I will be going to my Happy Place, The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, for a fun filled creative weekend, the last weekend in February. My second book “Delight In The Seasons” debuted at CHA and I want to show off my beautiful new vintage inspired, stamp line, Antiquated Collection by Lisa M. Pace.

Carolyn is going to help me start the weekend off Friday night, February 24th from 6-7pm for a booking signing followed with a fun make-n-take using my new stamps. If you have my first book “Delight In The Details” feel free to bring it along too and I will gladly sign it for you. And just so you know Carolyn will have both books and all the stamps from Antiquated Collection for sale in her store. I will be leaving samples created with my stamps at her store too, for inspiration.

To reserve your spot for my classes please contact The Crafty Scrapper at 972.923.3151

As most of you know, I love all things vintage and vintage samplers are high on my list. I created this canvas as a tribute to all those I’ve come across. In this class you will create an 8” x 10” vintage style sampler using stamps from my new Antiquated Collection stamp line and accent your canvas using several different Maya Road embellishments. Once completed you can either frame your sampler or set it on an easel. This will be left for you to decide.

Supplies Needed: Basic Supplies Kit, ColorBox Creamy Brown Ink, Archival Ink ~ Jet Black & Coffee, Fabri-Tac, Strong Liquid Clear Drying Adhesive, Glue Stick Adhesive, Glossy Accents or Diamond Glaze

Tools Needed: Scissors, Sanding Block, Kraft Knife, Kraft Mat, Acrylic Stamping Block, and Wire Cutters (needed to trim Trinket Pins)

In this class, I will show you how to alter two vintage jello molds using paint, glitter, tinsel, muslin, burlap and the Perfumery stamp set from my Antiquated Collection stamp line. Both molds are accented using Maya Road embellishments and trims. Once completed these altered home décor pieces will look adorable placed on any shelf, coffee table or end table.

I’m very goal oriented and love creative challenges, so in 2011 I set two goals finish my second book without a hitch and find someone that believed in me enough to launch a very vintage stamp line. With a lot of hard work and faith by the end of the 2011 I was able to check these two goals off my list. It is such a nice feeling to set goals and see them obtained.

1. In early May, I completed my second technique based book ~ “Delight in The Seasons” this book will give you ideas to create a year of memorable holidays & celebrations and is filled with loads of inspiration.

If you would like to see inside my new book please click HERE. Then scroll down to the “Selected Pages” and “Content” to see some sneak peeks inside. I’m so very proud of this book and how everyone at F+W Media, Inc. put it all together. It looks great next to “Delight In The Details”. I still can’t believe I’m a two time author. I’ve already started working on my proposal for book #3 and have some really awesome over the top vintage ideas and techniques just waiting to be created and shared.

Here are a few links for you to check out if you’re thinking of making a purchase. You can even purchase the Kindle and Nook versions too.

Delight In The Seasons ~ Amazon, Barnes & Noble

2. In November, I launched my stamp line “Antiquated Collection” with Pink Persimmon. For inspiration make sure you check out and “Like” the Antiquated Facebook Page. Here you will be inspired with all kinds of ideas using the stamp sets. Once the Facebook Page hits 300 “Likes” I’ll be giving away a RAK. Hope to see you there.

Misses’ Apron

Did you set any scrapping goals for 2012? If you are a bit timid to take the leap into publications and submissions or not sure how to go about doing it, don’t forget about the “Author to Artist” PDF I have for download… it’s FREE! You can find it on the right side column on the Home Page of my website.

While reading Karen Russell’s blog Snapshots of a good life, which I love reading because the way she writes and her photography is always so amazing… anyway, this POST had this awesome quote that I had to share.

“Time is inevitably going to pass and one year from today, you can find yourself in the exact same spot you’re in now, you can find yourself further away from your goal or you can find yourself closer to your goal — so where do you want to be a year from now?”

So with all that said… jump in, set some goals and have fun doing it. Right now, I’m deep in CHA-W projects and the good thing for you is it’s almost time to share some sneak peeks of what I’ve been working on using new Maya Road products. I believe you’re going to have a wish list a mile long when you see everything Caroline has been working on. It’s an amazing release.

This cute little guy can be found in the gallery in the back section of “Delight In The Details”. I just love him and had so much fun sculpting his face. My favorite part is his carrot nose. I also thought you might like to see what is inside the small altered box. It’s a cute teeny tiny, mini album I filled with snow photos of the girls from winters past.

My little Mr. Winter looks so cute sitting on the shelf of my scraproom and I can honestly say, I have enjoyed looking at him every single day. This is one of my favorite projects I created for my book and wish Maya Road would bring this box back. Maybe if you bug Caroline enough for me she will. It never hurts to try. This box and mini album are the perfect size to alter and I miss them both.

Have you all seen this book in your local scrapbook or craft stores? If not, you need to look for it as it’s filled with LOADS of inspiration for every scrapbooking topic you can imagine. I was thrilled to be asked to create a few projects for the book. F+W Media included a spotlight on my book “Delight In The Details” along with my two projects. As you can see Jenni Bowlin sponsored products for these two projects. Oh how I love Jenni’s products. I certainly do have a hoarding issue with her items. If you love Jenni Bowlin products as much as I do make sure you check out her Inspiration Blog.… it’s filled with LOTS of incredible projects.

Thanks for the sponsorship, Jenni.

Here is a closer look at the two projects I created for the book. The layout is to document Ansley at 16 and yes, she is just as sweet as she looks. The card is one I’ll send to someone special and who I love very much.

Today is all about hitting it hard for some deadlines. I will be editing my book “Delight In The Seasons”, working on some Cocoa Daisy projects using Christine’s July Kit and getting some CHA-S projects started for Maya Road and Ranger. It’s gonna be busy, busy, busy these next few weeks.

I like to incorporate a patchwork look on many of my vintage inspired projects. This is a bit time consuming but an accent I feel is certainly worth the effort. All I do is cut patterned papers in different sizes then sew a straight stitch all around the inner edge of the patterned paper. Once I have all the stitching completed I take a pair of zigzag scissors and trim the outer edges on some of the patterned papers and leave some with a slight distressed straight edge.

Above shows some of the straight edges distressed slightly and inked using a creamy brown ink. Below shows some of the edges trimmed using zigzag decorative scissors and inked using a creamy brown ink.

On page 34 of my book I show you how I antiqued the frame. This is something else I love to do to resin items as it really does give them a very nice finish.

This mini album is featured in my book on page 48. They didn’t show the cover so I thought I would share it with you now since Spring is just around the corner. The step outs on page 49 show you how to recreate a paper mosaic that looks like broken pieces of china. This is certainly another project of mine that is filled with dimensional objects. I guess I visualize in 3-D as nothing looks finished until items are popping off the project.

I find how people create and visualize very interesting. My dad carves incredible objects out of wood. He can carve just about anything you request including wildlife and people as well as loads of other things. What I find fascinating is he cannot even begin to draw a 3 circled cat. My mom paints (oils, acrylics and watercolor) gorgeous pieces of art which is flat on the canvas but she makes it dimensional with shading. It amazes me how she adds all the shading and such and makes a flat object look 3 dimensional.

So my question to you is, “How do you visualize your creations?” I would love to know.

As you can see this album does not close but I am certainly ok with that…

This page “Welcome To My Garden” is to resemble a stepping stone. Most gardens are not complete without a whimsical mosaic stepping stone. I LOVE those.

This page is to resemble what you would see walking by a house with a white picket fence and flowers blooming all around. And of course butterflies would be fluttering from bloom to bloom. There is a cute chipboard birdhouse way inside near the binder rings peeking out. The mosaic page is to resemble a stepping stone with morning dew drops here and there.

This album took me forever to complete but it was so worth it in the end as I filled it with photos of my favorite garden flowers I’ve had bloom over the years. Just wish I could get them to bloom all at once in the same year… gotta get better at my gardening skills.

First I gotta tell ya… registration for Paper Cowgirl OPENS today at 9:00 a.m. central time.… go here to register and sign up for classes. I hope to see ya there. Oh and one little bit of information I left out regarding my project are the dimensions… the shadow box measures approximately 7.5″ square by 1″ deep.

I will also have my book available for pre-sale at the discounted rate of $17.99 + tax for those attending Paper Cowgirl. All books must be picked up at Paper Cowgirl. I will have a few available for purchase during my book signing but they will be at my regular cost of $22.99 + tax. I will let you know when I have the special link up and ready.

Okay now on to why I love dimensional layouts…

One of the reasons my layouts are not in albums and stored in boxes is because I make them so thick. I’ve tried not to add so much stuff but just can’t do it… they never seem finished to me until every last bit is filled. My friend Lisa E. calls my pages “Where’s Waldo… kinda pages.” She seems to think it’s all about the photo… I think it’s all about the stuff to accent the photo and tell the story. We are so much the same yet so very different in style. She prefers simple layouts, I like to add everything but the kitchen sink… she likes 1950 kitchen items, I like old blow the dust off the top old… we are not even going to talk about how she feels about me tearing up old books for projects… I could go on and on with our “similar differences” as I call it but we have been great friends for over 10 years and she gets me which says A LOT!

I thought I would share with you one of my favorite layouts in my book “Delight in the Details” This one was so fun to create. I wanted a fairy tale feel and think the whimsical house, patterned paper hills and rolling journaling helped me achieve just that.

The journaling says, “In a land far far away lived 2 sisters whose mother loved them very much.”

I think the house came out really cute and whimsical. The book page flower tutorial is on page 111. The back stitch tutorial can be found on page 88.

The clouds are actually chipboard tree parts… I thought they worked perfectly as clouds. And I love the look of the tree trunks all glittered up. My glitter tutorial is on page 21.

And I must say I love how the door opens to show the photo of the girls standing inside… I can’t believe Ansley will be turning 17 years old in a few days. Yikes!

First I must give my heart felt condolences to my Aunt and cousins. Yesterday, my Uncle David passed away peacefully at home. Uncle David was a quiet man yet when you talked with him he was so interesting as he could talk about all kinds of wonderful topics. Sadly, 10 years ago he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and not long after that Parkinson’s disease. Aunt Brenda cared for him at home every single day from the time of his diagnosis. Even though it is a blessing Uncle David has passed on it is still so sad and he will be missed. Aunt Brenda was a wonderful example of how family should care for family. We never heard her speak of any frustrations which I am certain there were many and we never ever heard or saw in her actions that she wished she was doing something else. She made sure Uncle David received the care he needed and Lord help anyone who got in her way and told her he did not qualify for some form of aide… lets just say Aunt Brenda is known in the family for her slightly stubborn don’t take no for an answer kinda ways.

So if you will keep Aunt Brenda and her family in your thoughts and prayers I will kindly appreciate it. This photo was taken when they lived in Dover, NH on a visit to see them in 2001. We had just spent a long day running around here and there and feasting on lobster rolls. Uncle David was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s not too long after this visit and this is how I choose to remember him.

In the 80’s, when their friend, Herb Wilson, died unexpectedly, his family and friends established a student scholarship fund. Herb and Uncle David were of a like mind when it came to the importance and love of education. Both were well educated life long learners, and both served on the Greenland School Board in NH for a number of years. Uncle David loved being on the selection committee and reviewing what young minds were thinking and planning as the years passed. He maintained his devotion to the project for almost 30 years, then my cousin Brian, stepped in to take his place.

If you wish to honor a loved one in some way, it would be great if you would keep the H. A. Wilson Scholarship Fund in mind. In this economy helping a young person achieve their dream of a college education is a wonderful way to honor a loved one. It truly is a gift that keeps on giving.

Now please don’t feel I am being insensitive in posting about a tag but Aunt Brenda and Uncle David are the type that you just keep on going and don’t cry over me. So here goes… surprise, another tag I created for Ranger. Yes it does have UTEE and yes more Wendy Vecchi stamps. How cute is her heart stamp… I love the shape and size so much… obviously, because I decided to use them to create a 3D background for the tag. Also her script flower stamp is super cute and has so many possibilities. I think it would look so cute stamped on linen… what do you think?

This month on the Memory Makers blog they are offering a free project from my book “Delight In The Details”. It is my “Crepe Paper Rosette” tutorial.

As you all know I LOVE creating crepe paper rosettes. I create them in many different sizes, love to use decorative scissors to create unique edges as well as accent the edges using Stickles. This tutorial will show you step by step how I make mine as well as show you a few examples of them used in projects.

Crepe Paper Rosettes are wonderful accents for cards, tags, layouts, home decor projects etc. Anyplace you want to add a flower in my opinion is the perfect spot for a crepe paper rosette.

You will also notice products in the projects shown from a few of my many wonderful sponsors… Clearsnap, Cornish Heritage Farms, Fiskars, Jenni Bowlin, Maya Road, Melissa Frances, Pink Persimmon and Ranger.

And for those of you that ordered a signed copy of my book, this weekend I will be signing and packaging them to mail Monday. The response I have had with book purchases as well as the kindest comments and emails has been so overwhelming. Thank you all so much.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
