Happy Mother’s Day

May 8, 2011

Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever. ~Author Unknown This photo of me and my mom always makes me laugh. The expression on my face and my head tilted down makes it look as though I had been eating one too many a moon pie. I’m guessing I was around 3 or 4 years old. I hope all you moms out there have a wonderful Mother’s Day. And here is a little something that might inspire you to take photos around your “Home Sweet Home“ to document your life as it is today. Just click here to get started. All you have to do is sign up, you won’t be charged....

A Little Something for Me

May 6, 2011

If you haven’t checked out Suze Weinberg’s etsy shop you need to… she creates some really cool and funky necklaces. I purchased one a few months ago that I just love and talked about it here. Well the other day I took another look in her etsy shop and BAM found another necklace I had to have. I tell ya I can only go and look every few months because I would purchase one every time I visited. This one has all the colors I wear and I love all the baubles she added, so what’s a girl to do… click add to cart. The quality of Suze’s workmanship, beads and baubles is top notch but then again, I would not expect anything less from her. And today, I will finish book project #60...

Leaving on a jet plane…

Apr 28, 2011

I’m heading to Ranger U today and cannot wait to play all weekend with a group of friends I’ve never met, yet feel like I already know.  We have been emailing and planning for weeks. New Jersey just might not ever be the same again once we hit the streets. So while I’m gone I thought I would give you all a little something to create this weekend. “You R 2 Tweet” is now a free online workshop. I hope you have fun creating the mini banner. This is a class I taught at CHA when my book debuted at CHA-W 2010. You can use my book “Delight In The Details” to reference the techniques used in this project. The page numbers are included in the instructions. To gain access to the workshop click...

The parentals came to town…

Apr 19, 2011

Saturday, mom and dad came up for a quick visit and when they come they always bring fun stuff. Mom painted me a gorgeous painting that will reside in my scraproom soon so I can see it everyday. I love the colors and texture so much. I did  my best to get the colors correct but the lighting is not working with me too well this morning. The size of the canvas is 16 x 20 and will fill the space in my scraproom perfectly. Hanging on the green wall will really make all the colors pop nicely. I really like the simplicity of the three little birds sitting on the twig. The sides of the canvas are the same color. Then you have several different shades of beige, red and turquoise. Love, love,...

Apr 12, 2011

It’s time for another Memory Makers Blog Bounce. This time we got to play with all the products from the Making Memories Dilly Dally Line. This line is perfect for spring. I really enjoyed playing with their Patterned Papers, Alpha and Banner Stamps, Stickers and Rub On Pack, Alpha Shimmer Stickers, Glitter Paper Flowers, Fabric Flowers and Die Cut Butterflies. They are perfect to create spring cards, tags and projects. Once I got started creating I kept thinking of other cute things I could make and kept going and going. Really the Dilly Dally Line is so inspiring. If you want a chance to win a wonderful Dilly Dally Giveaway click here to find out more. I created a spring card using the patterned papers, stamp set and stickers. I cut the bird out...

I will be making more…

Apr 8, 2011

This egg was really fun to make and was the perfect creative break I needed yesterday. I’ve been writing, writing and writing all week and can finally see the light at the end of that long, long tunnel. It wasn’t easy finding supplies to use so thank goodness I still have my fingers and a super worn out paintbrush. I plan on making a few more with different designs to fill the bird nests I made a while back. Okay, back to writing… just had to share my sweet little egg with you all. Have a great...

A few more finds…

Apr 6, 2011

Yesterday, I decided to head to Frisco Resale for a little thrifting. Thrifting always does the mind good when you get writers block. It’s so fun to walk around looking at things and trying to figure out different ways of using them. While I was there I found two cute glass pieces to use for holding tools and smaller embellishments. I plan on using this dish to hold micro tip scissors, tweezers and smaller tools. And this dresser dish will store lots of vintage buttons. I love that the lid is monogrammed. It adds such charm to the piece. Have you had a chance to do any thrifting lately…. if not get out and do some… it does a lot of...

Magnetic Board and Doily

Apr 5, 2011

Here is how I plan on using the tray I found a few weeks ago at Frisco Resale. Once my scraproom is cleaned up from all the book projects being created it will find a permanent home in there until then it will sit out in the living area. The button magnets are old buttons my dad attached magnets to the back of. They work perfectly on this tray and look adorable. I plan on using this tray as an inspiration board, receipt holder and what ever else I need to not misplace at the moment. I always keep the letter from my sweet Uncle Ed near by… he always has such wonderful words of encouragement and is so proud of my book. The doily flower magnet you see at the bottom of the...

I survived…

Apr 4, 2011

Barely, but I did survive the taping of two videos Friday, while in Cincinnati. Glad that is over. But I do believe you are going to like the tutorials and now I know how I want to do some for my blog. Once they finish performing miracles in the editing room they will send me the videos to share with all of you. The week was super awesome and I am so excited to see this book come together. While talking to everyone there about the design and layout I could finally picture it coming together in my head. I’m going to be so proud of this book. It is exactly how I hoped it would be. Before I left for Cincinnati I made a few fabric flowers and thought I would show you...

4 Chapters and 2 Promos…

Mar 31, 2011

Are in the can!!! Today, we worked it and got 13 techniques shot with 30 min. left in the day. So Jenni and I started organizing for the two technique videos I”ll be shooting tomorrow. I will be so glad when tomorrow is over. I’ve worried about shooting these videos all week long. But Jenni says it will all be okay and I have nothing to worry about. It’s so strange as I can talk to anyone, have taught at CHA, have instructed 1,000’s of make-n-takes, taught classes without any fear but pull that camera out and I freeze up. If I lose my fear of the camera tomorrow Amy Coon wont know how to act. Every time she comes to the Maya Road booth at CHA I want to just take off running...

Techniques, Food and Props…

Mar 30, 2011

Today, we were one technique short of completing all the techniques for Chapter three but it was another great day in the studio. Here is a photo of just a few of the products I used today. Jenni took me and Christine to Skyline Chili for lunch. Let me just tell ya this chili is nothing like what I’ve ever had in Texas. I had a 3-Way which is spaghetti on the bottom then chili topped with shredded cheese. And when you take a bite you need to pop 1 or 2 oyster crackers in your mouth. I know it sounds crazy but it is so good. Then once you finish you place the remaining oyster crackers in the chili so they can soak up all the liquid and eat away. YUMMY is all...

Chapter Two and Lunch…

Mar 29, 2011

It was another great day in the studio. We were able to complete the step outs for all of Chapter Two which means we’re halfway done. Completing each technique means I am that much closer to having this book in my very eager hands. I can’t wait to see it all finished. I do believe you all are going to LOVE it just as much as Delight In The Details. This is the table where all the supplies I need to recreate each of the 40 techniques in my book are placed. Yesterday this table was completely covered. It’s nice to see some empty space on it now. Each baggie is filled with supplies and marked with the chapter and technique numbers. Being organized like this helps speed up the process just a tad...

Chapter One Techniques are Done!

Mar 28, 2011

What a great day. This morning, I finally got to meet my editor Jenni Claydon in person. We’ve chatted over the phone for months so finally having a face with the voice is awesome. We headed straight to the studio to start photographing techniques for each of the 40 techniques featured in my book. It was great getting to see Christine Polomsky once again. She is so patient when taking all the step by step photographs. In this photo I’m prepping some Pink Paislee patterned papers with Diamond Stickles. You will see lots of Diamond and Platinum Stickles being used in this book. Are you surprised? Something tells me not. And way over in the background hanging on her wall are two beauty shots from  my book. I was so surprised to see them...

Peep Houses

Mar 25, 2011

While on Pinterest I came across this fun tutorial and saved it to make with my niece Madelyn while she was supposed to visit this week for Spring Break. Well she decided she wasn’t ready just yet to stay a week so far away from home. So I sent the tutorial to my mom and she made them with Mad and Bellie. They were a hit so thanks a bunch Kasey Buick for this really fun project. Here are the photos dad emailed me. Mom made a batch of royal icing as it was a bit easier for the girls to keep their houses together when they started decorating. Not sure if little Bellie is still decorating or snagging a jelly bean. Mad and Bellie loved decorating their houses. You can see Bellie concentrating...

Did a little Thrifting yesterday…

Mar 24, 2011

I love to shop at Frisco Resale because not only do you find awesome things but the money goes back into our community to help those in need. It’s a win, win situation. As you can see in the photo it was a good finds kinda day. I found a nice silverplated tray and plan on doing this with it. I’m on the lookout for another one as I really like how the two look together. This will be a pretty way to keep reminders and other things out in front of me. And I plan on using vintage button magnets my dad made me to attach those reminders too. They’ll work perfectly. The book I found is going to be torn and turned into this bird and paper flower wreath someday after my...

Paying it forward

Mar 21, 2011

A while back I talked about paying it forward on facebook and stated if anyone wanted help in submitting I would gladly help them as I feel it’s my duty to pay it forward. I certainly did not get where I am today in this industry without a little help and guidance from others along the way. I must say it does amaze me as to how many people will not help others advance. I’m not sure if it’s insecurities on their part and feel the person might be better than them or just flat out not caring or wanting to take the time to help others. This industry certainly has room for more creative people. New people keep things fresh and exciting and I love to see fresh and exciting creations. So I...
