 So what do you think? I think the Maya Road DT did an amazing job and these are just one project from each person so you can only imagine what the booth looks like filled with all their projects. AMAZING is all I can say.

This cute little guy can be found in the gallery in the back section of “Delight In The Details”. I just love him and had so much fun sculpting his face. My favorite part is his carrot nose. I also thought you might like to see what is inside the small altered box. It’s a cute teeny tiny, mini album I filled with snow photos of the girls from winters past.

My little Mr. Winter looks so cute sitting on the shelf of my scraproom and I can honestly say, I have enjoyed looking at him every single day. This is one of my favorite projects I created for my book and wish Maya Road would bring this box back. Maybe if you bug Caroline enough for me she will. It never hurts to try. This box and mini album are the perfect size to alter and I miss them both.

Here is the completed Halloween mini album. I love how it turned out. Jenni Bowlin and Maya Road were made to go together. I accented the stems of the pumpkins using JBS Decorative Brads, MR Leaf Pins and Trim. It’s now ready to fill with cute Halloween photos of little trick –or-treaters and some journaling about their fun candy filled evening.

I added brown and white baker’s twine to the top of the smaller pumpkins and accented the edges of the JBS Alterable Letters — Micro Dots using Chicken Feed and brown ink. And of course I accented the top of each letter using Diamond Stickles. The 2011 are JBS Vintage Black Stickers.

I tied a brown and white baker’s twine bow around the leaf stem and used the bottom portion of the “Witch Hazel” tag as a journaling spot on the album.

So there it is… the completed album. I hope you create one of your own with the supplies you already have on hand a few of the adorable Halloween products Maya Road and Jenni Bowlin have out right now. They never disappoint.

Now it’s back to writing instructions and kitting for me today. Can’t wait for this weekend. I love teaching at The Crafty Scrapper.

I covered the majority of the chipboard house using this Halloween 2011 patterned paper by JBS Mercantile. The small sections are perfect to alter the house and pumpkin. The owl and stars on the roof are from this patterned paper.

After I covered the house with patterned paper I sanded and inked the edges using a brown ink. Then I attached the patterned paper of the kids onto the back of the house so it looks as though they’re peeking out the window.  Using Fabri Tac, I attached a piece of Single Ruffle Crochet Trim by Maya Road as an awning and accented it with black self adhesive gems. The polka dots and stars are accented with Diamond Stickles. Remember, you will need to cover the back of the house where the part that sticks up above the album page shows. 

I cut out and attached one owl on top of another using foam squares. I like the dimension it gives to the top of the roof. I lightly accented around the eyes, wings and tummy using Diamond Stickles.

I applied adhesive to the mini pumpkin and covered it with patterned paper from the mini pattern sheet. I sanded and inked the edges using a brown ink and then accented the stars using Diamond Stickles. I then attached all three items to the house with a strong liquid adhesive.

Now, we are ready to attach the altered maple leaves, pumpkins and house to the pages and accent the album using those special Halloween photos and additional embellishments.

As you can see the album is starting to come together, but please note I do not have anything attached to the cover just yet. Everything is just sitting in place. I like seeing the stems of the leaves and pumpkins sticking out. The album still lacks all the details that makes it special but you can begin to see how the completed mini album is going to look. I’m still not sure how I want to alter the banner.. paint, ink, paper? I’ll figure it out later. Today we are altering the leaves of the coaster mini album.

I find it easiest when altering something like the shape of leaves is to apply the adhesive to the chipboard piece, attach the patterned paper and then cut the piece out using a craft knife set onto a craft mat. Then sand and ink the edges using a brown ink.

Note: Remember, you will need to attach patterned paper to the back of the leaves that sticks above the album.

I then accented the polka dots and white stripes on the patterned paper using Diamond Stickles and let dry.

Okay, off to alter the chipboard house. Then it’s finally time to start adding all the wonderful details and photos to each page.

Okay, so now to altering the chipboard pumpkins with Jenni Bowlin’s awesome Halloween 2011 line.

To create the pumpkin template place a piece of computer paper on top and trace over the recessed area with a stylus and cut out. For the stem portion of the pumpkin I traced the outer stem area onto the paper with a pencil and used the stylus to get the bottom portion of the stem and cut it out.

Apply adhesive over the entire front of the pumpkin, attach patterned paper, using a craft knife cut around the edges then sand and ink the edges using a brown ink.

Now trace the stem template onto patterned paper and cut out. Ink the edges using a brown ink, apply adhesive to the back of the stem and attach to the top of the pumpkin. Sand the edges and ink again if needed.

Note: You will want to do the same thing to the back of the stem and any part of the pumpkin that will show when the page is turned.

Trace the pumpkin template onto patterned paper. I traced it twice onto two different patterned papers then cut the oval center portion of the template out and traced different patterned paper for the center section of the pumpkin. Distress the edges and ink using a brown ink. Apply adhesive to the patterned papers and attach to the pumpkin as shown.

Accent the patterns on the patterned paper using Diamond Stickles. I accented the stars and orange polka dots. Let dry.

Now I’m off to alter the maple leaves… happy creating.

Once all the pages are covered I then alter the mini chipboard embellishments. I inked and glittered a cat, two trees and two maple leaves. Then I altered two mini chipboard pumpkins using patterned paper and Diamond Stickles.

It’s the perfect day for creating here in Frisco, cloudy cool and rainy. More photos to come tomorrow.

First, I get an idea which usually comes to me at night when in bed. My brain starts to unwind because I’m always wound up like an 8 day clock. It is then that all the ideas start creeping in my head and I take notes.

The other night a mini album idea popped into my head for Halloween. I have some of the new super awesome JBS Halloween line and embellishments that I have really been wanting to use but could not come up with an idea that I really liked. I was thinking about all the unused album pages I have from previous projects and an idea instantly popped into my head to create a mixed matched album using left over pages that would work perfectly for pumpkin patch or Halloween photos.

I start by gathering all the pages and place each page as I think I will like the album to look when opened and closed. I end up moving things over and over until I like the arrangement. So make note what you see here might not be what you see in the end.

Now that I have all the pages arranged as I like, I begin covering the base of each page with patterned paper. Then I start pulling out all the inks, paint, mists and glitter and being altering the embellishments. I plan on posting the progress of this album if you want to follow along and create your own.

Please Note: I’m a Maya Road hoarder so some of these items might not be available (House and Horizontal pages) but don’t let this discourage you, be creative and use what you already have on hand in your stash. I’m sure you have items that will be a great substitute.

This album has photos of my great great aunts Minnie and Amanda and uncles Albert and Stephen along with their parents, my great great great grandmother Rebecca Hinkle, grandfather Enoch Childers and his brother Jesse. Oh and these are the family members who lived in the old house I love going into on my aunt’s property in Buckhannon, WV. The swing Albert Childers is sitting in still hangs in the same spot today.

I removed all but two of the pages that come with the Maya Road 5 x 7 album and replaced those I took out with pages from different Maya Road Coaster Albums. I painted the album and each of the pages using a soft yellow then applied old book pages and cream felt I accented with simple hand stitching and cream felt flowers.

This album turned out to be one of my most treasured albums. Even though it took me working on it all day every day for an entire week to get it completed I like the simple feel the album has and how it features each family photo.
