Blast from the Past

Aug 2, 2012

While organizing photos in my gallery, late last night, I stumbled upon some layouts I created when I first started to scrapbook back in 2005. Oh goodness do I have some fun layouts to show you… it’s so funny to me looking back at what I’ve created. When we first moved into our home the summer of 1999 there were gorgeous sunflower fields all over. I loved going out each morning and taking photos of them with the morning sun highlighting each petal. It truly was gorgeous. I did learn one hard lesson though… did you know when you cut wild sunflowers they seep this REALLY STICKY stuff? When this sappy stuff gets on anything it’s like trying to remove gorilla glue… I didn’t think I would ever rid my kitchen table of this...

Giveaway with Pink Persimmon

May 16, 2012

Here is a beautiful tag created by Ronda Palazzari using the new Spring Release Antiquated Collection Mini Silhouettes & Monograms stamp sets. She used the Monogram alphabet letters to spell “FLY” then accented the tag using the frame and border stamps also included in the Mini Silhouettes & Monogram stamp set. For this card Ronda used the new Antiquated Collection ~ Then Comes Baby and Mini Silhouettes & Monograms stamp sets. I LOVE the vintage pram so much. I think it will make the cutest baby shower invitations, cards, tags as well as new baby cards, decor piece or tags. To create the title for the card Ronda stamped the word BABY on shrink paper using the Monograms alphabet. Too cute. And just so you know… Pink Persimmon is giving away a complete set...

Antiquated Collection Designer Samples

May 14, 2012

I just had to show you some of the adorable cards, tags and projects my design team created using the new Antiquated Collection Spring Release stamp sets. I am so in love with these new stamps sets. Susie Moore created these three adorable projects using the new Antiquated Collection ~ Sweet Little Girls and Knick Knack stamp sets. Each piece is detailed to perfection with pearls, flowers and trims. As you can see by Susie’s projects these stamp sets are fun to color in with inks and markers. I love how Susie used the Scooter Boy. This little plaque just screams boy with the baseball accents, domino piece and all the red, white and blue. Thanks, Susie. Karin Aguirre created these two super sweet tags using the new Antiquated Collection ~ Darling Little Ones...

Featured Artist ~ Anabelle O’Malley

Feb 16, 2012

One thing that is so fun and exciting is seeing how others use my Antiquated Collection stamp sets. Each month I’ve asked a few people I know in the crafting industry to create anything they wish using my stamps, all I ask is they stay true to their style. When I asked Anabelle  O’Malley if she would be a featured artist I was thrilled she said yes. Just look at what she created using the Perfumery and Fine and Dandy Stamp Sets. The color scheme of her “Feel Better” card is gorgeous. I’m such a cream color kinda girl and when it is a cream tone on tone color scheme… gosh, I love it even more. And if you add rhinestones and glitter on top of that… well it’s serious love. Anabelle’s “Happy Anniversary”...

Coming out of my CHA fog

Feb 3, 2012

I have to say, this has been the most exhausting CHA I’ve ever attended. I had the best of intentions to post each evening I got back to my room about the days happening but each night, I was in bed asleep 30 minutes after I returned to my room. It was go, go, go, go every second of every day. And I have the aching feet to prove it. My goodness my feet have never hurt so much. But my book signings and demo were great, the Maya Road make-n-take table was super busy and super popular, people I chatted with about my stamp sets liked seeing the Antiquated Collection Stamp line up close and in person and I just might have a really cool venture to share in the months to come…...

Snow for Christmas

Dec 21, 2011

I LOVE snow and hope we get some this winter… so far all we’ve had is rain… which we need terribly BUT snow sure would be awesome. We have a chance for flurries Friday and Saturday but most likely it will be short lived and turn to rain. We will see and you can bet I will be watching the forecast like a little kid. I have a true love for anything with snowflakes so when Maya Road came out with their adorable “Let It Snow” stamp set, I was thrilled. And their Blue 1″ Ink Pad is a gorgeous winter blue ink, so keep this in mind for any of your winter projects. If you would like to recreate this card cut a piece of white cardstock to 8″ x 11″ then fold...

Christmas Baking

Dec 6, 2011

One of the things Ansley always looks forward to every holiday season is baking Christmas cookies… wait, let me rephrase this… me baking Christmas cookies. Each year, it is not Christmas to her unless I bake her all her favorites… Chocolate Chewies, Lemon Cookies, Pecan Sandies and Red Velvet cookies with a Hershey Kiss in the middle. The girl keeps me busy during the holidays for sure. But I love it and it makes me happy that she loves them so much. So Ansley and her cookies were the inspiration behind this card. I thought the Maya Road Heart Tart Tin Bottlecap was perfect to start with, then using Jet Black Archival Ink, I stamped the Antiquated Collection Misses’ Aprons onto grungepaper three times so I could cut out the apron from one and...

Simple Stories and Maya Road

Dec 5, 2011

I hope you are ready for a fun blog hop this week. Simple Stories and Maya Road will be featuring lots of awesome projects for the holiday season all week using the Simple Stories 25 Days of Christmas line and loads of Maya Road products. Last night, I created a card that reminds me of a holiday scene from the early 1900’s. A lady and gentleman standing in front of their Christmas tree looking out the window as people pass by their home all decorated for the season or maybe watching snowflakes as they gently fall to the ground. Either way it is a magical evening for them both. The window is attached to the front of the card using foam squares to give it a bit of dimension. I attached the miniature holly...

Snowman Mini Box and Album

Nov 11, 2011

This cute little guy can be found in the gallery in the back section of “Delight In The Details”. I just love him and had so much fun sculpting his face. My favorite part is his carrot nose. I also thought you might like to see what is inside the small altered box. It’s a cute teeny tiny, mini album I filled with snow photos of the girls from winters past. My little Mr. Winter looks so cute sitting on the shelf of my scraproom and I can honestly say, I have enjoyed looking at him every single day. This is one of my favorite projects I created for my book and wish Maya Road would bring this box back. Maybe if you bug Caroline enough for me she will. It never hurts to...

Halloween 2011 Completed Album

Nov 8, 2011

Here is the completed Halloween mini album. I love how it turned out. Jenni Bowlin and Maya Road were made to go together. I accented the stems of the pumpkins using JBS Decorative Brads, MR Leaf Pins and Trim. It’s now ready to fill with cute Halloween photos of little trick -or-treaters and some journaling about their fun candy filled evening. Front Cover I added brown and white baker’s twine to the top of the smaller pumpkins and accented the edges of the JBS Alterable Letters – Micro Dots using Chicken Feed and brown ink. And of course I accented the top of each letter using Diamond Stickles. The 2011 are JBS Vintage Black Stickers. Pages 1 and 2 Pages 3 and 4 The numbers 3 and 4 on page three are from the JBS...

Altering the House

Nov 5, 2011

I feel like I’m burning the candle at both ends, right now. I’ve been working on special projects, writing instructions for three classes that I will be teaching, next weekend at The Crafty Scrapper, gathering supplies to kit for the classes and trying to finish up this Halloween Mini Album. So tonight I finished altering the house and thought I would share it now instead of waiting until Monday. I covered the majority of the chipboard house using this Halloween 2011 patterned paper by JBS Mercantile. The small sections are perfect to alter the house and pumpkin. The owl and stars on the roof are from this patterned paper. After I covered the house with patterned paper I sanded and inked the edges using a brown ink. Then I attached the patterned paper of...

Altering the Leaves

Nov 3, 2011

As you can see the album is starting to come together, but please note I do not have anything attached to the cover just yet. Everything is just sitting in place. I like seeing the stems of the leaves and pumpkins sticking out. The album still lacks all the details that makes it special but you can begin to see how the completed mini album is going to look. I’m still not sure how I want to alter the banner.. paint, ink, paper? I’ll figure it out later. Today we are altering the leaves of the coaster mini album. I find it easiest when altering something like the shape of leaves is to apply the adhesive to the chipboard piece, attach the patterned paper and then cut the piece out using a craft knife...

Altering the Pumpkins

Nov 2, 2011

Please forgive me for the last few days. I have been working on some projects that I cannot wait to share. I will be doing an online chat with A Cherry On Top, November 19th (once we have the time set I will let you know) during this chat I will finally get to reveal my secret… needless to say, I am counting down the days. So, if you want to know make sure you are all signed up at ATOC to participate in the chat. Okay, so now to altering the chipboard pumpkins with Jenni Bowlin’s awesome Halloween 2011 line. To create the pumpkin template place a piece of computer paper on top and trace over the recessed area with a stylus and cut out. For the stem portion of the pumpkin I traced...

Getting Started

Oct 27, 2011

When creating a mini album I like to cover the base pages first and build from there. Jenni Bowlin’s Halloween line reminds me of the vintage Halloween items I come across now and then when thrifting and walking around flea markets. The images on the patterned papers are awesome. Tools and Supplies Used: Glue Stick, Craft Knife, Craft Mat, Sanding Block, Glossy Accents, Maya Road 1″ Ink Pads True Black, Metallic Gold, Maya Road Glitter Licorice Black, Regal Gold, Diamond Stickles Album Cover Pages 1 and 2 Pages 3 and 4 Pages 5 and 6 Pages 7 and 8 Back Cover Once all the pages are covered I then alter the mini chipboard embellishments. I inked and glittered a cat, two trees and two maple leaves. Then I altered two mini chipboard pumpkins using...

The Creative Process

Oct 26, 2011

I’m often asked how I come up with my ideas and how I create… so today’s post will give you a little insight into my creative madness. LOL, I really do torture myself and I’m not kidding. First, I get an idea which usually comes to me at night when in bed. My brain starts to unwind because I’m always wound up like an 8 day clock. It is then that all the ideas start creeping in my head and I take notes. The other night a mini album idea popped into my head for Halloween. I have some of the new super awesome JBS Halloween line and embellishments that I have really been wanting to use but could not come up with an idea that I really liked. I was thinking about all...

Of all the albums…

Oct 14, 2011

I have created I do believe this one has been photographed and looked over more than any other. The cover of this album can be seen in my book “Delight In The Details” but due to space limitations the inside was not able to be featured. So as with The Garden Fairy mini album I posted yesterday, I thought I would share the inside of this album with you too. This album has photos of my great great aunts Minnie and Amanda and uncles Albert and Stephen along with their parents, my great great grandmother Rebecca Hinkle, grandfather Enoch Childers and his brother Jesse. Oh and these are the family members who lived in the old house I love going into on my aunt’s property in Buckhannon, WV. The swing Albert Childers is sitting...

The Garden Fairy

Oct 13, 2011

This little album is one that can be found in my book Delight In The Details. The inside of the album was not able to be shown so I thought I would share it with you. The photos used are ones I took of my niece Madelyn when she and her family were staying with me and Alan during hurricane Rita, several years ago. Madelyn was having so much fun running around the backyard dressed up as a fairy. I just let her play while I snapped away catching her each and every move. I printed each of the photos in black and white onto a transparency then used a sewing machine set to a straight stitch to attach each photo to the patterned paper. You need to really pay attention to where you...
