Textile Mini Album

Textile Mini Album Cover

This mini album is going to be a work in progress piece for quite some time. Each inside page will be it’s own unique piece of art. I don’t have a plan or even one idea on how to complete each page, I’m just going to pick it up and stitch off and on and see how it comes together. Sometimes it’s fun to create without ever having a plan.

The album I’m using is a Maya Road Linen 4″ x 6″ Art Journaling Album that I accented with a Maya Road Linen Heart piece and a die cut doily from natural muslin using the Eileen Hull Sizzix Doily, Lace Medallion die.

Before attaching the linen heart and natural muslin doily I first attached seam binding so I can keep the album closed with a simple bow and vintage lace using fabric adhesive. The above photo is the back of the mini album. I’ve been saving this vintage lace for a long time for just the right project. I think it is gorgeous.

The natural muslin doily is accented with simple back stitching and rice stitching. I also attached a few small champagne colored beads just to add a bit of color to the doily. The linen heart is accented with a back stitch and clear beads that I randomly attached all along the inside edge of the heart . Then I attached vintage glass buttons inside the heart as I like how the glass buttons give the cover a little sparkle. I then added vintage shell buttons around the heart and doily for additional color and texture.

As I add to the album I’ll make sure to show you how it’s coming together.  Now I’m off to Denver, CO to see Ronda Palazzari for a few days then head up to Rocky Mountain Memories to teach some classes. It’s going to be an awesome few days.
