Since Terri and Laren live right in the heart of Deep Ellum, Saturday Alan and I headed down to see them, grand dog Lola AND go to the Deep Ellum Arts Festival. Laren’s parents came down too so it was a super fun afternoon. First we walked over to Pepe’s & Mito’s to fill up on their awesome Mexican food. After we were all stuffed we started walking the streets. The festival had some great bands playing and we had a wonderful time walking, talking, laughing, dodging rain drops and seeing some amazing art. I was so busy looking at art that the only photo I took was of this band. I can’t even tell you who they were but they were good. All the photos of Lola were taken by Laren’s mom, Michelle. I was so busy going from one amazing booth to the next I completely forgot to take any other photos of the festival.
Lola got to go walk the festival with us and I’m not kidding when I say, we could not walk 5 feet without someone wanting to pet her or take her photo. She represented Deep Ellum really well. You would have thought she was the mascot. Lola wore her Deep Ellum bandanna and strutted down the streets like a true bad ass. FYI… she’s just a poser and oozes nothing but sweetness. Underneath her bad ass Deep Ellum bandanna she wore the pearl collar and rhinestone name tag I made her.
Look at this face… how can she be anything but sweet, snugly and everything awesome.
Sunday, was a day filled with gloomy skies and drizzly rain. I call days like this “Eeyore” kinda days. These days are great to be super lazy and creative. So I watched it rain out my studio window, listened to music and taught myself how to make this wire wrapped bird’s nest ring.
Wishing you all a super awesome Monday and week!
