Canvas Sampler…

January19

This canvas sampler was created using a page from the new Maya Road Canvas Frayed Edge Triangle Banner. I trimmed the edges using scallop scissors.

Canvas Sampler
I cut the burlap piece then stitched the items onto it before I attached it to the canvas banner page. This way you don’t see the stitching and the back of the banner page looks clean.

Medallion Flower
I covered a Mini Kraft Tag with vintage sheet music then accented it using the new Brown Scallop Trim and a vintage button. The center of the Cream Medallion Flower is accented with Diamond Stickles.

Dangling Chandelier Bead
I attached the words cut from a book page to the back of a Dangling Chandelier Bead using Glossy Accents. Such a simple technique that creates quite an impact on a bead.

Home Sweet Home…

January18

Sneak Peeks for Day 4 are ya ready? Look at this sweet new stamp set. It is called Our Town. This stamp set includes 12 houses in various sizes and the words Home and Sweet.

Our Town Singleton Stamp Set
I misted the new Deborah mini alphas with Bronze Maya Mist and outlined them using a Black Jelly Roll Pen. You get 65 letters that range in size from 0.6″ to 1.2″.

Sneak Peek Day 4
The base of this tag is a page from the new Modern Label Chipboard Coaster. You get six pages on a chain and the first page is embossed. I accented the tag using a new Crystal Pin (60 per pack) and a Dangling Chandelier Bead (3 different sizes and over 70 per pack).

Cream & Brown Ruffle Blossoms
These flowers are the new Brown & Cream Ruffle Blossoms. You get 8 blossoms per pack – 4 cream and 4 brown. They are 0.9″ in diameter. I accented the stamens using Diamond Stickles.

New Release Products:

New Products I love…

January16

Since Maya Road sneak peeks will continue Monday I thought I would show you a few products already revealed that I really love.

Medallion Flowers
I love how gorgeous this Red Medallion Flower accented with a Crystal and Vintage Black Pearl Pin looks next to an Uppercase Philadelphia Chipboard letter that is altered with fine silver german glass glitter. You can bet I will be tinting some Crystal Pins with my copic markers or alcohol inks using this Tim’s cool fillable pen in the near future.

Mini Scallop Triangle Banner
I love how cute this heart and arrow from the Love Mini Chipboard Set looks altered with vintage sheet music and fine silver german glass glitter. It is attached to one of the Mixed Scallop Triangle Banners from the Mini Set.

Chipboard Button Mini Set
And I think this button from the Mini Button Chipboard Set looks so cute inked with a Maya Road Pure White Inkpad then covered with Glossy Accents, sprinkled with a little iridescent glitter and accented with a simple self adhesive pearl.

Dangling Chandelier Beads
I love the new Dangling Chandelier Beads and the fact that I can color them with my copic markers (as I did above) or alcohol inks opens up loads of creativity.

Product Stats:
The Medallion Flowers are about 2.0″ across and come in 2 colors per package – brown/cream, black/red and yellow/pink. I like to accent the stamens using Diamond Stickles… just adds a little pop.

The Mixed Scallop Triangle Banner comes with 4 styles and 40 pieces. The pieces are separate so you can layer and mix and match if you wish. These can be Misted, Painted, Inked, Glittered or covered with Paper.

The Love Mini Chipboard Set has over 30 different pieces that you can layer… different style and shaped hearts, arrows and the word love. These too can be Misted, Painted, Inked, Glittered or covered with Paper.

The Mini Chipboard Buttons you get nine styles and 30 pieces. These come in squares (some even have scalloped edges) and circles in various sizes. I like to run mine through my Cuttlebug Machine to emboss them… super cute! And again you can Mist, Paint, Ink, Glitter or cover these with Paper.

The Dangling Chandelier Beads has over 70 pieces in each package and comes in three different sizes as shown above.

See ya Monday. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Day 3 of Maya Road Sneak Peeks

January15

Check out all the new beauties. There are quite a few so I will start with the Felt Pearl Blossoms. They come in several different shades, off-white, brown, pink, grey, yellow and turquoise. The Heart Pins come in the gorgeous pearl red as shown in my project and the sweetest baby pink. And the fun thing about the Dangling Chandelier Beads is they are clear so you can color them any color you want using either copic markers or alcohol inks in this super cool fillable pen. The sky is the limit for these as you can make them any color you wish to match your projects. Then we have the super cute Kraft Mini Tickets that come in 13 different designs and the Kraft Mini Tags that come in 6 different designs. I ran my mini tag through my Cuttlebug Machine using the Textile embossing folder then glittered the embossed area with fine silver german glass glitter… such a pretty effect. I accented the felt pearl blossoms leaf with Distress Stickles in Peeled Paint and the love chipboard piece from the Love Mini Chipboard Set in Frayed Burlap. Oh gosh and I almost forgot the tag base is the new Modern Label Chipboard Coaster. I used Maya Mist Brown to cover the entire page then inked the edges using a Maya Road Charcoal Inkpad.

Whew… and there ya have it… my finished project.

New Maya Road Metallic Ink Colors…

January14

You are going to LOVE the new Maya Road metallic inkpads… the coverage is incredible, the colors are great and I am so in love. But what is new right…. I know I always say I am in love when it comes to Maya Road but it is true. I don’t say it unless I mean it and I really do feel you are going to LOVE these new Inkpads just as much as I do.

The inspiration behind this tag comes from a piece of Pennsylvania Dutch Folk Art I saw online… when I saw it the tulips on the piece reminded me of some chipboard pieces in the Maya Road Damask Chipboard Sheet, well one thing led to another and here you have it… my tag version of Pennsylvania Dutch Folk Art. The chipboard pieces are inked with all the new Maya Road inkpad colors and are accented with either Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint or Rock Candy Distress Stickles.

Let the sneak peeks begin…

January13

Oh how I love being on the Maya Road design team especially this time of year when I get to play with all their new release products. Here is a project I created using lots of new Maya Road products. This sweet banner will be displayed in my scraproom and certainly in a spot so that I can see it all the time. I just love it. I colored the Maya Road Hanging Chandelier Beads using a Copic Marker (Sand E33) and I embossed the Chipboard Buttons using my Cuttlebug and the French Script Embossing Folder.

Booo, eek, Howl…

October14

Halloween card or invitation

Here is a quick card I created for Halloween. (so not happy with the way the glittered leaf photographed… the color is so off but I cannot get it right… sorry) I am going to include this with a batch of apples and caramel dipping sauce for one lucky neighbor. Surprises are fun. I just love this time of year.

Patterned Paper Measurements: Bats: 4″ x 5.25″, Icon Stripe: 2.75″ x 4″, Spider: 1.5″ x 4″

Supplies Used: Making Memories: Spook Alley Bats, Icon Stripe, Spider, Brocade, Sticker Glitter Alpha Spook Alley, Scrapbook Shimmer Grapesicle, Ranger: Distress Ink – Dusty Concord, Clearsnap: ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink – Charcoal, Maya Road: Hanging Chandelier Bead, Leaves Chipboard Sheet, Black Seam Binding, Foam Squares, DCWV: Card

And make sure you check back tomorrow because I will have a give away to my sweet friend Dina Wakley’s newest workshop Art Journaling 301: The Graffiti of my Life. Gosh does this girl ever ROCK the Art Journaling world. Dina is not only a wonderful person but also an incredibly talented artist. I just love her and I know you will too.

In Anticipation…

August28

of my upcoming workshop “All Hallow’s Eve” below is a tutorial I put together showing you how to recreate this super cute Halloween themed Bottle Brush Tree. You all are going to love this one… promise!

Halloween Bottle Brush Tree

Supplies Needed: Bottle Brush Tree, Clorox Bleach, Maya Road Maya Mists Orange, Gold Mercury Glass Beads, Black Seam Binding, Mother of Pearl Button, Black Embroidery Floss, Vintage Paper, Golden Rod Stickles, Aleene’s Tacky Glue

Tools Needed: Scissors, Tweezers

Instructions:

  • In a well ventilated area or outside place a mixture of 1/3 warm water and 2/3’s Bleach into a glass container. The amount made will determine how many trees you will be bleaching at one time.  Place tree(s) into mixture and let set until bleached.  Once bleaching is complete remove from mixture and allow to dry.

Bleached out and dried bottle brush tree

  • Using Maya Road Maya Mist (Orange) lightly spray onto bleached bottle brush tree. I lined my kitchen sink with paper towels, set the tree on top of the paper towels and lightly misted the tree. Once dyed lightly blot the tree using paper towels and let dry.

Misted Bottle Brush Tree

  • Accent your dried tree using Gold Mercury Glass Beads, Black Seam Binding and a Mother of Pearl Button. I used Aleene’s Tacky Glue for my adhesive. I found it easiest to hold the Gold Mercury Glass Beads with tweezers when attaching them to the tree.

Accented Bottle Brush Tree

  • Create a small banner with a strip of paper that says “Happy Halloween”. The strip of paper needs to measure approximately 7.5″ in length. Accent the edges of the banner using Golden Rod Stickles and let dry. Once dry wrap the banner around the tree and attach using a hot glue gun.

Attach "Happy Halloween" Banner

Now for a few more sneak peeks… enjoy!

Mixed Scallop Banner Album…

July24

Here is the new Maya Road Mixed Scallop Banner Album. This album comes with four scallop pages, four plain pages and 2 rings. I really like that you can stack the plain pages on top of the scallop pages creating a four page banner as I did below. I like the dimension you get with the pages stacked. You can also alternate between the scallop and plain pages creating an eight page banner. Lots of possibilities with this new little gem.

Oh I had a little Ah Ha moment yesterday while I was tossing these clear buttons around on my workspace. I can’t wait to show you next week. I do believe you are gonna like it a lot! Although if you do a little investigating online you might be able to see what I am talking about sooner.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
