissors. Can you imagine being the guy xraying the suitcases and having no clue about all the different tools in the craft industry. I bet they really don’t like...

It’s a miracle…

Jan 7, 2010

Most of you know I have a serious time getting my Christmas tree taken down and put back up in the attic before spring and the layout below which I created a while back is proof. Well yesterday was an all time first. I actually got all the holiday decorations boxed up, the tree taken down AND put back into the attic. Seriously, I am so proud of myself as this was a true accomplishment. And needing to finish up CHA projects is a HUGE motivator. This girl is behind and needs to kick it in gear big time. I have so many little things that turn into slightly bigger things to take care of before the show. One thing is getting book projects (layouts, cards and tags) into 4 – American Crafts Modern...

CHA Workshop… hope to see you there!

Dec 11, 2009

I am thrilled to be able to teach a workshop at CHA this year. F & W Media asked me to create a project using techniques taught in my book “Delight In The Details” which will be released at the show. Of course I was thrilled to have been asked and certainly accepted the opportunity. I will only be teaching this workshop once and I kept it small… only 50 people as I really like to be able to interact with as many people one on one as possible. I will also share a few make n takes that you can easily recreate in your store. Just a little added bonus in the class. I will have instructions available via email in PDF form for those stores that are present. Below is a sneak...

A little bit of Lola love…

Jul 10, 2009

Dang this little Lola puppy is so sweet and so GOOD! Terri and Lola came to visit today so of course that meant a photo shoot. Here are a few of our favorites. I think she would look cute on a Jones Soda bottle. If you think so too please vote here, here or here. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Ansley leaves for camp tomorrow and I must admit I am kinda sad. I’m gonna miss her. But I have enough CHA projects to keep me busy as well as editing the manuscript for my book… so exciting to see some of it in print. It is all starting to come...

Happy July 4th everyone…

Jul 4, 2009

My daughter Terri and her fiance Laren are certainly starting the 4th off with a bang… and this is the reason why…. Terri and Laren are now the proud parents of a seven week old English Bulldog puppy named Lola. And let me just say Lola has everyone hopping. It seems all she wants to do is sleep in your arms and if not she lets you know it with a very loud cry. I received a phone call this morning at 3 a.m. from Terri letting me know how perfect and smart Lola is about going potty outside. Oh and FYI… Terri lives on the 4th floor. So she will be getting her exercise going up and down those stairs. Anyway, as I was talking to Terri I could hear Lola crying in...

I’m not sure who…

Jun 29, 2009

is having more fun running to the mailbox me or Madelyn. Here are the two cards she has sent me so far. I think they are so cute. Madelyn created these all by herself with scrapping supplies I gave her. Not too bad for a nearly six year old (she might be reading so if I say 5 well… you know how that goes) I love her butterflies… to me there is nothing cuter than kids art. I just love, love, love it. And then of course there are the hilarious topics of discussion. Today’s card made me laugh out loud. Buster is our dog and Zeus is her dog. Glad he was just sleeping and that she isn’t drinking hot chocolate considering it was over 100 in Beaumont a few days ago. The...

What a bad blogger I have been…

Feb 9, 2009

As soon as I got home from CHA I hit the ground running. No time to relax for a single second. I guess I will do a little run down of what has been going on in my little neck of the woods… 1st… CHA was a blast. Going with Maya Road is always so much fun. I did loads of make n takes, gave away fun stuff and got to chat with lots of wonderful people. 2nd… As soon as I got home I had to instantly start on a layout for Memory Makers. It is going to be included in an article in the July/August issue. I am not even going to tell you what it looks like as you will know it is mine the second you see it. It uses...

Maya Road has a Valentine’s Day release? If you didn’t you need to check out this cute little “Love Ticket” Singleton Stamp. I love that the words are seperate stamps too, so perfect for little sentiments on tiny tags. Then they have this adorable “Forever Postage” Singleton Stamp. I really love this trio… so perfect to accent your Valentine’s or candy wrappers. They also have this wonderful Maya Mist set of Red and Silver… gorgeous colors used separately or in combination. The “Love Keychain” set is so cute and has so many possibilities for projects… no favorite here as I love each one. And last but not least they have this really cute “Key Keychain” set. This set would also be cute as embellishments for a new home or car for those of you...

Getting back in the groove…

Dec 30, 2008

Today I have about as much energy as a slug. Getting back into the groove after all the hustle and bustle of last minute holiday preparations always seems to be hard for me. We open presents at our house on Christmas Eve. I love baking cookies all morning and afternoon, cooking the dinner and watching Ansley go nuts counting down the hours until we open presents.  It is all so much fun and seeing happy faces on our girls is honestly the best gift ever. We had a wonderful visit with my mom and dad as well as my sister and her family. Alan, Ansley and I left to head down to Beaumont Christmas day. I love going home on Christmas day. Having the car filled with gifts and the excitement of seeing everyone...
