DIY Holiday Card

Holiday Cards

This card is created using an image Christy Tomlinson shared last week from one of her awesome paintings. Christy has such a beautiful artistic style, which I truly love. I decided to create a few Christmas cards with her beautiful image to share with friends and family. Some I left as is with just a little Diamond Stickles placed here and there and some I added a little dimension by cutting out the wreath, boots, manger and baby Jesus.

Dimensional Card

First to make 3 of the dimensional cards I created, using a laser printer, print  4 – 3.5″ x 5″ images. If you use an inkjet printer and put any liquid medium onto it, the ink will run. This mean NO STICKLES and well you know how I feel about Stickles so I have to print everything using my laser printer as I cannot even think of not using Stickles.

Once you have all 4 images printed, using scissors cut each one from the computer paper and attach to white cardstock. I use my Xyron Creative Station Home for this, as it works beautifully and is just too easy. Once each image is attached to white cardstock, using scissors trim around each 3.5″ x 5″ image. Place 3 aside and using one image, carefully cut out the wreath, boots, manger and baby Jesus.

Now that we have the images prepped and the focal pieces for the card ready it’s time to make your cards.

Card 1:

  • Using foam squares attach the cut out wreath and manger directly on top of the same image on one of the 3 remaining cards.
  • Using Diamond Stickles accent the wreath, boots and hay in the manger, let dry.
  • Using the tip of your finger apply gold metallic acrylic paint around the edges, let dry.
  • Attach the image to a blank note card using the adhesive of your choice.

I used 4″ x 5″ note cards that I already had on hand and just trimmed the excess portion of the card off but you could cover the note card with patterned paper and then center the image on the note card if you wish.

Card 2:

  • Using a glue stick attach the cut out boots directly on top of the same image on one of the 2 remaining cards.
  • Using Diamond Stickles accent the wreath, boots and hay in the manger, let dry.
  • Using the tip of your finger apply gold metallic acrylic paint around the edges, let dry.
  • Attach the image to a blank note card using the adhesive of your choice.

Card 3:

  • Using a glue stick attach the cut out baby Jesus directly on top of  the same image on the last remaining card.
  • Using Diamond Stickles accent the wreath, boots and hay in the manger, let dry.
  • Using the tip of your finger apply gold metallic acrylic paint around the edges, let dry.
  • Attach the image to a blank note card using the adhesive of your choice.
