Mar 13, 2010

I have a fun little thing I want to do and a wonderful RAK could be yours if you decide to participate. If you see my book “Delight In The Details” while you are out and about take a photo of yourself holding it. Include the name of the store, city and state then email me the photo. If you already purchased my book send me a photo of you holding it and include the city and state you reside. I will have Alan make a photo album that I can post all the photos into so you too can see all the different places it has landed. Vintage Ledger Paper and other stuff

Mar 10, 2010

Here is a sweet purchase I made at Crop-Paper-Scissors after I finished teaching my classes this past weekend. As you all know I love vintage ledger paper (they have more… just saying) and use it in all kinds of different ways… covering chipboard and tags, mixing it with vintage sheet music and book pages to create unique paper flowers, using it in my die cutter and one thing I REALLY LOVE doing is saving the blank margins to type journaling strips for projects. This keeps the vintage feel and theme of the project authentic. So don’t throw away any of your scraps, not even the tiniest of tiny ones. You will use them. And this little receipt book is going to make some adorable embellishments in projects. I feel so lucky to have found...

That little word Acceptance…

Mar 2, 2010

Little did I know just how perfect this one little word would be this year. I guess I should keep it real with this post and explain why I have been pretty much absent since returning from CHA. My daughter Ansley who by the way just turned 16 on the 28th has been diagnosed with Panic Disorder. She had her first full blown attack the first night I was at CHA. Her attacks look like seizures they are so intense and seeing her have them breaks my heart. She has not been able to attend school and has now been placed on Homebound. We do see improvement and are hoping that she will be back on track in a month, fingers crossed. So with all that being said taking care of Ansley 24/7 and...

Feb 17, 2010

In this class you will create 6 adorable Easter Ornaments that are perfect to accent any Easter tree, gift bag or banner. I will show you how to accent dangling chandelier pieces using Copic markers which can be purchased at Crop-Paper-Scissors if you wish to accent your ornaments. There will be lots of painting, sanding, glittering and gluing in this...

What was I thinking?

Feb 11, 2010

Seriously, I had no idea I would have such a wonderful response over my book. I honestly put my heart and soul into each project and wrote in the hopes that you would feel like we were sitting at the kitchen table chatting. You all have been so incredibly wonderful and I thank you so much. This being said I had NO idea I would be so busy after I came home from CHA. My feet hit the floor running. Everyone that purchased a book from me… it is on the way so start stalking the mailman now. I have been answering email like crazy so if you sent me one and I have not responded as of yet please know I am answering them as quickly as I can. I am also designing...

It’s a miracle…

Jan 7, 2010

Most of you know I have a serious time getting my Christmas tree taken down and put back up in the attic before spring and the layout below which I created a while back is proof. Well yesterday was an all time first. I actually got all the holiday decorations boxed up, the tree taken down AND put back into the attic. Seriously, I am so proud of myself as this was a true accomplishment. And needing to finish up CHA projects is a HUGE motivator. This girl is behind and needs to kick it in gear big time. I have so many little things that turn into slightly bigger things to take care of before the show. One thing is getting book projects (layouts, cards and tags) into 4 – American Crafts Modern...

Boo Ornament…

Oct 10, 2009

Here is a simple ornament/tag you can create for your home or attach to or give as a gift. The instructions are pretty simple. All you need to do is cover the front of a 4″ Maya Road circle coaster album page with an old book page (poke a hole for your hanger using the back as your guide), paint the back and edges of the 4″ Maya Road circle coaster album page and Maya Road Jonathan Alphas using black acrylic paint. Next cover the letters in black glitter. Create three crepe paper rosettes out of Black, Orange and White crepe paper streamers. Accent the edges of the crepe paper rosettes using Golden Rod Stickles. Now using a liquid adhesive begin attaching and stacking your crepe paper rosettes onto the front of the 4″...

Mixed Scallop Banner Album…

Jul 24, 2009

Here is the new Maya Road Mixed Scallop Banner Album. This album comes with four scallop pages, four plain pages and 2 rings. I really like that you can stack the plain pages on top of the scallop pages creating a four page banner as I did below. I like the dimension you get with the pages stacked. You can also alternate between the scallop and plain pages creating an eight page banner. Lots of possibilities with this new little gem. Oh I had a little Ah Ha moment yesterday while I was tossing these clear buttons around on my workspace. I can’t wait to show you next week. I do believe you are gonna like it a lot! Although if you do a little investigating online you might be able to see what...

Jul 21, 2009

I finally get to start sharing some Maya Road goodies this week. This project showcases four new products. Maya Road now has this super cute Oval Scallop Journal Coaster that I used as the base for my ornament. Each coaster album comes with 6 pages on a chain and the first page is embossed. One thing I am super excited about because I LOVE snowflakes are these adorable new mini snowflakes. Each package comes with 10 styles and 30 pieces. Up next are these great new mini alphas called Bethany. You get 65 letters per pack. These new Hanging Chandelier pieces are wonderful too. I like using them to accent my projects. And the great thing here is you get over 70 pieces per pack! So get ready for some of these cuties to...

A little Valentine Tutorial…

Jan 19, 2009

I guess you can tell I LOVE Maya Road. Seriously love everything Deb and Caroline make and the great thing about their products are they mix and match perfectly. I always look at their coaster albums and think they would make wonderful fabric patterns. Well needing a break from book projects yesterday I decided to use the bird pattern to create my own fabric embellishment. Talk about super EASY to make. Seriously easy. This is the first piece of fabric anything I have ever sewn. Yes I got the sewing machine to sew on paper. Anyway, I thought I would create a little tutorial thinking you might like to give this a try. Supplies Needed: 2-Ring Heart Binder (1 page) Sheer Heart Scallop Book (1 page) Heart Chipboard Book (1 page) Bird Chipboard Book...

What a fun weekend…

Oct 13, 2008

This weekend I stayed in Waxahachie with some of the Maya Road girls… Caroline, Jessica, Aubrey and Wendy. I gotta tell you, Wendy taught some of the most inspiring classes all day Saturday and all day Sunday at the Crafty Scrapper. If you ever see that Wendy Vecchi is coming to a store near you I say run and sign up as fast as you can. You do NOT want to miss any of her classes. Wendy is the first person I have ever taken a class from and I want more. She taught me so many great techniques that I plan on carrying over into future projects. Thanks Wendy for all the inspiration. This little album is one I created in Wendy’s Fragments class. Wendy has you bring scraps of paper, rubons and...
