 So what do you think? I think the Maya Road DT did an amazing job and these are just one project from each person so you can only imagine what the booth looks like filled with all their projects. AMAZING is all I can say.

Once all the pages are covered I then alter the mini chipboard embellishments. I inked and glittered a cat, two trees and two maple leaves. Then I altered two mini chipboard pumpkins using patterned paper and Diamond Stickles.

It’s the perfect day for creating here in Frisco, cloudy cool and rainy. More photos to come tomorrow.

In the layout above I felt there was too much white space in the background of Ansley’s photo so I used the end of my paintbrush and some acrylic paints to create a polka dot background. I like the pop of color the polka dots create and they fill in the white space perfectly. To pop the photo a bit more I painted yellow acrylic paint all around the edge of the photo creating a bright colored border.

To fill in the white space on the photo above I attached clear buttons to mimic that of thought bubbles. I think this accent on the layout worked perfectly with the quote by Edgar Allen Poe, “They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.” The border on the cardstock is created using decorative scissors and a hole punch.

I really enjoyed creating this layout. I mixed chipboard alphas, stamps and Maya Road Sheer Alphas to create the title. I think the mix match of products adds to the uniqueness of the layout and compliments the painted Maya Road chipboard petals I used to accent the design on the patterned paper.

It really does seem like yesterday Ansley was peeking over the fence to see what I was doing… I’m so glad I had my camera and quickly snapped this photo. It’s one of my favorites of her.

Tomorrow, I will show you a mini album I created of Terri her senior year. It’s a simple one to duplicate. I’m thinking of creating one for Ansley that is similar.

Chevrons are all the rage lately, aren’t they?  A quick search on Pinterest comes up with thousands of entries:

Clothing, home decor, paper crafts…chevrons are everywhere!  Feeling inspired, I put together this layout:

And I loved it so much that I decided I had to do a video tutorial on how to create the chevron background.

And since I had the pink-on-pink chevron paper, I decided to make another layout:

I see a lot of chevrons in my future.  How about you?

Good morning! My name is Christine Drumheller and I am the owner of the monthly kit club, Cocoa Daisy.

I was thrilled to be invited to post on Lisa’s blog this week. I am normally a very clean, linear kind of scrapbooker but this being Lisa’s blog I thought I would stretch out of my comfort zone and add some extra layers of flowers and ribbon to a layout. I used bits and pieces from our July kit “Urban Loft” and its add-ons to create this layout about my Mom and I on Mother’s Day.

Layering with paper flowers is a fun and versatile way of creating some texture on your page. I used the Sassafras kraft flowers and some of their new “foldies” on my layout but you can cut flowers from patterned paper or use a floral paper punch to get the same look. Dress up your flowers with adhesive pearls, buttons, stitching, stickles, ink or paint. What I like about paper flowers is that you can manipulate them so easily, you can curl the petals, distress them with a sanding block or crumple the whole flower. And don’t forget to use foam adhesive to layer them!

I started my layout with the photo and the patterned paper then I placed the ribbon along the bottom and machine stitched it down. Then I simply tucked flowers here and there. After I added the flowers I thought it still  needed a bit more so I added the banner stickers and a few random circles (always room for circles!!).

 I finished it off with the title and date, I still want to add some journaling, a special note to Mom :)

…I simply punched the butterflies from some completed circles.

Above is the complete layout using the silhouette I created of me and my brother, Richard. I was around 7 or 8 and Richard was around 5 or 6. Sadly, Richard passed away in 2004 from alcoholism at the age of 38. The photo below has always been a favorite of mine and even though I cannot see or talk to him now, I know he’s always at my side.

July 4th has never been the same since he passed. His 5 niece’s and 1 nephew (poor boy) knew Richard would purchase a ton of fireworks for them to shoot off. He would either take all the older kids out of the city limits to shoot them off or take his chances and shoot them off down the street at mom and dad’s house. Watching Richard round up all the kids, which were running in every direction but the right direction, so as not to get caught by the police had mom and I laughing until we cried.

They only got caught once and little Terri threw him under the bus mighty quick. When the cops asked Richard if he had anymore fireworks, Terri chimes in with, “only these” in her little “Roo” voice and showing them a handful of bottle rockets. Needless to say, nothing happened and I’m sure the cops still laugh at her deer caught in the headlights face. That moment was priceless. We all have super fun memories of Richard and I miss him a lot but even more so every July 4th.

Kits Used: Main Kit “Urban Loft” and Add On Kit “South Loop”

The photo of the little girl is me. It is one of my favorite baby photos.  I thought this photo was a perfect match with this paper line by Jenni Bowlin. In this layout I used my craft knife a lot. Which is most likely one of the reasons my shoulder is killing me… I love to use my craft knife and grip it so tightly. I think the light chalking on the bird and flowers makes for a perfect splash of color.

I love the whimsical feel of this layout… I first started out with the house and then built the layout from there. I love how the Maya Road tree tops make for perfect clouds.

This layout has more craft knife work and lots of hand stitching. Altering the Maya Road chipboard letters in a semi solid color gives the eye a nice place to rest. This layout has a lot going on and I love it. I really like this Pink Paislee line… it was one of their firsts.
