Owl Charms

Dec 31, 2012

My sister, Belinda has a serious love of owls. She likes the fun whimsical style so I thought I would create a few charms for her to wear. I printed off some owl images using my laser printer then cut them to fit the bezels shown above. Using a paint brush I applied Nunn Design Glue inside each bezel then placed the image on top of the glue pressing down with my finger to make sure I removed any air bubbles. Then I applied a layer of the glue on top of each image, letting it dry completely then applied another layer of glue. Once dry I accented the images with Diamond Stickles. After the Stickles dried I applied Judi Kins Gel du Soleil and used a Judi Kins UV Lamp. This product is different than...

Felted Pin Cushions

Dec 28, 2012

These are I think the cutest pin cushions ever. I made these for my mom and aunt Brenda who came down for Christmas. They both sew, so I thought having a small pin cushion to keep on their end table would be cute. The flower petals, centers and leaves are felted from wool roving then attached to the top of vintage spools I’ve had using fabric adhesive. I accented the center of one of the flowers using one of Jenni Bowlin’s adorable pins. The measuring tape around the spool is Maya Road’s Vintage Tape Measure Trim in Pink and Yellow. I just wrapped it around the spool a few times and secured it in place with a strong adhesive. The end of the measuring tape trim is cut using scallop decorative scissors. These little...

Pre-Teen Jewelry

Dec 27, 2012

For Christmas I made my niece Madelyn charms for each day of the week and a matching bracelet. This is a super easy project to create and one kids Madelyn’s age love. All I did was cut the brads off the back of some Basic Grey brads I’ve had in my stash forever using wire cutters. Then using E-6000 I attached each brad to a silver bail that is slightly smaller than the brad for each of the 7 days a week charms. To make the bracelet I just attached one brad to each blank of the pre-made bracelet. The bails and bracelet can be found at Hobby Lobby in the jewelry section. It’s as simple as that and Madelyn LOVES being able to pick which charm she is going to wear each day....

Family is Everything

Dec 26, 2012

This is the canvas I created for Mom. I made her a family tree sorta canvas. You will see me at the top as I’m the oldest, then I placed my two daughters Terri and Ansley underneath me. Next is my brother Richard, then my sister Belinda and her kids Amanda, Brittain, Madelyn and Isabella (Bellie). I created this canvas using the Maya Road Portrait Chipboard pieces, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Acrylic Paint Charcoal Black, Traditional Tan and Blank Canvas. I accented the sides using the Heart stencil by Dina Wakley as the hearts were the perfect size for this piece. I traced mine onto the sides using a pencil then using a paint brush filled them in with black paint and white accents. I painted each portrait chipboard piece using black paint. Once dry...

Merry Christmas

Dec 25, 2012

I hope you and your family are all enjoying a wonderful holiday season. I certainly do wish you all the very best and happiest of holidays. Now that everyone has opened their gifts I can finally share all the projects I created this Christmas to give to my family. Today’s canvas was my gift to my dad. As you all know he is Santa and has quite a collection of Santa’s so I thought I would add to it. I’m happy to report Santa’s sitting in his recliner with his feet up and a tummy full of milk and cookies resting from all his travels during the night. I really did have a lot of fun creating this 4″ x 4″ canvas for dad. I  tried hard to make each gift I create personal....

Christmas Cookies

Dec 17, 2012

Over the weekend I baked several of our favorite Christmas cookies. I doubled up on each cookie as one batch was for us and our local friends then made another batch for family in Beaumont. Needless to say our house smelled great all weekend. In case you want to try some or all of our favorite holiday cookies I thought I’d share the recipes. This is a new cookie I created this year. Alan and I love them but Ansley not so much. They are a spice cake type cookie with white chocolate morsels mixed inside and are kinda more like a brownie textured cookie. I love spice cake as it brings back wonderful memories of my grandmother, so I thought I would try to honor her at Christmas with a spice cookie. Grammy...

So much countdown fun

Dec 14, 2012

I’ve really enjoyed getting nightly photos of my nieces Madelyn and Bellie enjoying their 25 Day Countdown to Christmas activity. They are loving everything I’ve included so far. Each night is a surprise for all me and them as I don’t know the order in which Belinda has them doing their activity. Warning… this is a very heavy photo blog post but I really want to share their fun with far away family so I hope you don’t mind it not being crafty today. Madelyn and Bellie were making their Christmas cards, this night. I can only imagine how they decorated them because both love anything that has to do with art. Here they had a blast making paper chain garlands. This is such a fun, simple old fashioned decoration to make that brings...

A Shabby Christmas with Maya Road

Dec 13, 2012

Gosh it’s been a while since I last posted on my blog. I had to dust off the keys. This year, I’m making all my Christmas gifts so my still incredibly organized craftroom has had a flurry of glitter going on in it. Besides Christmas gifts it’s CHA prep time and book projects that are freaking me out but enough of that stress lets get on to this fun project. I thought of a cute idea when I found this little trophy in my scrapbook stash and just had to make this home decor accent or ornament (which ever you prefer) and of course share with all my blog readers. This shabby tree is really fun to make. Here are the basic supplies I used… small plastic trophy, Sisal Christmas Tree, Claudine Hellmuth Studio...

Reindeer Ornament

Dec 4, 2012

Isn’t this ornament cute. I love the whimsy style and think my nieces will too. So let me tell you how this ornament came about because this is NO WHERE close to being my vintage style. While cleaning and organizing my craft room I found a set of cookie stencils that I bought LAST year to do what with I have no idea but they were in the dollar bin so I grabbed them mainly for the snowflake and reindeer. Well the other day, while I was doing some serious procrastinating in the cleaning department I was looking on Pinterest and came across these really cute reindeer cookies click HERE and HERE. Inspiration hit right then and there. I thought how cute would it to be to make an ornament using the Gingerbread Man cookie...

Loving Christmas Wishes ~ Bell Ornament

Dec 3, 2012

Here is a sneak peek of a new ornament mini kit I created in my super clean craft room yesterday. I must admit it was almost too clean for me to work in. My neighbor Jennifer truly was a Saint to step into the disaster area I had created. She kept me going and honestly did make it fun. I love bells of all kinds during the holidays so when I found some aluminum bell molds while antiquing with Mom over Thanksgiving I grabbed them to create this limited kit. “Loving Christmas Wishes ~ Bell ~ Ornament Mini Kit“ $10.00 + Shipping at $5.50 Kit Includes: Aluminum Bell Mold, 2 Medium Sisal Trees, 1 Small Sisal Tree, 1 Small Silver Bell, 1 Chipboard Snowflake, 2 Beads (1 each Gold & Silver), 1 Holly Leaf...
