What a bad blogger I have been…

Feb 9, 2009

As soon as I got home from CHA I hit the ground running. No time to relax for a single second. I guess I will do a little run down of what has been going on in my little neck of the woods… 1st… CHA was a blast. Going with Maya Road is always so much fun. I did loads of make n takes, gave away fun stuff and got to chat with lots of wonderful people. 2nd… As soon as I got home I had to instantly start on a layout for Memory Makers. It is going to be included in an article in the July/August issue. I am not even going to tell you what it looks like as you will know it is mine the second you see it. It uses...

A little Valentine Tutorial…

Jan 19, 2009

I guess you can tell I LOVE Maya Road. Seriously love everything Deb and Caroline make and the great thing about their products are they mix and match perfectly. I always look at their coaster albums and think they would make wonderful fabric patterns. Well needing a break from book projects yesterday I decided to use the bird pattern to create my own fabric embellishment. Talk about super EASY to make. Seriously easy. This is the first piece of fabric anything I have ever sewn. Yes I got the sewing machine to sew on paper. Anyway, I thought I would create a little tutorial thinking you might like to give this a try. Supplies Needed: 2-Ring Heart Binder (1 page) Sheer Heart Scallop Book (1 page) Heart Chipboard Book (1 page) Bird Chipboard Book...

And the fun begins…

Jan 15, 2009

Thanks everyone for sharing all the sweet things you do for Valentine’s Day. Ansley enjoyed picking a winner. Actually so much so she picked two. Congrats to… Valerie Myers… Ansley liked the balloon taped to your son’s skateboard. She said it would be nice if I did the same thing in her favorite spots of our house. Guess what I will be doing this Valentine’s Day. And Leonie Aland… Ansley loved that you put the hearts in your husbands lunch box and embarrassed him in front of all of his manly friends… typical teenage girl. I hope you two enjoy my Cupid’s Workshop. Finally the fun has begun. I don’t think I could have waited another...

If you would like to win a spot to join in on all the fun in my Cupid’s Workshop just leave a comment telling me some of the fun things you do for your family on Valentine’s Day. Ansley will pick a winner tonight. I am knee deep in a book deadline right now so back to creating I go…. but the good thing is I am more than half way finished creating and I am in love with every single project. I cannot wait for you all to see what I have been working on. The not sharing is killing...

Did you know…

Maya Road has a Valentine’s Day release? If you didn’t you need to check out this cute little “Love Ticket” Singleton Stamp. I love that the words are seperate stamps too, so perfect for little sentiments on tiny tags. Then they have this adorable “Forever Postage” Singleton Stamp. I really love this trio… so perfect to accent your Valentine’s or candy wrappers. They also have this wonderful Maya Mist set of Red and Silver… gorgeous colors used separately or in combination. The “Love Keychain” set is so cute and has so many possibilities for projects… no favorite here as I love each one. And last but not least they have this really cute “Key Keychain” set. This set would also be cute as embellishments for a new home or car for those of you...

A little bit of this and a little bit of that…

Jan 5, 2009

First, thank you for all the sweet email of well wishes for Ansley and Alan. They are feeling better. Ansley did not go to school today as she is still pretty zapped but she is better and should be able to go back tomorrow.  I think I can now take off my nurse cap. To all you nurses out there… Big huge cheers to you… you all earn every cent you make and I’m certain you should be paid more… what a job. I am so glad it warmed up here a bit over the last few days or we would be having a nasty icy mess right now on the roads. Icicles are not a common site on my birdhouse. We are having lots of drizzly rain that is now starting to freeze...

The Flu Bug….

Jan 3, 2009

has hit our family… First Ansley yesterday, poor girl ended up needing 2 bags of fluids… sick sick girl I tell ya, but better today just really weak. Then Alan was hit with it at 5 a.m. this morning… I am spraying Lysol like a crazy woman and scrubbing any and everything they come in contact with… I pray you all miss this stuff because it is bad, bad, bad! I will be back to posting in a few days. I hope you all started 2009 better than...

Cupid’s Workshop…

Jan 1, 2009

I am hosting a Valentine’s Day workshop starting January 15th and ending February 15th. The cost for this workshop is $14.95 and will include two weeks of creating as well as two weeks of additional access to the private blog. These additional two weeks will allow you time to finish up your projects just in time for Valentine’s Day. Like my 12 Days of Christmas workshop these projects have been designed so you can use products you already have on hand or exactly as I have created mine since a complete supply list and step by step instructions are provided for each of the 8 projects. Some projects you will need to purchase a few items if you want them to be just like mine. But most of the products you do need to...

Getting back in the groove…

Dec 30, 2008

Today I have about as much energy as a slug. Getting back into the groove after all the hustle and bustle of last minute holiday preparations always seems to be hard for me. We open presents at our house on Christmas Eve. I love baking cookies all morning and afternoon, cooking the dinner and watching Ansley go nuts counting down the hours until we open presents.  It is all so much fun and seeing happy faces on our girls is honestly the best gift ever. We had a wonderful visit with my mom and dad as well as my sister and her family. Alan, Ansley and I left to head down to Beaumont Christmas day. I love going home on Christmas day. Having the car filled with gifts and the excitement of seeing everyone...

Happy Holidays…

Dec 23, 2008

Gosh… what a bad blogger I have been as of late. I am under a big book deadline so I have been creating like a mad woman. So much so I have thrown out my back. Oh do I ever have empathy for those of you that suffer from chronic back pain. Since I don’t have any projects to share with you right now (which is torture as I have a huge stack of completed items) I thought I would share a few items I received in the mail last week. Terri who participated in my 12 Days of Christmas online Workshop sent me these three beautiful tags and this wonderfully altered paper star. Talk about a great mail day… I love these and will certainly incorporate them in my holiday decor every year....

Seriously I do not know what to say…

Dec 6, 2008

My 12 Days of Christmas online workshop has been overwhelming popular. I am honestly at a loss for words. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have emailed me saying how much fun you are all having. I have had email sent to me from ALL over the World… just amazing. And since I am presently being bombarded with email from others wanting to participate in this workshop but worried about the deadline. I have decided to leave the workshop up until Dec. 31st. This will give everyone time to finish their projects and then all good things must come to an end. December 31st will the the absolute last day for this workshop. Those that participate in this workshop will get a discount on my Cupid’s Workshop starting January 15th...

What a great mail day…

Nov 25, 2008

Okay I have to admit I have been a tad bit stressed about the big “Thanksgiving Day” dinner at our house. Alan’s mom and dad are coming and Terri’s boyfriend Laren will be bringing his family. I know it will be fun and everything will turn out beautifully but I didn’t name my blog “It’s in The Details” for nothing…. seriously I can make myself NUTS detailing everything down to the last grain of salt. I am the type of person that can make a mountain out of a mole hill with any project or event. My brain just keeps thinking about adding this and that and this would be great oh and if we had this, that would be great too…. Sorry I kinda got off topic… wait I don’t think I even...

If you love CUPCAKES…

Nov 19, 2008

you need to check out this new Etsy store. My friend Jessica has a sister-in-law that is SO TALENTED. So Jessica convinced her to open up an Etsy store “Raubski”. You can purchase originals and/or reproductions at a great price. I think this is the most incredible cupcake. Look at that detail and the vibrant colors… makes me want to eat one now. Anyway, you will find others in her store like Chocolate, Striped, Blue Heart, Cherry and as you can guess my favorite is shown above “Freddie’s cupcake“. Actually I love them all and just closed my eyes and picked to see which one I would feature. The colors are so vibrant and the designs are incredible. Brenda is just now starting her store so check back often as she will be adding...

Another sampling…

Nov 18, 2008

I have received several emails asking if it is to late to sign up for my workshop… no, it is not. The last project will be posted November 28th and I will leave the workshop open until December 15th 31st. This should give everyone time to complete the projects, print out the many downloads of vintage postcards, greeting cards, templates and copy any recipes you might want to give a try this holiday season. Below are some of the projects created in my 12 Days of Christmas online Workshop. They are part of the Countdown to Christmas weekly projects. Weekly projects are posted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I also have weekend projects which are posted every Saturday. In this workshop there are a total of 15 projects. Each project tutorial includes color photos...

A few online stores…

Nov 15, 2008

I am always looking for some nice reliable online stores with great customer service and this week I found two and thought I would share. If you are in the need for any beautiful pink forget-me-nots well Holly Doodle Designs is the place to get them. She is selling them for an incredible price, has great shipping, nice packaging and is super sweet. Now the next place is certainly not a good place for your wallet so I am going to apologize right now… Candice Carpenter’s Peacoats and Party Hats oh my…. remember you have been warned. Enter her store at your own risk! Super cute product, great shipping, nice packaging and she too is super sweet. So there ya go… my two enabling stores for the weekend. Happy...

Embellish the Embellishment…

Nov 12, 2008

I do this all the time… especially if what I am about to use already has glitter such as these cute little bells. It seems they never put enough glitter on them so I dip a paint brush into some Elmer’s School Glue no run Gel, brush it on the bells, then sprinkle more glitter on top. Once the glue is dry I take my Platinum Stickles and go all around the edge. I feel this gives it that true vintage look. Then I put a drop of hot glue from my glue gun in the center of each bell and add tiny jingle bell to each one. Now you have a perfectly embellished...
