Documenting My December Album
This year, I was super inspired by Caroline Lau to make a December album. I started to call mine a “Capturing Christmas” album but then thought I really wanted to document a few other things as the family and I prepared for Christmas so I decided on calling it my “Documenting December” album. I cannot do the every single day route, this just does not work for me at all. I over think everything and having to commit to everyday makes me instantly start to stress out. I love seeing how everyone documents their December each day and I applaud them for being able to do it, so I’ve decided highlighting the month decorating, baking, wrapping and shopping is something I can do without any stress.
Today, I thought I would share what I’ve completed so far. The front and back of my album are the front and back covers from an old vintage book. I removed the inside pages and cut off the spine. Of course I saved the pages for future projects. The book I picked to use for my album measures approximately 4″ x 6″. The patterned papers are last years October Afternoon Christmas line. I created a collage on the cover then accented the papers, stickers and banner pieces with Platinum and Diamond Stickles. I added a few October Afternoon buttons, some red & white twine and red seam binding.
I covered the inside front cover with patterned paper and added Page 1. I plan to put a photo on this page so once it is attached I will embellish it more.
Page 2 is for journaling and Tag 1 is just something fun to add interest. I LOVE the Maya Road wooden snowflakes. I inked this one with white ink then applied Diamond Stickles all over and accented the center with a clear rhinestone.
The back of Tag 1 is perfect for a photo and Page 3 will remain as is. I love the design of this paper and cannot bare to cover it up.
Page 4 will also remain as is… it’s too cute to cover. Tag 2 is a pocket I made from a Kraft tag to hold our favorite cookie recipes and a few photos.
The back of Tag 2 I’m still thinking on, I might add some journaling, a favorite Christmas quote or a small photo of my favorite tree ornament. Page 5 will have a photo attached to it and then embellished.
Page 6 will have a photo on it and Tag 3 will have a small amount of journaling. To make the tag I simply attached two ATC Kraft Tags together, then covered them with patterned paper, trim and additional embellishments.
Tomorrow, I’ll show you the remaining 7 pages and next week I’ll be able to share some of the pages with photos and journaling. I’m determined to complete this album.
